Texas Inmate Locator
By Texas MagnumUse the TDC Texas Inmate Locator to find family members or friends within the Texas Prison system. This is a really great tool that is part of the Texas Department of Corrections’ website. When your loved one or friend has first gone off for intake to TDC, it can be a very stressful time, not only for the incarcerated, but for the people left on the outside. Not knowing where your loved one or friend is, and if they are OK can be scary. Intake is usually completed and the inmate is sent to a transfer unit or an ID unit within 2 to 3 weeks from when they leave. Once they are at their destination, the Texas Inmate Locator will find them in the database.
You can learn the Texas inmate’s location as well as their estimated release date with this tool. Enter the Last Name, First Name, race and gender and hit search. It can take a minute to search the entire database of Texas Inmates, so be patient. But, after just a bit, the inmates information will come up, including the date of their projected release.

i would like to no his out date
WE LOVE YOU BABY T.T HOPE YOU COME SOON :{
Why do Im I still paying child support to a women that’s in prison and I have had our child for a year already! !!!
Know the feeling although my ex isnt in prison yet and had the children since 08. Write the attorney generals office it may take a minute but so worth it. They knocked back child support off of my case that occured during my incarcitation. Almost $30,000. Contact them and ask for a review of the case
Could you please contact me with my son’s father Jeremy M. Lydicks Release date?
Thank Dusty
Dusty, on the left side of the site under Links there is one that says “Texas Prison Inmate Search”. Click on that and the TDCJ Inmate Locator tool is available.
However, I just checked for you, and this name is in the database but does not have a release date listed.
You can keep checking back and maybe one will appear there soon.
i like to know when thomas berry getting out
I would like to konw the release date for my brother Marcial Soto G # 25609-038
Raisa, that doesn’t look like a Texas Dept of Corrections inmate number. Where is your brother incarcerated?
In massachussets
Raisa, I found this information –
To locate an offender within the Massachusetts Department of Correction you will need the following information:
Offenders Last Name and First Name and/or Committment Number
Then call (877) 421-8463.
I suggest you give them a call tomorrow, hopefully they can help you out.
I would like to know the relase date of someone who’s in middleton.when I look it up dosnt say a release date..
Hello Somer, So, it sounds like you WERE able to locate the person, but no Projected Release Date was available? Did they just recently arrive at Middleton? I think that your best bet is to just keep checking back regularly, until TDC gets one posted. I am sorry I don’t have more information for you but it might take a little bit for a date to appear.
thanks for the info on my son brandon it was helpful i didnt know know where he was he hasnt written me this helped thanks again carmen..
i live in tx . my son is in for life but can come up for parole . he has been locked up for 29 yrs . been turned dn for parole
ive been using this site to keep track of my son and husband my son is out but I just checked my husbands he was in el paso now it says huntsville does that mean he gunna be out soon?
im checking to see when my brother is getting out his name elijah jeffery #1024829
Hello Don, It looks like your brother became eligible for parole in 2009 but no parole release date is present. This probably means that he was denied parole at his last hearing. Right now his release date of 2019-12-08 reflects the full sentence.
To keep yourself updated, just put his inmate number in the field for that and submit, and you will get the latest details. Best of luck to you and your brother!

i would like to know if Mitchell Dyson has got parole yet
Hi Mindy, this is the Editor of this site, who makes the posts for Magnum who is in prison. I checked the TDC site, and Mitchell is not up for parole at this time. Currently his case shows that he just became eligible for parole. This means that within the next couple of months he should have a review, and then they will make a decision to parole him. His projected release date shows as 2014 but that is probably the “worse-case scenario”.
Have you ever visited http:www/prisontalk.com, specifically in the Texas section? If you have not, you might check it out, they have a lot of very good assistance and support there, all run by the family members and loved ones of inmates as well as those who have previously served time.
Best of luck to you, and to Mitchell as well.
I was trying to get information on the eligibilty for parole of my fiance Kendrick Fortenberry SID#:07505868 TDCJ #: 01747044 I see there is a date listed but how can I find out if that date is actually the date he will be released? Does wrirting a support letter really have a positive effect on the parole board as to letting him out on the parole date listed, if nothing but positivity is available to him upon release?
Hi Tiya, the date listed on the TDCJ website is the projected release date based on the “short time” which is the calculated amount of time the inmate needs to serve to satisfy his conviction. If you click on the inmates name, you will see that there is more details, including the parole eligibility date. In your fiance’s case, he is eligible for parole on 2012-02-22. That means that sometime shortly after that, maybe a few weeks, he will have an interview there at the prison, and then they will submit his case for review.
Once he has been interviewed and his case is sent in for review, there is a Status Number you can call to get a status update. You can call (512) 406-5202. They will either tell you the case is still under review or they will tell you the parole decision, either denied, set off, or approved, with what conditions. It can take MANY calls to finally get an answer, be patient.
It is helpful to send support letters, the best is to send a support “packet” that includes letters from yourself, any family that can speak for him, possibly employers, neighbors, a minister, etc. Also you can mention where he can parole to, your house or apartment, etc. Here is a link to some really good information about preparing a parole packet. Here is a good link for information about what the parole review and what to include in your parole packet: http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=205005. You can also refer to http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=594 which has several other threads about parole.
Keep in mind that once he IS approved, the approval can be an “F1″ or an “F1-R6″ or a whole lot of other classifications. Some mean come right home, some mean go to a rehab unit first, etc. Here is an explanation of the various types of parole. http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=222685
I am certainly not a lawyer nor do I have any inside information, but simply based on your fiance’s charge and the date it occurred, it appears he has a fairly long sentence for it. My hope would be that he will be one of the lucky ones to move through the system pretty quickly and gets paroled on the first opportunity. They are overcrowded right now and move some people through pretty quick. Because his charge is a drug charge, his parole, if approved, may include a stint at one of the rehab units, this is pretty common.
Currently your fiance is at Gurney which is a transfer unit, he will probably be moved to his “home” unit soon, or even be moved around to various units for awhile. Keep an eye on the locator to keep track of where he is. Also, you can always set up an account at http://www.jpay.com and once they have his TDCJ number, they will make sure emails or money you send gets to him at whatever unit he is at.
I see from the date on the Locator that he was just sentenced less than a month ago. I know this is a stressful time while he, and you, gets used to everything. I hope this information helps, and that all goes well for your fiance and you while he gets through this.
Take care ~ The Editor
My boyfriend was just transferredto the holliday unit in huntsville, can anyone tell me anything on that? Can he get letters right away? Does it really take 30days to get visitaion, and to be able to use the money put on commisary, and how soon will he be able to call? He should have already seen the parole board, but when he does how long does it really take to know if he is granted parole? Sorry for so many questions, this is just a touhg time, and I really need to know what were all up against at this point? He is only on a 2 year sentence and he went in as a trustee, is that really a good sign?
Hello Clarissa, You can use the Inmate Locator found on the left side of the site to look up your boyfriend and get information about what unit he is in. Also, make note of what his TDC number is. Then, you can use JPay, found at http://www.jpay.com to send money to him. They keep track of where he is at based on his TDC number. You can also use JPay to write to him, it costs .44 a page, just like a postage stamp, and they will print out the letter in the mail room of his unit and deliver it to him. Generally, he will receive it the day after you send it, so it is a lot faster than mail. You can attach photos too, but I hear they are black and white prints so not so awesome. Regarding the parole board, you can call the hotline to get information about whether his case has been reviewed, etc. The number is 512-406-5202. The line is ALWAYS busy, just be patient and wait on hold. You will need his TDC number to get information. Regarding visits, yes, you do need to wait the 30 days. You can call the unit he is at and ask them if he is allowed visitors and also confirm you are on his visitation list. Lastly, I would like to recommend that you visit PrisonTalk at http://www.prisontalk.com and go to the Texas section of the forum. There is TONS of information there, and lots of helpful people that can let you know all the answers when dealing with TDC. Good luck to you and your boyfriend.
can you please email me at cynthiafuentes20@yahoo.com to know what is my fiancee’s mailing address and his realese date please and thank you if yall do
I’m wondering why my Bro was kept so long when this was his first crime, not saying he shouldn’t have been locked up for commiting the crime but folks that done killed many people don’t do as much time as he has done he’s about to complete his entire sentence, he went in as a child now coming out as a grown man is there anyway someone can help me to understand why he hasn’t come home yet……
My Brothers name is Calvin Toliver he’s been a problematic child since a kid due to my mother’s boyfriend’s attacks and she getting shot in front of him, I’m his big sis and I’m just concerned for his welfare his spin number is 659634 if I can get any info on why they are holding him for as long as they have.
This site is wrong u guys just post up what u see but my dad didn’t do what u all say he did and the punishment doesn’t fit the crime anyway Free MANUEL SOTO!! “SHINE”
hey i wonted to see if i could visit micah lazaro?
Hi,
What you need to do is first use this locator tool to find what unit Micah is at and what his TDC number is. Then you can find out the phone number and address for the unit he is at here: http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/unit_directory/index.html. Call the unit and ask them if you are on Micah’s visitor list. You can also write to him, be sure to put his TDC number on the envelope by his name. You will need his TDC number to do this. Good luck to you and Micah.
i am looking for leticia cavazos i want to send her a letter i miss her so much can u help?
Hi if you use the locator tool here and enter her name you can find her. Once you know the unit she is at and her TDC number you can send her a letter. Just add her TDC number after her name on the envelope and send it to the unit she is at. You can find all the addresses for the units at http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/unit_directory/index.html. Good luck to you and Leticia.
I would like to know where my dad has been moved to and when is he coming out joseluis cazares #1614936 &&also i would like to know my cousins release date miguel casarez #185335????
I want to know if i can visit him or not. I haven’t seen my uncle for nearly 7 years. He was like a brother to me. Someone please help? No one ever told me what he did to be placed in jail and it would mean everything to me if i got to see him at least once. If i am under 18 years of age, is it possible to go to the jail with an adult who is not my parent but is a family member?
If you use the Inmate Locator tool here and locate what unit your uncle is at, you can call the unit and ask if you are on his visitation list and request to come for a visit. They will give you the proper information. If you are not on his list, then you can write to him, using his TDC number and his name and send it to the unit he is at. Ask him to add you to his visitors list.
One of the best things you can do to help your uncle is to write letters to him, inmates really appreciate getting correspondence from the outside world as it helps them feel less lonely and lifts their spirits a lot.
By the way, you can find the addresses and phone numbers for all the units at: http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/unit_directory/index.html
I need emergency help finding my causin please

i been trying to find out the release date of my son roger scott jr. 1078115 he has been in since 2001, everytime he go for parole he turn down i would like to know why? since the time he when in i was not told anything even his lawyer never return my call, i live new orleans, la , not able to see him or find out as his parent I was shut out from him. You don’t know him like me he was rail roaded given the max 15yrs never been in trouble at all his life now but 15yrs because of somebody said no evidence at all I want to know why.
I understand alot of privalges and rights are taking away in jail , but why take away natural design for male and female there will be failures in society but some of them are now bad like murders rapicts child molesters. I have a friend stuck with 28 years and he hustled what was brought over the border his wife drives 400 miles every month they should have protected sex the prison crime rate would drop drastic and some people have money on books. It’s horrible other country’s let men be with a women (nature) Texas allows homosexual activity such as selling wigs bras and even lip stick and soon aids will destroy Medicaid in prison I’m disgusted at the gay engery they allow.
I am trying to obtain the address and where abouts of my grand daughter Brittani N. Powers. She wass sent from Dayton to Gatesville, Texas as of March 1st,2012 and I have not seen her or heard from her in weeks. Who do I call , see , or write for this information? She has a 4 yr. old son who needs her badly! Thanks to those who inform me of the direction I should take.
You should be able to locate her using the TDC Inmate Locator on this page. Enter her name and TDC number if you know it.
if someones release dat was say in july but they came up for parole will they update their release on this website so that i will know exactly his release date is now.
Not necessarily… my release date was updated once I saw parole, to a closer date. But, my ACTUAL release date was about 6 weeks before the date on the inmate locator, and it never was updated properly. In Texas, the best bet is to call the hotline and ask them for the release date, once your inmate has been reviewed by parole. They are very helpful. Sometimes you have to stay on hold for a minute, but once they get on the line, you provide the inmate TDC number and the name, and they will tell you. The number to call is 512-406-5202. Good luck!
my mom is in jail , she was in TDC ,
she was supposed to get out but another charge came up
i payed for her bond but they wont realease
her cause TDC has her on hold .
what does it mean by “on hold”
I am sorry to hear that. “Oh hold” means that before she could get bonded out they found out that TDC has other charges against her. Was she previously in prison with TDC? Or, was she on probation and did not complete it successfully? If so they could have issued a warrant for her to serve the time from that charge. I wish I could tell you more but I don’t think she is going to be able to bond out until the situation with TDC is cleared up. That could mean any number of things so you will really need to get some more information if you can. Do you go visit or talk to her on the phone? She should know what’s behind it.
LOOKING FOR A GOOD FRIEND keenan KABELL i cant find him
Hi, my name is Angela. I have 2 sons in prison, Paul. Perry & Holden Perry, as well as my husband Shane Hickson. I wanted to say thank you for all the information & questions you answer. I have a site on FaceBook, Angels For Inmates (can also be found on Angela Angel Hickson fb page) where myself & daughter help inmates find pen pals. A free service. We like to post help for families & welcome any post on either page from families & friends who need help, rides, just want to post a picture or poem, or leave a message for the person they miss. I would like to know if we can post information how to get to this site & to also let caring people know we are always in need of pen pals. You are doing a wonderful job getting information to families & loved ones & even answering questions. We need more people in this world who care instead of only judgemental people putting all inmates into one category of “bad” people. You are loved & cared about. Much love, Angela with Angels For Inmates
Hi Angela, thank you. Yes, you can post it in a comment on the blog or send me the information at rivers@intexasprison.com and I can make a post about it. It sounds like a good thing you are doing! What sate are your family incarcerated in and is your penpal program for the entire country? Thanks again. Peace ~~
I just want to say I love and miss my son whom is in clemmons unit. I live in New Mexico and very hard to visit him.

Sharon, Texas Dept of Corrections doesn’t publish booking photos but a lot of times the city or county jail he was booked into will have photos. Try looking up the website for wherever he was taken in to. Good luck to you. ~TM
Been 2yrs….Sorry
i would like to know CRYSTAL ROSE RELEASE DATE TDCJ#1559711-SID#08013776 ARE DID SHE MAKE PAROLE I WANT TO TELL THEM SHE HAVE A PLACE TO STAY SO WHAT SHOULD I DO IF SO?HER BABY’S FATHER HERE SPEAKING!
I cannot tell you if she made parole, but there are 2 numbers you can call:
Offender Parole Status Line-Austin,
direct 512-406-5202
Offender Parole Status Line-Huntsville,
direct 936-291-2106
You will need the TDCJ# and the name, and they will tell you. Also, you can send the parole board a parole packet beforehand, that tells them she can stay with you. Good luck to you both!
I need to know what was my son time given , was told by lawyer 7-8 mo. And he should come home????? Kenneth Robinson I’m looking to see him soon I miss him , love mom
I’m wondering , why parole denied, kenneth ,lawyer said 8-9 mo. So how much time did he sign, I need him outta there….
Hello Cheryl, there is no telling why his parole was denied. Do you write to him and does he write to you? When he was denied they would have reviewed his case, as well as his behavior and progress since entering prison, and make a decision. Sometimes it’s as simple as the state is requiring him to take certain classes while in prison, and he has not been able to complete them yet. Many times this is not the inmates fault, as the classes can be filled up before he can get in. Also, if he got in any trouble while in prison, etc. this will affect his parole.
One thing I will say is my lawyer was NOT right when they told me how much time to expect. In my experience and what I now know, lawyers may know how to manage the court case and what the sentence will be, but they don’t know anything about what really happens or what time will be served once the person is sent to prison. So don’t count on what they said.
If you want to learn more, one good resource is a site called “http://www.prisontalk.com“. Go to the Parents and Family forum and read up some there, also there is a Texas section with a lot of good information. Good luck to you and your son. ~TM
Cheryl, if you use the tool up above and put in your son’s information you can find out where he is and what his projected time is. There are multiple Kenneth Robinsons in the system so you will need to enter the information and see which one he is. Also, if he is still in county jail, after sentencing and waiting for transfer to prison, he won’t show up in this tool. Hope this helps and best of luck to you both. ~TM
Trying to find out if they moved him yet still says hes in gurney can you let me know or is there a place closer to dallas then huntsville checked but they dont have him is it because of his sentence or not its my nephew joseph m meisenbach
Hello Joseph, Yes, the Inmate Finder still shows him in Gurney. In my experience it is usually pretty up to date, so he is probably still there. It can take awhile for him to get to his home unit. There are units all over Texas, some close to Dallas, but they don’t put the inmates in places close to their families, so it’s just a matter of luck if he ends up close or far from you. Good luck to you and your nephew. ~TM
Release Felix Cibrian- Allred unit. He has served for his wrongdoings and trust that he has learned from it. give him a chance. thank you
Hopefully he will soon be released. Hang in there and good luck to you both. ~TM
I am looking to find what unit Gil Alberto Valdez is in. He was just sentenced on 05/30/2012. This was in Galveston county, I am not sure if that makes a difference. Also, how do I find out his TDCJ number?
Thank you for the help
Hi Brandy, it looks like he isn’t in the system yet. That isn’t surprising, it can take 2-3 days and you are just now hitting that. Are you familiar with JPay? It’s a way to send money to your inmate. I have found that many times http://www.JPay.com will show an inmates location and TDC number quicker than the TDC Inmate Locator, when they are moved. This is just hsi sentencing though so it still might take a couple days. Just stay calm and keep checking, he WILL show up. Right now there are 4-5 people already with that name but none that were just sentenced on the 30th. Look at the details and you will be able to figure out which one he is when it gets in the system. Good luck to you and Gil. ~TM

My boyfriend just recently got transferred to a pre-release facility. His eligibility for parole was on 5/29/2012. Does that mean he will be released for parole soon?
i WOULD LIKE TO WRITE DANNY MAZUERA DONT KNOW WHERE TO SEND IT
WE THE FAMILY OF MARIO B. HERNANDEZ HAVE UNDERSTOOD THAT HE SAW PAROLE ON THE 3OTH OF AUGUST AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF HE WILL BE RELEASED SOON CAUSE WE ALL MISS HIM DEARLY. THANKS
I am trying to find out what facility my wife Perales, Sherry is located at. My family and I have had no contact from her in over a week, since she was trabsferred from Smith county into TDC. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated and help put our minds at ease. Thank you
Hi Joe, Sorry it took so long to reply. I bet by now you have located your wife, but the TDC Inmate Locator shows she is at Dawson, and that she will be eligible for parole in late November. You can put in her last and first name and the details come right up, in case you need them. It would be good to start on her parole packet soon. You can find information about preparing a parole packet at http://www.prisontalk.com, go the regional section for Texas, then under Parole, and there is a whole thread dedicated to how to prepare a parole packet. Good luck to you and her.
Ok i was wondering what happened to welester ulises lerma-perez he was charged with murder was incarcerated in harris county jail but is no longer there how can i know where hes at??
Heidi, I was able to locate that name, he was sentenced on Aug. 20 to 40 years for a conviction of Murder. He is at Garza-West, but he might end up getting moved from there eventually, because it is a transfer unit. His TDC Inmate number is 01806492. He will be eligible for parole in 2031. You can write to him by putting his name AND HIS INMATE NUMBER (This is important) on the envelope, and send it to Garza-West, 4250 Highway 202, Beeville, TX 78102. Remember, your letters will be read by authorities before he receives them. Letters are so important to inmates, they help us a lot, they let us remember home, and the outside. Receiving mail is one of the things we all look forward to. Best of luck to you and Welester. If you wanted to ever send him something, I mentioned a couple books in some of my posts that really helped me. One in particular is “We are all Doing Time” by Bo Lozoff. It has given MANY facing long sentences a lot of hope and a new way of seeing and thinking about things. Peace to you.
I would like to know where mark Gonzalez is
Heather, I apologize for the slow response. It is impossible to say where Mark Gonzalez is without more information, as that is a common name in Texas. Use the TDCJ Inmate Locator, and enter not only his name but his birth date, and you should come up with it. If you don’t know his birthday, then use the locator with just his name and then use process of elimination to review all the incarcerated “Mark Gonzalez” and figure out by age, and what they are incarcerated for, which one is your guy. Good luck to both of you!
free my daddy ! been 16 years with out him i love and miss him alot :/
I WILL LIKE TO KNOW IF MY WIFE STILL IN TDC IN TEXAS HER NAME IS MONICA VELAZQUEZ
Hello Jose, it does not appear that Monica Velazquez in currently in TDC, her name does not come up in their search tool. Is that her full name?
Hello iWould Like To Find Out The Release Date For Jose RuizGouea He Was Arrested On June 11, 2012 &’ iCant Find Any iNformation … Please Help !
-thanks
Hello Karen, This name does not come up in the Texas Inmate Locator, it’s possible he is still in jail awaiting sentencing. Have you checked the county jail where he was arrested? That would be the first step. Good luck!
My nephew was moved to TDCJ I was wondering what is the address there for his family to write him # 01813889. Please let us know something. Thanks
Hi Karen, thanks for your post. Your nephew is in the Lindsey Unit.
The address is:
Lindsey State Jail
1620 FM 3344
Jacksboro, TX 76458
Be sure to include your nephews full name and TDC Number on his correspondence, as well as your name and address on the return. And, do not send cash or any other items, and be aware that all mail incoming and outgoing is scanned for inappropriate content. This basically includes mention of criminal activities, gangs, etc.
Best of luck to you, your family and nephew. Hang in there!
I heard that my step-dad was in jail and I want to know where. His name is Gustavo Esteban Moreno Sr. I need to find him.
Hi Joy, I located your stepdad. I have sent you a private email with all the details. Best of luck to you and your family.
POSS CS 1-4G WIT DEL, what does this mean? Also i am looking for my cousin. I have a number to identify him but apparently not tdcj. The number is 60235279. What is this number and where is he located? His name is Ernesto Castillo. Please and thank you!
Hi Pete, POSS CS 1-4G WIT DEL is shorthand for “Possession of between 1 to 4 grams of a controlled substance, with intent to deliver” which means your cousin had that amount of a controlled substance and they believe he meant to sell it (which is worse than just having it for personal use)
There are 4 Ernesto Castillo’s currently in TDC, it’s not such an uncommon name. If you have his middle initial or date of birth, it will narrow it down. None of those currently incarcerated are showing the charge you mentioned. Also, you are correct, that number is not coming up, it could be his county jail ID number.
It is possible he is still in county jail, awaiting his sentencing. It can take a long time. You might check there, and see if you locate him.
Hope this information helps, and best of luck to you and your cousin.

I was looking for an inmate name Pedro Chavez thats locked up in Middleton unit….he was born march 30, 1980…..he should be out already but not sure…what does TIME RELEASE mean….is he like in a halfway house or something
I looked him up and found Pedro Chavez with dob of Mar 11, not 30, is that him? It shows “Temp Release” which can mean he was sent from the prison to another facility, like a county jail somewhere, on an outstanding bench warrant. In other words, if he was due to be released first they check all the outstanding warrants. If he had a warrant somewhere, they send him to face those charges wherever they are. If you call the prison they might be able to tell you something, or if you know of where he was staying before incarceration you might check the county jail for that area. Hope this helps.
i am trying to look form my daddy its been years since i have communicated with him since you can say i was 9 or 10 years old now i am 18 years old.

Free my Daddy =/
Hi Sandra, I am sorry to hear this, it must be very hard to not know your dad’s whereabouts. I also used the Inmate Locator tool and like you, I did not find a person of that name. Could he be in Federal prison instead of Texas prison? If his offense was a Federal offense that may be the case. I hope you are able to locate him. Do you know what prison unit he was originally? Take care, and hang in there. I wish I had some answers for you.
Hello, I would like to know the release date of my boyfriend Travis Leighton.
Thank You,
Hannah
Hey Hannah, your boyfriend is eligible for parole as of 1/15/13. His projected release date is June, 2014. Has he seen the parole board yet? If so they will review his case and decide when he will be paroled, and under what conditions. This process can take a little while to get through, be patient. If you visit http://www.prisontalk.com, you can find the section on Texas and there you will find a lot of good information about the parole process. Best of luck to you and your boyfriend. Peace ~
I know someone that was in prison and the information says Projected Release Date: 2007-08-25 Parole Eligibility Date: 2006-06-30 but under current facility it says temp release. He is out and has been a while. What does that mean where it says temp release? He said he was just released, no parole or anything like that. Thank you for your time.
Colinda
Hi Colinda, usually “Temp” means he is “”temporarily” away from the unit he is housed at. This can be for instance, if he is due to be released and then he has some pending charge, even a misdemeanor, in a county court somewhere, they will transfer him to that county jail to deal with it.
What is unusual is that your friend is OUT and it’s still showing Temp. This isn’t what you would normally see. If he is out, even if he were on parole, he won’t show up in the Prison Inmate Locator from TDC, his name will just come up blank. For this reason, I wonder if you are sure you have found the right person in the locator? If he has a somewhat common name, you might want to make sure you have the right Date of Birth to confirm it is him.
The only other thing I can think of is perhaps the Inmate Locator just simply has some old information still stored for him, but that isn’t what you would normally see. For instance, I was released last March and my name stopped showing up on the Locator right when I was released. Hope this information is helpful, and best of luck.
Hi, My husband was in the John Middleton Unit the last I heard. I know that he will probably be moving to another unit. I was wondering if he had moved to a new unit yet and if so where. I tried clicking the link to the left for inmate search but it never popped up to where I could search for him.
Hi Elizabeth, the Inmate Locator will show right in the page on the site. You should be able to enter your husbands details and find him easily using this tool.
Best of luck to you and your husband.
My nephew was just sent somewhere & i would like to find him. Phillip Scott Perry
D.o.b. 4/3/89
Hi Magdalena, your nephew is at Garza West. That is a transfer unit and most inmates will pass through there but will be sent on to another unit as their home unit. He does show in the inmate locator as there now. If they move him, it can take a day or two to update, but if you mail him at Garza West they will forward the mail to wherever he is. Also, if you use JPay to send money or electronic letters to him, JPay will automatically update when he is moved somewhere too.
Best of luck to you and your nephew.
Hi my big brother Gary Sessions #00670723 has an 43yrs sentence but been incarcerated for 21yrs for murder. And what I need to know is when is his next parole hearing? Do you know of any good affordable parole attorneys and how do I go about with the process?
Hi Angel, I really don’t have an answer for you regarding the next parole hearing. If he is eligible for parole and been denied before then they he will be told shortly before his next parole hearing comes up, and he can write and let you know as well.
Regarding parole attorneys, I don’t know if “good” and “affordable” really fit in the same sentence. Many people don’t feel that a parole attorney is going to help much anyway. The most important thing is the inmate himself, they want to see him taking advantage of any offered classes or counseling, participating in anything they want him to, and things like church, AA, NA, etc. and of course, the number one issue is for him to stay out of trouble while incarcerated and not to affiliate with other inmates that can cause him trouble.
Other than that, you can write to the parole board and express how you and other family members will support him when he gets out, for instance, that you will allow him to live in your home, or that a friend already has a job lined up for him, etc. The parole board wants to parole somebody that will have support to make it on the outside. After 21 years it will be challenging for your brother to find employment, a place to live, etc. That is why it’s important to show he has the support of family and friends. Best of luck to you and your brother.
Hi, my name is Julie & my fiancĂ©e Robert Wesley Nutt, d.o.b. 11/23/79, is up for parole on April 20th this year. He was just convicted on Feb. 28th & was only just transferred to Middleton the end of March. I’m so lost to all of this! I need to get a parole packet together, but I’m not even sure what all I need to send? I’ve even heard that you should even send pics so the parole board has a better idea of his personality and his character? He has a prior felony conviction back from 2004, back then he was dealing drugs, was caught with a substantial amount of meth, & had a firearm, so I know they will hold that against him? He was pulled over this time for speeding, it was his girlfriend at the time’s vehicle & she was with him, & the highway patrol decided to search her vehicle when Wesley admitted he was a felon. He found a couple joints, which were Wesley’s but he also found a couple extasy tabs which were packed away inside a box (she was moving & they were in transit to Colorado). He admitted to them being his, because she had her young daughter with them. That being said, (sorry for the long story!) do you think he stands a chance at making parole, is there anything I can do or say to sway the board, & do you think they will hold it against him because it is another drug charge? Wes really has done a complete turn around (except for the weed!) since he served his prior prison time…he had a part time job (it’s all he could find at the time), & has a big heart & always helped anyone in need & for the community in general. Anyway, thank you so much for your time & for all you do to help with this website!!
Hi Julie. Have you ever visited http://www.prisontalk.com? It is a very large forum that has sections for every state (and other countries even!). If you go to Prison Talk, and then go to the Texas section, you will find a whole section dedicated to Parole Preparation. It has some excellent sticky threads near the top with explicit instructions about preparing a parole packet.
A few things to remember is to keep to the facts that the parole board will be interested in. Mainly, that you and your boyfriends family and friends can provide him with the support he needs. They will want to know he has a stable home to go to, and some kind of financial support or help while he gets his feet on the ground and gets a job, etc. If there is a possible job lined up for him, that will be excellent. If you go to church regularly and he will be joining you there once he is home, it’s worth mentioning.
They truly see 100′s of parole packets all the time, so don’t send too much unnecessary stuff, they don’t have time for it. Photos won’t make or break it, but showing a photo of a decent home or family he will stay with won’t hurt.
It’s almost impossible to say if he will make parole, on the one hand, the prisons are very overcrowded and they are paroling pretty quickly. On the other, he barely started his sentence and he is a repeat offender. My opinion would be that they will want him to complete some sort of drug aversion counseling in TDC before they grant parole. In my case, when I saw parole, I was mandated to finish drug counseling first.
All the various levels of parole and what they mean are very clearly explained at Prison Talk. Also, you will find many people in the exact same shoes as you, who can offer a lot of good information and support. I strongly suggest you give it a try, it’s a very active forum. Best of luck to you and your fiance.
