Texas Prison Inmate Locator

By Texas Magnum

Do you need to find someone in Texas prison? If a family member or loved one has been sent to prison, you may be wondering how to locate them, write to them and stay in touch while they do their time.

I used to be able to display a form on this page that let folks search for inmates within TDC but the folks at TDCJ have changed the way things work and I cannot make it work now. I hope to have a solution soon. Meanwhile please continue to send your questions to me and I will keep trying to help y’all. Sorry for the hassle.

You can also check these other pages I have with information about Texas prison, Federal prison, and, soon to come, county jails in Texas.

Hi Rose I hope all is well. I have a question… Do you know what FI-2 means in a parole decision? I just found out my husband got approved for parole after the 1st time and it says this online:
    Last Parole Decision
    Approved on 04/29/2016

FI-2 (07/2016)- Release on parole on a specified future date (07/2016).

Any idea on if 7/2016 is when he will be released?

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Shaneka – F1-2 is good, that means he is approved to be released on a certain date and he doesn’t have to complete requirements or anything. You will probably be hearing of the date soon. Peace ~ Magnum

      • Shaneka says:

        Thanks Magnum that’s awesome! I can’t wait!

        • Rose says:

yay!!! That is so awesome I’m so excited for yall!!! Does the 7/2016 match up with his PRD? If I’m thinking correctly he should be released or a release date set in July! Ahhh yall are almost done! All is moving forward okay here…just hanging out and holding on lol. Been a sucky weekend with my grandbaby sick with a tummy bug, I’m ready to go back to work tomorrow so I can have a break lol. I’m so very excited for you!!!

          • Shaneka says:

I know how you feel Rose, I have 3 boys and when they’re sick it’s the worst. And yes work is a nice little getaway sometimes lol. No his PRD still says 10-20-2016 on the tdcj site. So maybe it will change since the parole decision was just made this past Friday. I’m not sure but I hope so! Yes this storm is almost over I’ve been praying and keeping the faith. Thank you Rose!

Hi, all! I have a question.. I finally got my first regular visit with my husband on Saturday, after what seemed like forever with him in Intake at Holliday. First parole denied (expected) on 04/14 — but first thing this morning I see he’s been moved to Lychner (medical??) AND he’s under Parole Review again? I’m so confused about all of this… His PRD is in October 2016, they’ve started his SSN card, Birth Certificate and stuff, but I don’t understand his parole review again already? Is it because he’s moved? Thanks for any advice!

        • Rose says:

My understanding is when they first go in they get reviewed after six months, then again the next six months. If both of those are denied then its yearly. That PRD is a pretty good guess as to when he will be out, my experience any way. Looks to me like they are getting him ready to go home on/around his PRD. As long as he doesnt have any cases or any issues in there holding him back he should do good this review. Hang in there!

          • Cel says:

Does anybody know if my husband is at Willacy County but originally from San Antonio can support letters be sent to the Parole in Austin or does he have to send it to a specific IPO?? I’m just wondering if the letters would get lost or if they get transferred to where they belong??

          • Rose says:

I believe they all end up in his file…but I would want my support letters to be at the office of the board he is under. I would worry that they didn’t make it in time or maybe didn’t get sent. I’m a worrier like that lol.

          • Cel says:

How do u find out where they go?? He’s in a private jail. They are so inconsistent there I hate it.

          • Rose says:

I just googled parole board rudd unit is how I found which one I needed…if you give me the unit name Ill look for you.

          • Cel says:

He’s at the Willacy County State Jail

          • Rose says:

This is the board for that unit.

        • Cel says:

Thank you so much Rose!! I greatly appreciate your help my husband doesn’t believe this discussion board exists lol. Btw if parole is denied the first time, do I resubmit new letters??

          • Rose says:

Youre welcome!! I know how much help this site was to me and I’m just trying to pay it forward. I sent a letter the second time around, but am probably the only one that did in our case. I know everything stays in their file but I just felt like an updated letter would be good.

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Rose, how’s it going in your world? I’ve been having a hard time making it on here to reply, and keep up with everyone. And there isn’t a lot going on here lately, not so many questions. That is normal, there are ups and downs. Anyway, hope you are doing well. Thanks for keeping an eye out on here. Peace to you and your family ~ Magnum

          • Rose says:

Hey Magnum! Was thinking of posting a how yall doing post lol. Been wondering about you! All is well…all kids doing great…waiting on resolution of the second dwi situation, but that too has brought good…just coasting along working on my house and enjoying no bs lol. Hope all is well with you and your family. This page is just a part of my morning coffee routine and sometimes randomly during the day when I need a break from life lol. So glad to hear from you!!

          • Texas Magnum says:

Right on, Rose, glad to hear things are going well. I need to get writing a new blog post, got a couple things in mind and will try to get to that pretty quick. By the way, if you ever want to write a post from the point of view of a parent of someone incarcerated that would be real cool. Just throwing it out there. Peace ~ Magnum

          • Rose says:

Looking forward to reading a new post! Thanks for the offer, I may just do that!

        Hey Magnum,
So my boyfriend was approved for parole on May 15, 2016. He was approved FI-3R (08/2016). I called parole hot line and they said he would be home in November but the facility said he would be home in August if he finish his class. I don’t know who is right. He was picked up on the 16th and is currently at Bryd Unit. How long do you think he’ll be there and will they send him anywhere after he leaves Bryd? Thanks in Advance!

      • Nieceyy says:

        • Rose says:

Do you know his projected release date? That’s usually pretty accurate as to when they will be home. No telling on staying or transferring…they move them as they want to move them lol. But if Byrd is not a release unit he will transfer closer to home time to a release unit.

          • Nieceyy says:

His projected release date is his Maximum Sentence date which is May 12, 2016. I just want to you know FI-3R (08/2016) means?

          • Texas Magnum says:

F1-R3 is that he will be transferred to a rehab unit, like Segovia or even just another unit with a Changes class. What happens sometimes is completing a class or rehab is a condition for release – that is what F1-R3 means – but they can’t get him a space at the rehab or class. Once he completes that he will be released on parole.

          • Rose says:

I honestly don’t know what in the world. Ive not heard of anyone being there past their max date.

          • Nieceyy says:

            Sorry I meant May 12,2017.

          • Rose says:

lol okay that makes more sense…ditto what Magnum said. You will just have to check the site or with Release closer to August to see what an actual release date is. Hang in there, looks like its almost over!

  2. jtdaddi says:

how do u know UR person of interest is safe?

    • Rose says:

There is no way to know 100%…you just pray and wait to hear from them. They are okay, its not fun and at times its hard but they are okay.

  3. I have another question. I looked at the parole review for my son. I understood everything except this

NEXT REVIEW (11/2016)- Deny favorable parole action and set for next review.
can you explain? Does this mean he is going to be denied again?

    • Rose says:

That means is first parole was denied and they will review him again 11/16. You can pretty much use his PRD (projected release date) as a guideline. Seems that most times as long as they do good in there and stay out of trouble that date is a pretty good idea of when they are getting out.

      • Marie says:

My boyfriend has been in prison for 3 years. He just got denied parole 2 months ago. That was the second time he went for parole and they denied him. His official date to get out is 2019. Just want to know what this means? Will he be able to get parole next year?

        Denied on 03/29/2016

NEXT REVIEW (03/2017)- Deny favorable parole action and set for next review.

        • Rose says:

What is the projected release date? A lot of times this is the date to keep your eye on…as long as they don’t get in any trouble that’s a pretty good judge of when they are getting out. Theres not way to know 100% when they will vote to approve parole…all you can do is wait it out. It sucks I know. Hang in there!

    • Tlynn says:

Hi. My fiancé was at the Holliday unit and I sent him a package. Now it’s saying he was moved to the Goodman unit. Will he still receive the package?

  4. Yvette says:

My husband is supposed to be in a safp program but he’s been to three different units ( Byrd, darrington, garza west) I also haven’t heard from him in three weeks.

    • Rose says:

I didn’t deal with safp but did hear thru my son and others in there that theres a waiting list. I’m sorry you haven’t heard from him, hopefully you will hear from him soon either by mail or phone. How long has he been in there? I mean how close together are these transfers?

  5. jo says:

Hi Iam looking for my friend she was last in corpus county but got transferred how can i find out where she got transferred to

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Jo, If you go to offender.tdcj.texas.gov/OffenderSearch/ and enter your friend’s name and any other information you have, it will bring up her name if she was just transferred from County to TDC. It can take a couple days for her to show up, but once she does you can send her mail. Always include the TDC number that you will see, that is her ID in prison and it has to be on the envelope. Remember everything you write to your friend will be reviewed before she gets her mail. You can use a service like JPay.com to send her mail via “email” – which you write on the computer and the prison prints out and gets it to her. She must reply using regular paper and pencils. If you can add money to her commissary account via JPay.com or Western Union, she can buy stamps, envelopes, and all that. Good luck to you and your friend and peace to y’all ~ Magnum

good morning. quick question. my husband was in middleton for almosst 60 days. he never got to use the phone.but i was lucky enough to go see him last week. he got transfered to rudd unit this week. do you know why they get transfered to other transfer facilites. he got approved for parole . but he has a hold for state jail. so im guessing he will be moved there soon. another question. does every time he gets moved does the process of waiting to make calls and visits start all over.

    • Rose says:

Hi Ana…my son was at Rudd and stayed until released, then transferred to Huntsville for release. Rudd is a transfer facility but it also houses those with 2 years or less. Since your husband went from Middleton to Rudd then he probably will not go to one of the State Jail Divisions. My son had a 2 year TDCJ and 6 month State Jail. He did not make his first parole…but after the six months passed he did get a line class change and good time added so that his PRD was a few weeks closer. He did make his second parole and was released Nov 25 of last year. I don’t know what your husbands charge is, that kinda depends on things as well as how they behave/adjust in there. Rudd is awesome because unless they get restricted then all the visits are contact! I only had to see my son once thru glass then the rest of the time we sat across the table from each other. Your husbands PRD is probably a pretty good estimate of when he will be released. If they release him on an ankle monitor then he will go to Huntsville for release. Hope this helps a little! Hang in there!

    • Rose says:

I’m sorry, I forgot your question about waiting on phone calls/visits. My experience is that the longest you have to wait is 48-72 hours, just to give them time to do the voice recognition stuff for the phone and get him all processed. No more waiting like that first round.

      • ana says:

So quick rundown and questions. My husband was sentenced to 4 years tdc and 2 years state on 2/2016 to run concurrent. He was eligible for parole on 3/1/2016. We send support letters and got I got a call from parole asking questions about him and were he would stay after..all the normal parole process. He got an Fi-1 and parole approved on 3/25. He was in middleton for the first 55 days. After parole got approved he was moved to Rudd, then Huntville. The tdc online system said his PRT was 7/2017 and released to detainer under the parole section and release location is hunstville. I spoke to the parole people earlier this week, they told me he is being transferred to Hutchins by the end of this week and he should do the rest of his 2yr state sentence there. He had some back time from his previous stays at county. Well now the system says PRD of 10/2017 and no information of parole is there. It says info not available. My question is why do they change information on the system and does parole approval ever change? After they approved it can they change their minds? BTW its been almost 70 days and he has not seen ucc and still unable to make calls. Very frustrating. He also has been in like 4 different locations in 1 week, so im not sure if he is able to get my jpay. Last night I tried sending him a letter on jpay and It said error, inmate/ location not found or not match found. Very weird.

        • Rose says:

I know your letters will follow him and catch up to him, how long this takes I don’t know, probably a while ugh. They update the system according to their records. I don’t know why his PRD changed unless it was to bring the PRD closer to the 2 year mark on the state jail sentence. Its my understanding that the state jail sentences are day for day and if I remember correctly they have to do at least 85% of that before release. The detainer may be the state jail sentence, which will have to be completed before release. JPAY may not of found him last night because he was being moved to Hutchins. I’m sorry I’m not much help…I would be calling and driving people crazy wanting straight answers, which sometimes are hard to get as it seems everyone tells you something different. The site too maybe waiting to update with his new unit, etc. As with any sentence/parole I would keep my eye on the PRD as being pretty close to accurate on release date. Hang in there!

        • mindy says:

Hi ana!! My boyfriend is in a similar boat to yours. He got 2 years TDCJ and six months state jail. He was approved parole on 4/20. Its been 53 days and he still hasn’t been moved to a different unit and we still arent able to make calls. Have you been able to do so since this post? and I was wondering how you were able to have someone answer your questions. I tried to ask this lady about where he might be transferred or when but they said they werent allowed to say anything which I understand because they dont want any to have a planned escape but was curious to know how I could get more info than I already have

    • Rose says:

I found this on state jail sentencing…https://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/divisions/cid/cid_support_ops_class_HB2649.html

Everything is based on how they adjust in there and act. Praying you get some answers and that things go as smoothly as possible.

      • ana says:

So he is finally at hutchins. When he went to state his tdc number also changed. i was not aware of that. so when i was trying to send him a jpay or money it would not allow me to because of the inmate number not matching. so i had to add his new number to my jpay account. i was not aware of that. I am just hoping he does the voice recognition soon so he can call. and i hope and pray i get to see him this weekend. 70 plus days without hearing him seams like forever! i was not aware they would take this long. Thanks for all your help. thanks for the website info! this process and learning the system is no fun.

      • Texas Magnum says:

Huh, that must be something new. I never heard of that. I was told State Jail is always day for day. The whole State Jail sentence is a messed up thing anyway if you read the history of it. It works out cruddy because you can do more time on a State Jail offense which is a lesser offense, than you can for a TDC offense. Maybe that is why they do this credit thing now.

        • Rose says:

Its crazy for sure! Ana your situation in comparison with mine proves that they do what they want and how they want with stuff and nothing is ever the same inmate by inmate. They had told my son that since he had 2 years tdcj and 6 months state he would just go to tdcj because it was less work/hassle than if he went to state jail and had to be transferred, cut down on paperwork by doing just the time in tdcj instead of both places. Obviously that’s not always the case since yours is complete opposite of what we were told. Hoping and praying you get to visit and have calls soon…those things keep them hanging in there and us too!

          • ana says:

Yes i am learning all cases are totally diffrent. Thanks for that web site i told him what he needs to do to get the 20% time reduction. i got a letter finally afer 2 weeks. but in total he has been in the tdc system for 75 days. crazy how it takes so long. he is stillnot able to get visitors and make calls. he doesnt have to go through the whole process. all he needs to see now is sociology and ucc. then he should be able to see visitors. it just gets so frushtrating waiting and waiting. but he is doing ok so that was good to know. I wonder how long it takes for state to finish their process.

          • Rose says:

I’m sorry this processing is taking so long for him…I can only imagine how frustrating it is for you. All you can do is wait and wait some more, something I’m not great at lol. Hang in there…each day is a day closer to it being over!

  7. ivett says:

Wha is parole like, is there anyway that hr can put another address on there that he can stay he said he put mine and his moms informatiob but they only calld his mom so guessing that the only address they will have for him is there anyway he can add ajother

    • Rose says:

They parole out to one address only…my son had our address down and then asked about changing it to his wifes, but was told it can prolong parole and that it was easier/faster to change address once out…so he just left it alone.

  8. Amy Howell says:

So, my fiance has an 8 year sentence, went up for parole the first time but was denied. he is now under parole review again but all of a sudden was transferred. His project release date is a year from now, but he has not done anything wrong, was in faith based dorm, during the parole interview they asked him for my information etc. we are under the impression he will make parole, so is the transfer a good thing? I mean he is being transferred while in the process. Also the chain was the biggest that unit had seen, like 49 people made chain, several have already been approved and several, like him are in the process and then the rest are about to be in the process. I’m praying this means they are moving him closer to home to get him ready to come home. He has nothing on him that would warrant any classes he has to take before being released and he was proactive and joined any class available so it would look good to parole board. Are there any thoughts on this?

    • Rose says:

I don’t know that the transfer has anything to do with parole. They transfer to different units for different reasons, sometimes just because of availability of room/space. I don’t have any experience with an 8 year sentence, so I really cant speak to that…what experience I do have is that the PRD is usually a good guide as to release date. I know every little thing gives us some hope and that is good, just try not to focus too much on it…so if it doesn’t work out the way you want then you wont be tooooo disappointed. Praying for you that this is all a good sign and a good thing.

  9. ivett says:

I called tdc (a number they had emailed me when i sent an email asking about someone) and they said he still in review and that the projected release date didnt “exist”, his projected releas date was 4/3 now its 4/5, do yal have any idea why they said that and why it would chang

    • Rose says:

That’s odd…I don’t know why they would say that. Id just keep my eye on April. I didn’t find out a date my son was getting out (because his projected release date was a Sunday and they don’t release on weekends) until about two weeks before. Hang in there, I know they are frustrating at times. I think everyone that works in TDCJ and county jails should have to have the experience of being on this side of it then maybe just maybe theyd get it together and have a little more compassion.

    • Rose says:

That’s strange…I don’t know why they would say that, they should be able to see the same dates as you. Sorry I’m not much help, I would think they should know something soon, maybe next week. Hang in there!

  10. Rose says:

Just a random check in on you guys! I know some are in hog heaven right now and others are waiting for that day. Wish I could tell you something to make this easy…all I know is you will get thru it and it shall pass! I go pick up my oldest son tonight at midnight and am so praying that we are done with jail stuff. Got a bit of trouble going on now with my daughter, but am so praying that probation will be extended and not revoked…dear Lord I’m over this ride lol. Magnum hope youre doing great…thinking about you all and praying all is well!

    • Texas Magnum says:

Rose I am sorry to hear your daughter is not seeing her brothers experiences and trying her best not to follow their footsteps. Hope it turns out OK for her. You’ve had enough already. Peace ~ Magnum

      • Rose says:

I have my occasional pity party, I am def tired, especially today lol. Just gotta keep walking and trusting that God knows what Hes doin…that’s all I know. Thanks Magnum!

    • Shaneka says:

      Hi Rose,

I’ll be praying for the situation with your daughter and hope all comes out well. I’m hanging in there hoping to at least get a letter from my husband soon. He’s only been in the TDCJ system going on 2 weeks now I’ve sent several Jpay letters. I hope he’s receiving them and I know due to processing in he can’t make any calls for 30 to 45 days. I’ve put money on his books so I’m hoping he’s bought writing supplies and is able to send letters.

      • Rose says:

Thank you! Praying you hear from him soon! Im sure he is getting your letters, jpay is the best way to go for getting mail to them. Middleton is big and mail going out can take a while. I know those letters are helping him thru this! Still praying!

        • Shaneka says:

Thank you! Yes Rose I got my first letter from him on Friday evening. I was so excited and you’re right he said keep the Jpay letters and pictures coming they’re giving him life.

        • Shaneka says:

Yes they do Rose! How is everything going with your daughter? My husband saw the parole board on the 24th of March, he seemed excited that he may possibly be home in June. I know you said usually they don’t get approved the first time so I’m still looking forward to the projected release in October. Do you know how parole is like the special conditions because they took his moms name and address to parole home to. Can he not come to our home? Or is it just standard that they choose my mother in laws address?

          • Rose says:

My son gave our address to parole to instead of his wifes, as she was living with her parents at that time. Then his wife moved to Austin and he asked about changing the address to parole out to and they told him that its easier to change the address once out. So that’s what he did and it wasn’t a problem. Praying still…and crossing fingers…hang in there!!

          • Rose says:

No new news on my daughter…still just waiting and praying. She did tell her probation officer what had happened…praying they don’t revoke, but otherwise nothing new.

        • Shaneka says:

Hi Rose I hope all is well. I have a question… Do you know what FI-2 means in a parole decision? I just found out my husband got approved for parole after the 1st time and it says this online:
          Last Parole Decision
          Approved on 04/29/2016

FI-2 (07/2016)- Release on parole on a specified future date (07/2016).

Any idea on if 7/2016 is when he will be released?

  11. Cecilly says:

My husband wrote and told me he was called to file for re entry docs. When does this typically occur in the release process, because he’s still in intake and I haven’t even received any phone calls from him.

    • Rose says:

My son saw re-entry at both parole review times…the first time was just an interview…the second time when I felt encouraged that he was coming home they ordered birth certificates, got his Texas ID/Driver License.

    • Cel says:

Yay at least on the bright side you got another letter!! My husband said he tried calling me but I found out two days ago that his phone privileges are like the visits. hes still ineligible. I’m sure your hubs is in the same boat as mine just waiting for eligibility. Did you register your phone with texasprisonphone or securus on jpay? I’m in the same boat as you playing the waiting game. I’ve only received the 3 letters in one envelope but nothing else. Its almost 30 days I guess well have to wait to see if they’ll let us see them by the 45 days.

      • Cecilly says:

Today marks 30 days for me and I am emotionally spent from all the unknown. The anxiety is running high. The waiting is the hardest. I’ve never been good at waiting. I’ll pray for y’all. That everyone stays out of trouble and we’ll receive peace from the Lird in our waiting. Thank y’all so much for being so supportive and caring.

        • Rose says:

Theres this book…Carol Kent is the author I believe the title is When I lay down my Isaac…something like that. Someone suggested I read it last year and I did. It helped me so much thru my sons prison sentence and even other aspects of my life where anxiety would try to get the best of me. If you can get this and read it I think it will help you with anxiety and just overall. Hang in there…praying for you!

Rose I have a quick question. If they get moved facilities do I have to wait another 30-45 days for intake processing to get visits? My husband wrote saying it won’t be another 3 weeks until he can finally get visits but he said they’re moving him So I’m wondering if I have to wait again omg

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Cel, there might be a brief interruption but it won’t be a complete do-over on the intake. Peace ~ Magnum

          • Rose says:

Magnum is right, I think its like 48-72 hours to get settled and back to using phones.

          • Cel says:

Hey quick question my husband wrote to me said he won’t be able to call until he sees “u c c” I’m wondering what that means? He said he will be transferred too but doesn’t know where or when but the letter was dated 3-10 he said no calls for two weeks but he has to meet with the ” u c c” first then it’ll be about 3 more weeks for visits and tomorrow it’ll mark 30 days in there. Just wanted to see any clue what that means or who/what that is?? Thanks!!

          • Rose says:

Hmmm I honestly do not remember my son ever saying u c c about anything, I’m sorry I’m no help on that. But you should be getting your phone call soon! I got my phone call and then about a week later (I think) I got to visit.

        • Cel says:

Thank u Rose so update..he finally got eligible for visits so I didn’t wait I left this morning to go visit him and he was able to call too but I had already left. Apparently UCC is when that assign them their job assignment and level classifications. However he mentioned even though he thinks he might not make his first parole he said that made him do a form to start getting his ss card and birth certificate.. Somebody told him it’s a first step to parole? Do u know how that works or is that just basic for anybody on parole review? I’m on cloud mine finally I get answers and finally got to see him!! I’m overwhelmed with joy!!

          • Cel says:

So remember I said I want to the hubs yesterday? Well today it’s says he’s illegible for visits? So I think something happened or could it be because I already went to go visit him yesterday it says no? Just wondering and hoping nothing happened because he called me as well yesterday and the phone cut off..thx!!

          • Rose says:

It will change back to eligible for visits when the new week starts. That freaked me out the first time I saw it too lol. The forms are all normal, it takes time to get those back. Hes gonna hear lots of different theories on parole in there…it can be a very emotional roller coaster if you take what you hear to heart and kinda count on those. I honestly knowing what I know would just keep my eye on that PRD and kinda count down days to that. That way if it happens earlier you are surprised and pleased, but if it don’t then you still have that date in mind and maybe wont be near as disappointed. I’m glad you got to see him and things are moving forward!

          • Texas Magnum says:

PRD is a good date to look at. It turns out to be a pretty good guideline for most folks. We used to say, when it came to parole and all that, hope for the best and expect the worse. That way you don’t set yourself up for too much disappointment.

          • Cel says:

Does anyone know how the good earning time works and how long it takes after their G levels are assigned before they are transferred to another facility? My husband saw “UCC” and he said most of the time they are transferred that same day but he didn’t so does that mean he will stay there at Garza West? I know its a transfer facility but from my understanding they’re only allowed to max stay there for 2 years and my husband signed for 4 years. Thanks in advance!!

          • Rose says:

Six months with no cases they get their good time and line class change. My sons prd changed from Dec 13 to Nov 25 when he got his good time. There’s no telling how long they stay at the transfer units.

          • Cel says:

Awesome, thank you Rose!! I hope my hubs stays out of trouble. With your help and Magnums I’ve come to my senses not to set my hopes on the first parole but on the PRD instead, thank you again!! By the way do you know how it works with an offender receiving a watch and a wedding ring? My husband told me they’re allowed to wear their wedding ring (if legally married) and a watch but idk how to request to get it to him or if hes the one who has to request? Anyway just wanted to see if you knew how that worked. Thank you so much for your help, its such a blessing to ask you with your knowledge :)

          • Rose says:

I have no idea about the wedding ring, but my son traded some soups or something for a watch that another inmate had and I know they can buy one off commissary. LOL its def an education we wish we wouldn’t of gotten huh? But just pay it forward…what you learn you will be able to help someone else to hold on and hang in there too!

  12. ivett says:

If hes in holliday unit he said he would get transfered to other side of prison, when he does can he still write to me right away or will it be the same as when he got processd the firs time it gonna take a whil

    • Rose says:

any transfers may take just a day or two to be able to call, I think it might be 48 hours, but never as long as the beginning processing.

    • Veronica says:

I need someone’s knowledge of the prison system- my son’s 2nd parole was approved and his release date is April 22,2016– he was in one of the Garza units and at the beginning of March was sent to Holliday- he just wrote me and said he is waiting for another transfer to an I.d. unit and is now a G4– he was told after arriving at Holliday he would stay here till being released, but now is awaiting a transfer. Does this mean he will not be released in April? I am very confused and heart broken- someone please HELP

      • Rose says:

I honestly don’t know how things work if you get G4 after parole approval. I would be watching his release date on the TDCJ site and calling either the unit or the parole board checking is release date. I’m sorry, I know this is hard. Hang in there!

  13. Shaneka says:

    Hello,

My husband has been in since November last year. He signed for 2 years at the end of January this year and just caught chain a few days ago. It’s saying on the website he’s at J Middleton and that his projected release is 10-20-2016. My question is this an accurate date for him to be released? His parole eligibility date was last month before he even left county.

    • Rose says:

Its probably pretty accurate. My son signed for two years and did not make his first parole but did make his second with a release date at his projected release date. That’s the date I recommend keeping your eye on. The only thing that would change to his max date is if he gets in trouble in there or possibly has an extensive record out here.

      • Shaneka says:

Thank you Rose! Another question…it says he was eligible for parole 2-12-16 but at that time he was in county waiting to be transferred. Does that mean his first parole review or board has already passed?

        • Rose says:

I wish I could remember exactly how the site looks…I think that just means that is the first time they are eligible to be reviewed and determine a date for release if approved. If his charge is not an aggravated one and this is his first time down youre probably looking at his PRD as being pretty close to his release date as long as he does good inside.

          • Shaneka says:

Ok Rose thanks and yes this is his first time down. I don’t think his charges are aggravated…how can I tell if they are or not? Also I just checked the tdcj site the yellow parole tab appeared today and it says he is currently in the Parole Review Process. Also says last parole decision none and that he hasn’t been reviewed for parole. The next review date is unavailable at this time. So is it a good time now for his mother and I to write our support letters and send them off? Also where should we send the letters?

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Shaneka, I agree with Rose, you would already know if his charges were aggravated because they would have used that term in his sentencing. It basically boils down to the crime having a violent nature for the most part. Also, if a charge is gotten together with another charge that is violent then the charge can be classified as aggravated. If that makes sense. You would know, though, I’m pretty sure. Peace ~ Magnum

          • Rose says:

You can write letters now…He is under the Amarillo Board right now. Any letters will follow him in his file if he ends up under a different board. My son stayed under the same board at his next unit. If his charges were aggravated you would probably know already, aggravated robbery, assault, etc. The address for Amarillo is

            806-358-6455 Fax

          • Shaneka says:

Thank you so much Rose, you’re awesome! I think this my last question for now lol. His mother sent her letter off to the main TDCJ parole office in Austin, will they forward her letter to the Amarillo office?

          • Rose says:

I would think it would still end up in his file…I’m a crazy person tho and would probably write another and send to Amarillo lol. My brain imagines too many what ifs so I like to cover all bases lol.

          • Shaneka says:

So true lol same here. I was thinking that as well. Thank you Rose! Now it’s just a waiting game I sent my package off to Amarillo today and it should arrive on Monday

How yall doin? Im sure Mrs. Knowles is on cloud nine…Shamekia how much longer? Magnum things goin okay, you all healed up? All is well here. 14 more days when oldest son is out of county, they gave him 3 for 1 jail time so two months is all hes doing on that six month sentence, so far as long as he stays good lol. Otherwise, all is well…son that got released from TDCJ is doing good, being a good husband and dad and son…still praying for all of you and for those locked up. A girl Ive known since she was like 15, her son just hit Middleton…hes like 18 and got his probation revoked and got a 7 year sentence…just breaks my heart for her and him. Yall keep hangin in there! Hi everyone, I hope everything is going well with each of you. Rose, so glad to hear that everything is working out for your sons. Well I’m super excited because I go to pick up my boyfriend from Huntsville tomorrow. Not real sure on how the release process works though but I’ll be there early just in case. If anyone has any information that will make my wait a little easier I would greatly appreciate it.

      • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Shamekia, Congratulations on your good news. By this time tomorrow, this experience will be behind you. Bring him some clothes to put on, they will give him whatever fits, or sort of fits, in their grab bag and it won’t be pretty. Bring a book for yourself to read while you wait on him. Or a friend to go with you but that ride home sure will be worth the wait. Peace ~ Magnum

      • Rose says:

Ditto what Magnum said. My son came out in Khakies and a button down blue shirt, not bad actually looked like church clothes lol just a little baggy. They all head to the bathroom at the visitors center and change immediately lol so def take him some clothes. My son told me exactly what clothes he wanted, as well as a can of dip lol. Im so excited for you!! I still go back and watch the video every now and then of my sons release (my sister videoed it) and Im telling you it was one of the happiest days of our lives!! If youre like I was you wont sleep much tonight…but get as much rest as you can! Im so very happy for you both!!

      • Mrs. Knowles says:

Hey Shamekia that good he coming home yay…….

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Rose, All is good here, except for a broke down truck and crappy credit making it hard to get a new one. Well not even new, just new to me. I’m working on it. Glad to hear your son got 3 for 1 in county, y’all must be feeling like it’s going fast. And glad to hear your other son is keeping on the right track. Life is good and spring seems right around the corner so I guess we can’t complain. Peace ~ Magnum

      • Rose says:

Ugh hate car issues and credit issues, I know how fun that isn’t! Hopefully that works out for you asap. I don’t know about where you are, but here we have a few car lots that either in house finance with proof of residence and income…maybe you could try that? All is going decent here…I think once all the legal bs gets behind us Ill be on cloud nine lol. Glad you are good except for the truck…cant ever seem to be all is well all the way around all the time huh? lol. So loving the warmer weather!

      • Rose says:

Hey Magnum, one more thing I forgot…earlier today my son got a letter from a friend..I recognized the name and asked “that’s the guy that laced you up?” He looked at me and shook his head…my husband said what? Laced you up?? My son said yea mom shouldn’t even know this lingo then explained what it was. I just laughed, but remembered your Ma, you did the time too. Anyways, just made me laugh so thought Id share with you so you can shake your head too lol.

    • Jess says:

Hi Mrs Rose my name is jessica i was wondering what your sons sentence was (how many years) my husband got sentenced to 5 yrs and i feel like thats an eternity. Magnum already told me that he wont necessarily have to do the five years, and i see your son did almost a yr. Thank you in advanced and please keep us in your prayers…

      • Rose says:

Hi Jess. My son was sentenced to 2 years TDCJ and 6 months State Jail Division. Magnum is right, if your husband doesn’t get in any trouble in there he wont do the whole 5, hell come home and finish up on parole. I wouldn’t necessarily count on him making his first parole…first time they come up is after six months, second time the next six months. If they don’t make that second parole then they do not come up for review again for a year. What does his projected release date say? Id kinda focus on that date until you see what parole says. Like my son says 5 minutes in that place is too long…its a rough road for them and us. Just pray, keep the faith and stay positive. Its a roller coaster on the emotions for sure. Hang in there!!

    • Mrs. Knowles says:

Hey Rose im doing good and that good your son will be home soon.

  19. Cecilly says:

Ok, I found out my husband was moved to Holliday on 2/16. He is not eligible for visitation. Is it because he’s still going through the intake process? Are visits common at transfer units?

    • Rose says:

It could be he is still processing. Yes once visitation is approved you can visit…just keep watching the site! Hang in there!

      • Cecilly says:

Also, what is the projected release date? Does that mean if he doesn’t make parole that will the end of his sentence? I see max date, parole and projected release.

        • Rose says:

Projected Release Date (PRD) is when they expect to let him out as long as no issues. That’s when my son got out after making the second parole. Max is the longest they can keep him. I don’t know of very many who make parole the first time around, so I would just kinda keep my eye focused on that PRD.

          • Cel says:

My husband was transferred to TDC 2/18 after being sentenced to 4 years on 1/28. Unfortunately they told me he’s ineligible for visit and calls for up to 90 days? So I guess I shouldn’t hold me breath either for his first review date?

          • Rose says:

Cel, after my experience I wouldn’t hold my breath for the first parole review period. Does the site show a projected release date yet? That’s what I would kinda focus on. Im sorry I know this is hard, just hang in there. Prayers that things go smoothly and as easy as possible.

          • Cel says:

Thank u Rose, I appreciate the support. His sentence came unexpected because he was already on probation and was revoked for not complying a class he missed while working. However I’m wondering if his history is what is keeping him from his assigned level and maybe that’s why he is unable to receive visits?? It’s been 3 weeks does it normally take that long for eligibility or longer?? Thank u again.

          • Cecilly says:

My husband cannot receive visitors yet either and he has no criminal history. It’s been 15 days since he was moved. Should he be able to write me at least?

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Cecilly, he can write you as soon as he has some supplies which he needs some commissary funds to buy stamps, envelopes, and all that. Then he can write. 15 days is not very long. I think you will be hearing from him soon. Hang in there. Peace ~ Magnum

          • Rose says:

Hi yall…processing can take any where from 2 weeks to 45 days…no visits during that time. They can write as long as they have money on their books to buy paper, pencils, stamps, envelopes…processing was the hardest part for me. No real contact and not hearing his voice or seeing his face. For us it took pretty much the whole 45 days and it sucked. Hang in there…pray…that’s all I could do and that’s really all there is. Im so sorry, I know this is hard, frustrating and makes you nervous. Its gonna pass. Big hugs and prayers for you both!

          • Cel says:

Yes it is the hardest part for me plus it doesn’t help that his family is writing to him trying to get him to put them on the visitation list so they can go see him and take away my visits by getting there first. It’s so frustrating plus I’m sure he’s stressed out as it is. No calls for me either although I’ve registered the house phone already plus I write everyday but still have not received any mail. How about u Cecilly? Any mail from him yet?? Mine was transferred 02/18. Rose thank u so much for your support. This really helps me out my mind at ease. Plus I heard that the name address and birthday have to be correct in order to get a visit with him? I’m hoping that helps set his family back since they’re the reason he’s in there anyway. Contact visits are 90 from initial intake?? He was sentenced to 4 yrs so I’m not holding my breath on the first eligibility date buy will continue with the support letters from his employer and our little league football organization. Any idea how they classify their G1-5 levels anybody??

          • Rose says:

I believe you are right on the contact visits…contact visits are for immediate family only, parents, siblings and spouses and children. From my experience if the info isn’t perfectly matching the visitors id then they update it that first visit. Im sorry you have competition on visits, that really sucks. My daughterinlaw and I swapped out and then my kids and hubby took turns going with me. Hopefully something like that will work out for you. I really don’t know about the G1-5 level stuff, Im sorry…and my son just left earlier today to go home so hes not handy for me to ask lol. We sent letters when eligibility started, I didn’t know about packets at that time, so we just did our letters of support and sent some family pictures in…trying to make it evident that he was remorseful, and show that he had lots of support. Hang in there, Im gonna be praying that visits go good and theres not any craziness for you! Hang in there!!

          • Cel says:

Hey thank u so much Rose so update I finally got a letter..yay!! He actually sent me 3 in one envelope and said he won’t get commissary until two 2wks so u guess that’s a good thing. So I take it he can make phone calls already hopefully he’ll be eligible for visits soon..

          • Cecilly says:

I got a letter Friday 3/4, and a follow up longer letter 3/7. When he got to transfer it was his dorms day for commissary but he didn’t have access to any money yet. By the time he filled out an indigent form his dorm was up again. They go every two weeks so he had to wait. He is in parole review right now, first one. It’s not even three months since his sentence. I’m hoping things go like Rose and the process goes quickly. Based on her son’s timeline it seemed to go fast and my husband only got a 2 year sentence. My husband says they can’t make phone calls until they are on the other side of intake at their committed facility.

          • Cel says:

That’s good Cecilly. I saw one letter was dated 3/1 but u didn’t get it until today. I’m really hoping the intake process speeds up so I can see him by Easter weekend :( He asked me to send him pics of me in lingerie but I’m too worried the guard’s will take them or put me on a no visitors list. Plus I’m not sure u want my pics there with strangers glancing views smh.. Now I feel better knowing I got at least a letter. I do have a question if anyone really knows the intake process and why it takes so long?? Oh btw Rose he only put one sister and his mom including me on the list so looks like he listened to my letter about the other sister’s trying to take my visits. Yay!

          • Rose says:

yay for letters!!! Processing takes a while because while we are only thinking of our one loved ones, staff there are processing a lot of people. Theres a lot to the processing, testing, classifying, it just takes time. Hang in there! You can send pics…just no total booty or boob shots lol. My daughterinlaw sent pics…my son kept them to himself, didn’t want anyone seeing them but him, I’m sure your love will do the same. My daughterinlaw also sprayed her letters with perfume. Hang in there!! I know you are excited and relieved and encouraged with getting letters! I’m glad the visitor list is short and sweet lol.

          • Cel says:

Help!! My husband for transferred to Willacy County this morning after being told he was going to Garza East. He was originally at Garza West and is under a private state jail. I want to see if the same TDC rules apply since it’s private and does anybody know how I can locate the IPO for this unit. Also how long is the waiting time frame for me to be able to talk to him like for him to be able to call me? Plz help. Idk much about private facility especially since its a state jail. I’m wondering if this means he won’t make parole or he will. Sorry I’m so lost.

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Cel, yes same rules apply. What happens is a Statw Jail will house some TDC inmates due to lack of TDC space but they are just housed there, they still have the TDC sentence. And a private facility follows the same rules as the rest. In my experience I was at a private facility and it was not too bad. It was better than Garza West for sure. It will just take a short while for him to be able to call but you can write right away. Don’t worry, people get moved around for not much reason. Hang in there and peace ~ Magnum

  20. Niecey says:

So my boyfriend was sentenced 2years in one county and 2 years in another. The time is concurrent and he had over a year of back time from county jail. They finally came & ot him from county jail on 02/19. When will I know what unit he is in? I have so many other questions like?
-Can I set up a vonage account since my cell phone is not in my name?
-Who should all write the supporting letters to the parole office?
-When can I see him? And since I am only his girlfriend, will I be able to visit him?
I called the parole office to find out what his status is and they started the process a week after his sentence.
    -Is that good?
-How long is the process to figure out if he will be able to parole out?

    • Rose says:

Hi there…a year of back time is good and will count. Once he is in his unit you will be able to find what office of the parole board he is under then you can write letters…family, friends, pastors, ex employers, anyone that would speak to his being sorry and wanting a better life and his desire to have a better life, any or all of those can write letters of support. The letters, I was told need to be short and to the point, hes sorry, he wants to be a better man, has a support system, family who will help him, home to go to, job possibilities, that sort of thing. I will find the info for setting up your cell so that you can receive calls. You should be able to check the tdcj web site to find out where he is right now, then just kinda watch it for when they move him. His money on his books and jpay letters will follow where ever they send him. Heres how our timeline of stuff went…parole eligibility is when he was eligible to be reviewed for parole. Projected release date is when they assume they are going to release him, as long as there are no problems, like he stays out of trouble and doesn’t get any cases against him in there. Maximum Sentence date is the longest they will keep him. My son signed for two years and did almost a year. He was released on his projected release. Denied parole the first time and made it the second time. Ill past a time line of his stuff into this message so you can see…it varies of course depending on the person, the charges and the way things go inside.

      • Cel says:

Do u know exactly where we’re supposed to write the letters or to whom? If not, is there a way of finding out that info? I would like to do that as well.

        • Rose says:

You have to find out what board he is under, I believe that is on the tdcj website, but if not you might just call the unit and ask. Middleton is where they go to be processed and then are assigned to a unit so you might call them.

          • Cel says:

Thank u Rose. So he’s at Garza West. Does that mean he won’t stay there if he was sentenced to 4 yrs? He will be transferred to another facility if parole is approved??

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Cel, like Rose told you, Garza West is a transfer unit, but I know a couple guys who spent most of their bid there. There really are not hard and fast rules about any of it, so it is more wait and see if he gets moved. The thing to get your head around when someone you are associated with is in TDC is that you just don’t know. For no apparent reason, they can get moved or not. Or their whole unit might go on lockdown for no fault of their’s, etc. So you just need to keep an open mind and roll with the punches. You will get more relaxed about it all as time goes on. Meanwhile, hang in there and keep asking questions. Peace ~ Magnum

          • Rose says:

Im not familiar with Garza…You really never know how they pick/choose the moving around of people. I honestly cant tell you if he will stay there or move again. My son stayed at Rudd until the transfer process began for him to be released. Garza West is listed as a transfer facility so theres no telling really…Rudd is also a transfer facility but my son stayed there. Heres the info for what parole board Garza is under…

          • Cel says:

Sorry I meant Angel not Angle

        • Cel says:

Omg thank u so much Rose, God Bless you. Idk where to start looking. Should I start sending support letters to that IPO or should I wait until the parole date approaches to ensure that the IPO doesn’t change if he does end up being transferred to another facility?

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Cel I would not start sending support letters to anyone yet at all. You need to prepare a packet when its time and send it, with letters from a few folks and all but sending them now won’t help and they probably won’t even take them into account if he isn’t in review yet. Peace ~ Magnum

          • Cel says:

Thank u so much Rose you are an angle. I now have an idea of what to write and pray everything goes well for him. I won’t get my hopes up but I’m praying for an approval at least on the 2nd review GOD willing.. For now staying busy. I hope once we get our visits I’ll feel at ease once again. Right now it’s hard trying to explain to our kids where’s Daddy.. But thank U again.. Btw I already received a letter from him today saying that commissary is on a rotation so hopefully he’ll be able to write back more often.

        • Texas Magnum says:

Cel, Rose is right on, the projected release date is a pretty good date to focus on. Just being eligible for parole review doesn’t mean much. Peace ~ Magnum

          • Cel says:

Texas Magnum thank u so much for the info. However it says in yellow he’s under review but the date is 07-08-16 so idk if he’ll be relocated or he’ll stay there so I can send a packet to the IPO. Sorry for all the questions but what exactly do I put in these parole packets?

          • Rose says:

7-8-16 is the date he is eligible for parole. They wont vote until I believe 45 days before that date, if I remember correctly. So Id start getting things together to send in at the end of this month or first part of next month. As I said, I didn’t know about a packet so I just gathered letters from friends, co-workers, former bosses, family…showing support, possibility of job once released, telling of his remorse and goals along with some pictures of him with his son, wife, siblings and parents. I know the letters shouldn’t be real long so just kinda short, sweet and to the point. Magnum can probably tell you more about the packet. I’m sorry I cant remember what his sentence is or what his PRD is…if this is his first review I know your hopes are high but its a very real possibility that he wont make this first parole. Not trying to be a downer but I remember being so devastated the first review and being denied…I felt utterly crushed. Then the more I read it seemed that making the first parole was rare. I wish I had just focused on that PRD and not gotten so excited over parole review. Hang in there! Praying for you!

          • Cel says:

Rose, u are a life saver. All this is so helpful because I didn’t know where to start or where to send anything. I can’t thank U enough. It sucks that I can’t read ur reply right away. However thank U for the prayers I appreciate it. Its so hard but I’m sure it’ll all be worth it in the end. The PRD date is set for 11-16-17 unfortunately but it makes sense cuz he got a 4 year sentence. I do have one question, if the first parole review date is denied. How long does it take to have another review or would that have to be the PRD date? Its been 17 days with no contact so I guess I’ll wait the 45 days for our first visit or call..hopefully. This is great because I can’t ask fb these kind of questions without rude comments. Texas Magnum anything in specific I should know about the letters? Handwritten, letterheads or a simple one pg handwritten and finally to whom would it be addressed to? Thank you for telling me because I wouldve hired a Lawyer.

          • Rose says:

Hey youre more than welcome. I’m just trying to pay it forward…this little education I wish I had never gotten lol needs to benefit others if possible! You can email me if youd rather, rosemt37@aol.com. They come up first time at six months, if denied they are reviewed again in six months. If denied that second time then its yearly reviews. Some of our letters were hand written and some were typed. I typed mine just so it looked more professional with a date then parole board address/RE John Doe TDCJ Number then To Whom it May Concern. First paragraph was who I am, related how, my job, how long I had my job and how long Ive lived in my house…second paragraph was on him and his remorse. Third paragraph was on plans for future and support system. Then closed out by thanking them for taking the time to read my letter and my phone number for them to feel free to call if they had any questions or concerns. Signed Sincerely, Jane Doe with address and phone number. I know Nov 2017 feels like a life time away…but when you get there you will be utterly amazed at how fast it actually went by. Keep busy, work, kids, life, read…keep your mind busy. Holler any time, here or email! Hang in there!!

          • Cel says:

Hey Rose, I wanted to know if his my husbands first parole gets denied do I need to resend new letters or do they hold on to the first set?

          • Rose says:

We sent new letters at second review. I’m sure it all stays in their file but I can be pretty crazy lol.

          • Cel says:

Thank you again Rose, this helps so I can prepare for the second round of parole.. Anything will help so I appreciate the support :)

    • Rose says:

Before you can receive calls from a TDCJ offender, you must first register your telephone number:
      •Internet: texasprisonphone.com
Note: You will need the offender’s TDCJ ID Number to register to receive phone calls from him or her. If you do not know their number you can find it through the online offender search at http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/offender_information/index.html or by phone at (936) 295-6371 or (800) 535-0283. The phones are answered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday.
      •Telephone: (866) 806-7804

Telephone calls can be placed in the following manner:
•Collect calls – charges are accepted when the offender calls.
•Friends and Family Prepaid – the telephone number owner establishes an account in which to deposit money to pay for the offender’s calls.
•Offender Telephone Prepaid Debit Account – the offender or family can deposit money into the offender’s account.

The following rules apply to the system:
      •Phones are available from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., unless conditions dictate a change.
•Calls are limited to 20 minutes.
•You will hear a warning message one minute before being disconnected.
•Offenders have unlimited minutes per month.
•All calls, except to the Attorney of Record, are subject to monitoring and recording.
•Calls may only be made to home land line telephone numbers and post-paid cell phones. No calls are allowed to internet services, 800 numbers, businesses, pay phones, or international numbers.
•To receive calls, the name on the registrant’s driver’s license or state identification card must be reflected on their telephone listing or bill.
•To register you will be required to confirm that you: ◦Are the registered owner of the telephone number.
◦Agree to allow the offender to call the phone number.
◦Are at least 18 years old.
◦Will not forward calls or make 3-way calls received from the offender.

      • Cel says:

My husband said he tried calling the phone but it doesn’t work. I’m wondering if there’s a block or what happened. I registered the phone through the prison phone and called them. They said I’ve been approved just waiting on his calls. But could it be my carrier puts blocks on collect calls. Or is there a way that I prepay the calls instead of him calling collect?? Also of phone calls are approved for him does that mean hopefully visitation will be available soon?? Sorry just trying to get an insight of a timeline.

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Cel, yah some folks have a phone service that won’t allow collect calls. I don’t know of a way for it to be prepaid. I think your best bet is to check with your phone service and see if you can change your setup to allow collect calls. Hope you get that straightened out. Peace ~ Magnum

          • Cel says:

Thank you Magnum. This really sucks..the waiting game. I already registered the phone and he wrote saying he couldn’t get through then I find out that the his phone privileges are like his visits hes ineligible. Its almost 30 days I guess Ill have to wait the 45-90 days which makes me even more sad.

          • Texas Magnum says:

Yeah Cel, prison just plain sucks, it’s true. Soon you will get through this first part and start to get a little normal feeling. I learned that during all this stuff, the time goes by, and sooner or later you are looking at light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there. Peace to you and him ~ Magnum

          • Rose says:

Oh But when you get that first phone call…you will feel such a joy and relief hearing his voice…hang in there…I know its hard, oh so hard but God has a purpose and a plan and ALL things work together for the good. Somehow, someway good does come out of this…keep the faith! Praying for you all!!

    • Rose says:

He will turn in a list of visitors, as long as you are on that list you will be able to see him. Hang in there!

  21. ivett3191 says:

After they hav been interviewed by parole, how long after until we get a call from parole? anf how long after until they give answer, they said sinc shortway is soon it shouldn’t take long

  22. zahaira ruiz says:

I’ve been trying to locate my brother last I heard of him was 6 years ago I heard he was locked up in jail in texas but I don’t know where its been hard for me to locate him is there anything you guys can do to help me.

    • Jim Halberson says:

As far as jail goes, look at the county website. The TDC webpage is for offenders that are currently serving or have been released.

  23. ivett says:

Will they need personal information about people living in hous

    • Rose says:

I was told by many others that it was like a minute long call and you do all the talking…but the guy that called me was really nice, sounded old lol…we actually had a conversation…he asked about home life, work situation, did he have kids, how old…just basic info. I got the call when he was being reviewed the first time. The second time I didn’t get a call until he was approved and the local parole office called…I had to get a land line for the ankle monitor (which came off yesterday yay!) and they made a home visit to verify address.

  24. ivett says:

When parole calls on phone what do they ask?

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Ivett, Generally speaking they will want to know about the place the inmate has to come home to, if he has a place to live, if the people living there are not in law trouble somehow themselves, like also on parole, and all that. Hope that helps. Peace ~ Magnum

  25. ana2313 says:

My boyfriend has been in Middleton since 02/01. I have not heard from him. I’ve sent him a couple messages through jpay. I know now from this blog that it will take him around 45 days to call. Does anyone know when he will be eligible for visits? He was sentenced to 2 years and 4 years tdc. But the judge ordered for those to run concurrently.. Does this mean he will have to serve the whole 2 years in state? Because in the system he is eligible for parole 03/2016. So confused as to what is going on. Or if I need to do anything.

    • Rose says:

Waiting and wondering is the best part (read sarcasm here lol). Visits are after processing as well and that is anywhere from 2 weeks to 45 days. From what we saw while my son was in there…those with longer sentences than 2 years seemed to move thru faster. We were told a two year sentence, eligible for parole after six months…in our inexperienced minds we just knew hed make his first parole and be out in six months. That didn’t happen…but he did make his second parole doing 10 months of his two year sentence. From what Ive seen making that first parole doesn’t happen often…but it can and does vary, depending on the charges…aggravated charges tend to do half of their sentence…and it depends on how they do in there, staying out of trouble, any classes they get told to take need to be taken and completed…that kind of stuff. Mail also is slow for them, especially at Middleton…as long as he has money on his books to be able to buy paper, pencils, stamps, envelopes and hygiene and maybe even food he will feel encouraged and it will help. My son said going to the store for the first time at Middleton he felt like a kid at Christmas. While he will get your jpay letters within about 48 hours, except on weekends, he has to write regular mail and then it just depends, I think we ran almost a week from the time my son wrote until I actually got the letter. Middleton is a transfer unit, but does have people who stay there, not sure really how this is based other than categorized by sentence and charges. My son got his first visit with us and by the next weekend was moved to Rudd unit…which was really awesome because all their visits are contact visits! Its all a waiting game and can be very nerve wracking and most def is a roller coaster of emotions. Just hang in there and try to always be as encouraging as possible to him. Are one of his sentences a state jail sentence? State jail is pretty much day for day so if so then there def will not be a parole until that part is over. Praying all goes well for him and you!

      • Ana2313 says:

Thank you! I appreciate your help! Yes he got 2 years state and 4 years tdc. But I was confused because in the court papers the judge wrote for those to run concurrently at the tdc facility. And he had 101 days of back time, maybe that’s why his parole eligibility was so soon. So I was getting my hopes that he might be out mid this year because they lawyer said he has to do 1/4 of his time the he can see parole. Yes it’s been a rough time so far, especially not being able to hear from him. How much money should I be putting every week. Since I don’t have any communication I’m not sure if he has enough money. Any suggestions

        • Rose says:

Hey there…it is confusing and crazy…state jail sentences I believe are 80-85% of their time before eligible for release. My sons release from state jail was July 10…but that didn’t happen since he had the 2 years tdc…had to wait for parole review/approval. Having back time is good…that counts too…Does it give you a projected release date yet? That’s actually pretty close to the date my son was released after parole approval. On the money…its hard to guess…I would send 30 a week…there were times that Id send more or see if his friends and other family would add, like when he needed to see the doc (100.00 a year paid out of commissary at first visit). I know my son didn’t go to meals in the chow hall often so he tried to keep a supply of ramen noodles, chips, tuna, things like that to eat at his bunk. And coffee…this kid never drank coffee before but in there lived on black coffee lol and still drinks it out here now. Parole is its on entity and does what it wants in regards to approval/denials…we had it stuck in our heads that just because he was eligible for parole that meant hed be out in six months…and were devastated to find he was denied. Sorry for the long rambling story lol. Its hard out here to pay for phone time and pay for commissary, I just considered it a necessary evil and did it because I knew it helped him stay encouraged.

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Ana, I had the same experience with a lawyer setting up false expectations. What I learned is the lawyers may know the law and arrange your deal etc. but they do not know about how TDC actually works. They tell folks as if it’s practically a written rule that they will see parole after a certain time or get out in in a certain time and it’s flat not true. Nobody knows how long all the stuff, required classes and that, will take as it depends on availability and other things. I had to be transferred to a new unit to do my classes. I also had a concurrent case and I did complete my state jail time. As far as I know, unless they have changed it, state jail is still day for day but Rose says 80-85% so maybe they have lightened that up now. Rose gave you a pretty good guideline on money. I think even less than that is OK. There is really no need to be the guy who has too much money in commissary. And, folks figure out things to do for barter. Like if a guy can draw he can barter envelopes and paper he draws on for ramen noodles and tuna. Hang in there, and peace to you ~ Magnum

          • anabel2313 says:

Thank you for the information. What is the projected release day? He has a date set for 07/2017. Once he is eligible for visits, will they be contact visits in Middleton? I hope that after the 45 days are over he should be able to get visits.

          • Rose says:

I cant remember the length of time until there are contact visits…at first they are thru glass on a phone…I didn’t keep up with when contact visits were approved because my son was moved to a unit where all visits were contact.

          • Texas Magnum says:

Just to note – It does depend too on the inmate’s charges and behavior if they have contact visits or not.

          • ana2313 says:

I finally received some letters. I actually received 4 yesterday. dating from 2/3-2/11. I guess they just keep them for a while before sending them. it was good to hear from him, at least it gave some kind of peace of mind. He did however tell me he had a hold somewhere and was informed that after he does his tdc time he will be transferred somewhere else, anyone know were i can find out what kind of hold he has. Im thinking its the state time, since that one is day by day (2 years). in one of the letters he mentioned people suggesting he should look into getting a parole lawyer. Is this something we should look into?

          • Rose says:

Yay for letters!! If they have a hold it may have something to do with a warrant in a different county. I found out when I picked my son up that this happens a lot and many times if you know early you can contact that county and let them know he is incarcerated in TDCJ and they might lift the warrant as time served. You need to find out what the hold is and where. I felt so bad for those released on parole just to get in a van and taken to jail. Ugh! I really don’t know much about parole lawyers other than hearing it’s expensive.

      • Cmartinez says:

My husband was sentenced to two years TDC. How do I find out when and where he will be moved to? He was sentenced 01/08 and had been in county since then.

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Cecilly, There is no real way to know when he will catch chain. It is very random. In my case, I asked one of my cellmates to call my mother and let her know when they picked me up, and gave him the funds to do that. Maybe your husband can work out something like that for you. Once he is picked up he will first go to intake when it will take anywhere from a couple weeks to up to over a month or so to get moved to his unit. But, once you find out he has caught chain, you can check using the form at this page: https://offender.tdcj.texas.gov/OffenderSearch/index.jsp. It will take several days or more from when he is picked up to show up in that form, but don’t worry, he is OK. He will show up. This is one of the harder parts for the family outside, and we get lots of questions about it on this site. Once you do located him you can write to him write away and TDC will get the letter to him. You can also send him some funds for his commissary right away so he can get basic supplies including stamps and paper to write to you. You will see he has been given a TDC number, make sure you include that number on his letters and also on money if you send him funds. Good luck to you and your husband and stay in touch if you have more questions. Peace ~ Magnum

      • Shamekia says:

Hi Rose just wanted to share this with y’all. Today is the day we lay my dad to rest and I guess you can say he gave me a gift. Because I found out that my boyfriend is coming home in 3 weeks yep, we got a release date 3/4. My man is coming home and I can finally see the light shining so bright at this end of this tunnel.

  27. May says:

Hi. I’m new here. My husband just made it to Middleton Unit for diagnostics and I have a question. Is there any way for me to see who he placed on his visitation list online. I need to know what address he listed for me since I’m not at the house we were working on when he went in. My concern is that if I go to see him and the address on my DL is different than the one he put me on his visitation list for, TDC won’t let me see him. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    • Rose says:

There is no way to look online. I know it takes a while before he gets to have visits…with us when we went the first visit they updated the list to match our driver license. I would just call Middleton and tell them the situation, they might update on phone or just do it at your first visit.

      • Mrs. Knowles says:

Hey Rose? well still no release date for me yet and that’s good your son coming home on 17th. i hope and pray that i will get a release date sometime this week.

      • May says:

Thank you Rose for your help. Does is take about 2 weeks for them to complete intake?

        • Rose says:

It took my son almost 45 days, the longest 45 days of our lives. Ugh. They say anywhere from two weeks to 45 days. But you can write immediately and put money on his books so he can get hygiene and writing stuff. Somewhere below is a timeline of my sons time if you wanna see

Thank you for the info. Will he get the jpay messages I leave him through email at Middleton, or is that just for the units? I just have so many questions. Thank you for being so nice to answer my questions.

          • ana2313 says:

i just found this site and your information is very helpful. my boyfriend just arrived in middleton on tuesday 02/02 and i havent heard from him yet.

        • Rose says:

Heres how our timeline of stuff went…parole eligibility is when he was eligible to be reviewed for parole. Projected release date is when they assume they are going to release him, as long as there are no problems, like he stays out of trouble and doesn’t get any cases against him in there. Maximum Sentence date is the longest they will keep him. My son signed for two years and did almost a year. He was released on his projected release. Denied parole the first time and made it the second time. Ill past a time line of his stuff into this message so you can see…it varies of course depending on the person, the charges and the way things go inside.

        • Rose says:

Hi May, I just saw your message…his jpays will follow him if he is transferred…it just may take a bit as they will print them and send them on the next “chain” to that unit. But once he is at his new unit jpay automatically updates to where he is and they will go straight to him…is this what you mean? Its been a long day lol and my brain isn’t wanting to function any more lol. Hang in there…its hard and frustrating but it does pass and you do get thru it! Prayers!!

          • Rose says:

and I just re-read your message lol…yes he will get them within about 48 hours there at Middleton too…

  28. ivett says:

Classes? What classes do you mean, than you for your help.

    • Baby Girl 2016 says:

I spray perfume on a friends letters that is locked up in prison and they don’t send it back or anything cause I get letters back from him telling me thank you

  29. ivett says:

He said to get people to write letters for parole board to see that he can hav a job, his family needs him, thibgs like that how should i write it? And which people would be helpful to write a letter?

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Ivett, they are looking for confirmation that when he gets out he has a decent support system around him. They want to hear where he will live – who else lives there? Are they folks that are doing well? Is it a stable living place? Like if you have lived in your place a long time, that is good to mention, it shows stability. They want to know if he has a solid job lined up and if so, where? And if he doesn’t, are there some folks willing to help him look for work or give him a good reference to his character and that sort of thing. Or if you have a solid job that is helpful information, so they know you are making your bills and he is not going to be faced with considering doing something drastic to make money. If you guys go to church its good to mention that, and if you do and your minister or priest would write a letter about him that is really good too. If he has family in the area its good for them to know he has you, and his parents and siblings, grandparents, all that. All that shows support. (Unless those folks have a record of trouble themselves in which case maybe you shouldn’t mention that as much) You can send a photo of your home or of your family if you want, to reinforce what you are telling them. Really all this stuff is just “helpful” but their main decisions will come down to HIS behavior while incarcerated, if he has finished his classes and all that. But if he has a good support system outside that helps. Peace ~ Magnum

      • Rose says:

Classes..like if they had him take Changes or any other kind of class..sometimes completion of classes is mandatory before parole. When we wrote letters to the Board we didn’t know what we were doing…but I did learn that short and sweet is best…direct to the point, hes remorseful, has a good support group, stable home life, family waiting on him who is anxious to get home to…job possibilities…that kind of thing.

  30. ivett says:

Do yall know what short time or to do a turnaround is?

    • Rose says:

Not sure about the turnaround…but I know when they are close to going home they are called short timers…or if going home by PRD that is their short way

    • Ms. Knowles says:

FI-3R (02/2016)- Transfer to a TDCJ rehabilitation program, such as Changes/Lifeskills, and release to parole on or after completion and not earlier than three months from the specified date of 02/2016. What do this mean he finish the class early on January 15, 2016.

      • Rose says:

From my experience this means he should be released in Feb. You should call the release number (I called daily until I got a release date) and find out when his release is. Its almost home time!

        • Ms. Knowles says:

Thank you Rose. i hope so…

          • Mrs.Knowles says:

Today I call them and they said he wait on his parole certificate and it take up to 30 to 69 days

          • Texas Magnum says:

He’s a short timer Mrs Knowles. Just keep focusing on that. It’s a countdown game now. Peace to y’all ~ Magnum

          • Mrs.Knowles says:

            Thank you Magnum

          • Rose says:

I was persistent and anxious, as Im sure you are. I called that release number daily (lol sometimes twice daily morning and right before 5). Just hang in there, its almost over!!

          • Ms. Knowles says:

Ms. Rose ……FI-1 (FURTHER INVESTIGATION 1)- Release offender on parole supervision as soon as eligible. I just want to thank y’all so much am so ready for my husband to come home.

        • Rose says:

Ms. Knowles…yay! I know every little thing just lifts your spirits and makes home time feel that much closer! Its February…praying you have a release date soon and can “officially” count them days down!!

          • Ms. Knowles says:

Am so happy… When i seen that tears of joy start round down my face. I miss my husband. Yes its count down now. I call them everyday to see if they prints his certificate.

          • Ms. Knowles says:

Guess what i call them today and they told me his certificate was print today at 8am and they told me to call back Monday for a release date. God is so good. God never ends anything on a negative; God always ends on a positive.

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Ms. Knowles, congratulations, glad to hear your good news. Things are looking up indeed. Peace ~ Magnum

          • Ms. Knowles says:

Hey Texas Magnum, thank you and yes everything going good.

          • Rose says:

YAY!!!!! Doin the happy happy joy joy dance with you!!! Thank you Jesus…now bless and keep safe and on a straight path never to walk this road again!!

          • Anonymous says:

Thank you Rose i will keep y’all update when he get a release date and how your son doing. i will keep on praying for all of us. I know that when I pray, something wonderful happens. Not just to the person or persons for whom I’m praying, but also something wonderful happens to me. I’m grateful that I’m heard.

          • Rose says:

Thank you! God is good and I’m very thankful for Him carrying us thru these times. Please do keep us posted! Still praying for you all!

    • Rose says:

My son said turnaround is when someone goes for a short time, basically goes, gets his number, does a little time and gets out.

  31. ivett says:

I caled earlier todau anf she said they will be eligible for calls, visits, anf to send out letter after 30-45days, the calls anf visits i understand but is it really true that i wont be able to get a letter from him until after 30-45days? Can i spray perfume on letters or will they get sent back

    • Rose says:

We got letters all the way thru, no waiting time…as long as he had money to purchase writing materials and stamps he could write whenever so Im not familiar with being told no he cant write for x amount of days. My daughter in law sprayed perfume on all her letters to my son and there were no problems.

  32. ivett says:

Does anybody know about the holliday facility? How long does it usually take for a person call, use ccomminsary, o visiys

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Ivett, it usually take a couple days to get showing up in the system. Once you send them some funds they can get on the next chance for commissary. That is a huge help. Visit depends more on when they get through their initial processing. As far as a call, that is something I don’t have experience with. I chose not to do phone calls while incarcerated. Just wrote letters and the occasional visit.

  33. ivett says:

Theres no yellow are that say parole. Also were you able to email him? If so dis it take long for them to get the email or it took just as long as with mailing a letter?

    • Rose says:

Okay just give it time…its like one day there was no yellow with parole then the next day it just appeared. I did use JPAY to send my letters and he got them within 24-48 hours…he had to write back regular mail, but at least he got mail faster that way.

  34. ivett says:

So if they hav a projected releas date does that mean they have seen parole board already? When i checked for his name it said he doesnt hav visitation right now does that include video chat? Like i wont be able to do a video chat with him until they say he can have visitation or is that different? Thank you so much for answering these questions i have had

    • Rose says:

When you check his name towards the bottom is there a yellow area that says parole? You can click that and it will tell you whether in review, approved, not approved or not in review. I have no experience with video chat…that was not available anywhere my son was and Im not real sure there is video chat in TDCJ…you can call to verify that tho at whatever unit. Im glad I can help ya out although I do wish I hadn’t been thru this to know lol. Hang in there!

    • Cecilly says:

I don’t think Texas prisons have video chat capabilities. Other states allow individuals to write emails back to loved ones, but not in Texas. It took about 1 day after husband’s name was in the system for the yellow parole box to appear.

  35. Rose says:

Just checking in…Magnum hows it goin? SheMakia any news yet? All is well out here with parole and son number two. Hes fixing to transfer his parole to go be with his wife and child, they’ve been making the drive here every weekend and that’s getting rough. My other son got in some trouble back in June and we go to court tomorrow…he got a deal for six months county jail so here we go…last year on January 15 my youngest son went in and now this year on the same date my oldest son…lordy! 6 months county is way better than 2 years probation and ending up in state jail for two years so I aint griping…but I am pretty much over all this bs and am hoping to God lessons get learned and life can be somewhat normal after this lol. Hope everyone is doing well. Yall keep hanging in there! Praying for all of you and all those inside still!

    • Shamekia says:

Hi Rose, we still have no release date yet. I went to see my boyfriend today and all he’s saying is be patient. He says that when he completes CHANGES on February 4th they will email Huntsville the same day so I’m hoping that the release process will go smoothly and He’s home before the end of February. I will definitely be praying for you and your family. Glad to hear that your son is adjusting well. As for your other son you’re right 6 months county is better than 2 years probation or state jail. I’ll definitely be praying for your strength. I’ll keep you posted on my situation also.

      • Rose says:

Patience is all there is during this huh? No choice lol. Praying for yall and appreciate your prayers as well! Thanks for keeping me posted! Just catch myself wondering about those that I pray for and hoping all goes easy and all this ends soon!

      • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Shamekia, Rose is right. Be patient. There is nothing to do but wait, and be patient, and be supportive. He’s on the home stretch, hang in there and peace to you and your boyfriend ~ Magnum

    • Texas Magnum says:

Damn Rose just wrote a long response and it all got deleted. Well I don’t have time to rewrite it all over again but things are good, and busy. Sorry to hear about your other son. I think it it will go by real fast, at least on your part, considering what you already went through. It’s like you told Shemakia, patience is what this takes. And a very accepting attitude that things will work out, just be calm, and supportive, and hang in there. You know that by now, and your advise to others is always right on. Seems like your other son is doing great, good for him, I am glad to hear it. It sure is nice of you to hang out with us on here and continue to help the folks with questions. It’s real hard to get answers and I know that a lot of these people like hearing your perspective since you have been in their same shoes. I guess in reading your note your son is probably now at county – so you are in those shoes again but this time you know the ropes. Peace to you and your family Rose. Hang in there.

      • Rose says:

Hey Magnum..glad all is well with you and with you being in Texas and Texas being oil in most circumstances busy is good at this time lol. Hanging in there is all I know to do in all things! Some day, some how, it all gets okay! Sorry your long response got deleted, hate when that happens! Hope you have a good week!

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Rose, thinking about you and your oldest son. Is he settled in? Doing OK? I assume he is somewhere close for you to get to for a visit. You probably noticed I got some problems with the inmate locator. TDC changed the way I can pull things in. Dealing with that now. I hope I can get things right soon since we get so many questions about folks here. Meanwhile I sure do appreciate you continuing to help people with information when you can.

          • Rose says:

Hey there! Yea my son is doing okay…we are almost two weeks in and hes ready to come home lol. This is a different circumstance/situation then with my youngest son so I haven’t been freaked out…maybe because its county and not prison…maybe because this boy HAS to get it together and Im praying this does it, who knows…but hes doing okay and I see him weekly. Oldest son should be off monitor this week and is putting in for a transfer so he can go be with his wife and baby…hell be about 5 hours away, but after doing a prison sentence and surviving lol I think I can handle a move in the free world just fine. Life is just moving forward, day by day just praying that things click, lives get changed and “normalcy” (whatever that is lol) returns! Your page has been my morning and in between routine for a long time now so its habit to just keep checking in…besides I believe we go thru things and learn things so we can help the next person, kinda pay it forward…you and this site were such a help to me the least I can do is return the help!

  36. ivett says:

When you find the person on here theres three different dates maximum sentence date, projected release, parole elegibility what do they mean? Hes been in there since november just got transfered this monday, he sgned for 2yrs but before going in on november he had already served 7months, his dates say maximum sentence 5/2/17, projected release 4/3/16, anf parole eligibility 7/26/15 what do they all mean?

    • Rose says:

Hi there…parole eligibility is when he was eligible to be reviewed for parole. 37. ivett says:

When he calls would that be when i set up a phone accpun so i can talk to him, or do i hav to put money on a phone account for him to even be able to try to cal if so how do i do that

    • Rose says:

I know that once he shows up in the system you can instantly put money on his books and he will be able to go to store. I think if I remember right it took 30-45 days before I was able to purchase online for my son. Below are the steps for registering your phone for calls.
      Offender Telephone System

The Offender Telephone System (OTS) allows eligible offenders to make paid telephone calls to friends and family, in accordance with the TDCJ Disciplinary Rules and Procedures for Offenders.

      Information or registration:

  38. ivett says:

If they were taken from galveston county to tdc (thats what he kept calling it) would i be able to find out where he went on here?

    • Rose says:

Yes…it takes a few days from the time of transfer for them to show up online but you should be able to enter his name and find him…youll know where he is and what his tdc number is so you can write and put money on his books.

  39. Veronica says:

My husband got 180 days in state jail on his release date says April 7 2016 . he’s going to school for GED & alcohol classes will he get the 20% ?

    • Rose says:

Hi there…from what I understand state jail is day for day, what you get is what you do. He should be released on the date listed.

      • Anonymous says:

Can anyone talk to the inmate once he calls the person registered? I have a prepaid cell and the house phone is in my parents name. Please help

        • Rose says:

When my son would call my phone his brother, sister and dad would talk to him on my phone, as well as putting it on speaker so he could talk to his baby.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Veronica, Rose is right – state jail is day for day. Now, in some cases a sentence is a TDC sentence but due to different things a TDC offender is housed at a state jail unit. This is not the same as serving a state jail sentence. Considering his sentence is 180 days that sounds like state jail, and he will probably be there for the duration of the 180 days. Peace ~ Magnum

  40. Dawn says:

Ok I finally got my husbands info and sent out a letter. So my question is, can they get mail and send mail while in processing? The lady at the jail say they can’t while in processing but I just need to know cuz I haven’t heard from him since he caught chain and I don’t want him to think I forgot about him. :(

    • Rose says:

Yes they can write…just need to have money to buy the stuff to write/mail with!

      • Dawn says:

How long does it take for their commissary money from county to get to them?

        • Rose says:

I honestly don’t know. I just added money the minute the I got his number. Do you know about jpay? You can use it on the computer or the ap on your phone to write him, he will get the letters faster but still have to write you back regular mail. You can use this to put money on his books as well.

          • alma says:

Thank u for all the help for other families I was juest reading your massages n there very helpful god bless u n your family an the best for this year to all of yall nice n kind of yall

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Alma, thanks for your note. I consider myself lucky to be where I am at today, so it’s my pleasure to share what I know. Peace ~ Magnum

  41. Rose says:

Hey yall…hows it going? Shamekia any word yet? Hope all is moving forward quickly for you all…just wanted to check in! Praying still for you out here and your loved ones in there.

    • rainy972 says:

My husband caught chain on Dec 30 from Dallas county how long does it usually take for them to show up on the tdcj website… He has yet showed up…

      • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Rainy, It will take several days, especially since it was just a holiday. It’s a difficult time for the family of an inmate but try to be calm and keep checking. He is in intake and OK, it just takes a couple days to show up. Peace ~ Magnum

      • Rose says:

Hi Rainy…like Magnum said it takes a few days and unfortunately the holidays slow stuff down. He should show up any time now. If youre like me youre checking the site several times a day. As soon as he shows up write down his TDCJ number and you can enter it into jpay and write him and put money on his books. My son said being able to make store while in processing, when everyone told him no way it was too soon to have money, was like Christmas as a kid…and the letters just keep them going and encouraged! Hang in there!!

      • Anonymous says:

USUALLY SHOW UP IN 3-4 DAYS

    • Shamekia says:

Hi Rose no word yet on release but my boyfriend says he has less than 60 days. He is definite that he will complete the program on Feb. 4th. Just waiting now, he’s suppose to be on a monitor when he comes home.

      • Rose says:

That’s awesome!! The monitor is a pain but def better than being inside! If his is like my sons itll be for sixty days as long as he has a job…we have 20 more days to go and it comes off. Parole will call you and tell you so you will have to get a land line if so. I think it was about a month before release when they called me. I called ATT (because that’s who they told me to use) and got it all set up and was ready and waiting! Hang in there, its sounding promising like its almost over!

  42. Martika says:

I’m trying to find out my boyfriend’s ID number so I can write him, can anyone tell me how to write him? He’s in Jester 3 but I can’t get his information! Thanks in advance

    • Rose says:

If you enter his name above in the inmate finder he should come up with his number/unit/etc as long as hes been processed and given a number.

      • Texas Magnum says:

Hey everyone – wishing y’all peace in 2016. Life is good! If you’ve got someone inside just hang in there and the days will pass. Hope this time goes fast and my best advise is just to stay in toich as much as you can. For those inside hearing from family and friends keeps you going. Actually it’s amazing how quickly you find your real friends are real far and few between. But the ones that stick by you are the real deal.
Rose – how’s things going with your son? Hope he is doing well and adjusting to being home. I think you said he had a job straight out of the chute, right? I sure appreciate you keeping up on the questions here and helping folks with their questions. I got my hands full right now and don’t get on here as often as I should.
I want to add some more news and information to this site to help people out. Any suggestions you have about what would help the most? I think I’ve covered a lot of it about depositing money and communicating and all that. What else did you find yourself wanting to know when your son was facing incarceration in TDC?
        Peace y’all ~Magnum

        • Rose says:

Hey Magnum…glad to see you! My son is doing great, working, marriage growing…rebuilding a relationship with his son from a prior relationship. So far so good, just moving forward. I think a lot of questions I had during all of this were just to do with the unknown, which none of us can really answer other than off our own experiences and even then they don’t always match lol. You’ve got a wealth of information on here, I honestly don’t know what you could add. Im pretty sure most people are like me and just want this over and in the midst of it all are looking for hope and encouragement and a light at the end of the tunnel. That’s why I check in here every morning with my coffee…just to offer some encouragement and help with what I know. Its def not the best/funnest ride in the world but it does end and it does get easier. Im thankful for your blog and the time you take to answer questions!

Hi, I recently found out a good friend of mine is in prison, I do not know much about his case just what I found on the Internet. So I don’t know how to find out if he’s federal or state….I really would like to get access to an adress to where I could write to him. If you can please guide me or help me look for him I’d really appreciate it, his name is Daniel Villalobos and he should be 26 yrs old, hispanic. Thank you

          • Shamekia says:

Hi Mary, I put in your friends name on the TDCJ inmate search engine at the top of this page. It says that he is at the Clements Unit in Amarillo. Look that unit up and you should get the mailing address 9601 Spur 591, Amarillo, Tx 79107. Hope this helps.

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Mary, to add to Shamekia’s info, when you look him up in the inmate locator be sure to make note of his TDC number and include it next to his name on your letters. So you would put his name, his TDC#, then next line Clements Unit, then the rest of the address. You have to include your return address and also be aware that anything you write to him will be reviewed before it is delivered to him. Peace ~ Magnum

        • rainy972 says:

I have a question is shows my husband caught chain on Dec 30th when should his info show up on tdcj website… I’m trying to get him some money and let him know we are good since the horrible storm here in Garland.

      • Herrera says:

My husband was transferred to Dominguez on November 25th, he still has not been able to make phone calls and get visitation privileges. I’ve already registered my phone to receive calls, but his calls are not coming through. Does anyone have an idea as to why? I’m new to this whole situation and just need some guidance.

        • Rose says:

If he is still undergoing processing that can take anywhere from two weeks to 45 days. It was a little over a month from transfer before I got my first phone call from my son. Just continue to write him and make sure he has money on his books to by hygiene and writing supplies. Hang in there!

          • Herrera says:

Thank you for the advise. Do you happen to know if it might take longer for the processing to be completed due to the holidays?

          • Rose says:

The holidays can slow things down…people being off, etc. Nothing moves very fast any way in there and holidays sure don’t help.

    • Anonymous says:

Hi wasn’t sure how to ask questions, but here goes. My husband has been granted parole he is coming home Feb. 16, 2016 after 20 months. He will have the ankle monitor. My questions are “now what” ? He has a job. I know I am very fortunate, and believe me it’s be probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done. God is good and I’m forever grateful.
I don’t know what to expect. I guess should follow my own advice Let go let God. Maybe just answered my own questions thanks

      • Texas Magnum says:

Hey there, yeah, that is a good question. And, your answer to yourself was pretty good. I think it just depends. You know your husband and you know yourself, so you might already have an idea. I would say be patient with him and yourself and just let things unfold as they should. There can be a lot of pressure on everyone and once the euphoria fades a bit it’s back to reality as usual. I think the ankle monitor is tough on some people. It can be frustrating to be let out then still be tied down to the house so much. Hopefully he will be off that pretty soon. Good that he has a job lined up, that is excellent. Peace ~ Magnum

      • Rose says:

Hi there…my son got released the day before Thanksgiving on an ankle monitor for 60 days minimum, has a job and has about 30 days, or less to go on the monitor. His first weekend home was hectic because of the holidays and then people dropping in wanting to see him. Id catch him standing off alone and just go talk to him…it was overwhelming and he was sad that no one out here (friends) had really changed. He would go to his room where it was quiet because he just felt overwhelmed by all the commotion. That lasted a few days, maybe a week…but hes okay now. Still sometimes feels sad that he has made decisions for the bettering of his life and some family and friends are still living out there in ways hes leaving behind, but hes steadfast in his decisions and has decided loving them from a distance is what is best. Just be patient and give him room to go be alone if he feels the need. It wont take long and he will be back in the swing of life out here. The monitor is a pain just simply because they are free, but still tied to a curfew…but its not for long…like Ive been saying this too shall pass and it shall! Congrats on him coming home! Not long now, keep hanging in there! I know the joy and excitement you are feeling!

  43. Rose says:

Merry Christmas yall…Praying for those just starting on this road, that your walk be as easy and smooth as possible…praying for those finishing up and almost home, that these last days go by fast and easy. Keep the faith and keep hanging in there…it does pass…it does end…and it does get okay again. Much love and prayers to you all!

    • Nicole says:

Hi I’m new to this whole process could use some guidance on how to find where my husband got transferred to Tuesday from Harris county to Tdc, does anyone know how I can find out what unit he was transferred too or how long it will take for him to show in the system so I can write him? Thanks!

      • Rose says:

Hi Nicole…with the holidays it might take a little longer for him to show up in the system. All you can really do is keep checking the tdcj inmate locator site. Once he shows up you be able to get his number and write him and put money on his books. If you haven’t heard about the jpay ap you can download that as well and send him emails that the unit will print and give to him. He will still have to write back by regular mail but he will get your mail much faster. Im sorry your road is just beginning…hang in there, keep the faith and stay positive. Prayers for you and your family and husband. Processing can take anywhere from two weeks to 45 days, after processing he will be able to call you so as soon as you have his number you will want to register your phone. If you scroll down some you will see info I posted on how to register your phone. Hang in there!

        • Shamekia says:

Rose, I just want to thank you for your prayers. I got a letter from my boyfriend and be said that he should finish CHANGES program on February 4. Not sure when we will get a release date but there is some light at the end of this tunnel. The holidays are hard but Thank God it will be the last one without my love. To everyone just starting on this journey stay positive believe me it won’t be easy. You will cry, scream and ask why me but know that this is only temporary.

          • Rose says:

Hey…you are more than welcome. Im just sorry any of us have this knowledge and have to go thru this, inside and out here. You are right…there are moments of crying like a baby, feeling like it will never end…then the little bouts of joy/hope…then crying/screaming again…but it does pass. Im so glad you got a finish date for Changes…Im praying for you that he is home in February!!

  44. ShaMekia says:

My boyfriend was approved for parole with F1-3R in October 1st, 2015. He started CHANGES during the last of that month. I just got a letter from him saying he just got his blood work done and 2 weeks ago the parole office in Tarrant county called to verify my address. This is new to me so I don’t know what to expect next. I guess I’m anxious and excited for him to come home it’s been 20 months since he got locked up. Any information would be helpful.

    • ShaMekia says:

Oh yeah it also said this Approved on 10/01/2015

FI-3R (12/2015)- Transfer to a TDCJ rehabilitation program, such as Changes/Lifeskills, and release to parole on or after completion and not earlier than three months from the specified date of 12/2015.

      • Rose says:

If Im thinking correctly once he completes the program then parole will issue a release date. Changes was not required for my son to make parole or be released so I didn’t keep up with the dates of that class as closely, but I do know someone being released upon completion of a class and from what they know the class will complete towards the end of March and he should be released around the first of April, but no set date yet. I would call the Release phone number if I were you and see if they have a release date yet…512-406-5299. I called them daily until they had a release date for my son.

        • ShaMekia says:

Thank you for the info Rose. I will call because I’ve been checking the website daily and nothings changed.

        • jenny says:

hi i had a question my husband finished his class on the 30th and still no release how long does it take to see one? and will he be out for the holidays?

          • Rose says:

Try calling that release number…512-406-5299 and see if they have one. I called them daily, sometimes twice lol morning and right before five because I don’t know when they update stuff. Ive heard of people getting a release date the day before and then some getting a date a few weeks before…theres no telling really. Id just keep calling

          • jenny says:

Hi mmm i called nd i was told that the boards voted till April but his done with his classes i dont get it ???

          • Rose says:

If they voted and approved and he has finished his class…has his PRD happened yet? If not chances are that is his release date.

          • jenny says:

What is PRD? I was told voted but they didnt say nothing about approval…

          • jenny says:

i found his prd and that is till 2017 so does that mean he will come out till then ?

          • ShaMekia says:

Have you check his parole review status on the tdcj inmate search? When you go on there you should see a yellow tab saying parole review information. Click on that and it will tell you if the board has made a decision or not. Hope this helps.

          • Rose says:

Yea, click the yellow parole review button…see what all that says…its very frustrating and nothing moves very fast. Just keep checking things and hang in there. Hopefully under parole review there will be something to give you a bit more info.

          • Jenny says:

Yes he was approved already and it says FI-3R 01-2016 but I don’t understand none of this… thanks for helping me out

          • Rose says:

            Here is what I found…
            FI-3 R (Month/Year)–Transfer to a TDCJ rehabilitation program. Release to parole only after program completion and not earlier than three months from specified date. Such TDCJ program may include either CHANGES/Lifeskills, Voyager, Segovia Pre-Release Center (Segovia PRC), or any other approved tier program;

So January is the specified date so I see that meaning he is coming home in January…as long as all goes well, no cases I mean. YAY!!!!

          • jenny says:

one question on my husbands parole review it says this now FI-1 (FURTHER INVESTIGATION 1)- Release offender on parole supervision as soon as eligible???????

          • Rose says:

Hi Jenny…I don’t know why it changed to that. If you call the board he is under they may be able to give you more info. Does it give an eligible for parole date? Im sorry Im not more help.

          • jenny says:

NO WELL HE WAS APPROVED FOR PAROLE SENCE AGUST THEN IT SAID HE WAS APPROVED FOR THAT I CALLED ND THEY SAID AFTER HIS APPROVED FOR THAT AI-1 THAT IT TAKES FRM 30 TO 60 FOR HIM TO BE HOME…. WELL I GUESS IT DONT MATTER AS LONG AS HE COMES HOME RIGHT…. THANKS FOR HELPING ME OUT THO :)

          • Rose says:

Hang in there Jenny…hes coming home! I know its hard and frustrating and you just want a date to count down to and know an end is in site, but you do have an end, that 30-60 days…its coming! Maria, you are welcome. Its a hard time, for them and us…just hang in there, stay positive and keep the faith…this too shall pass and hopefully we will not walk this walk again!

      • sharon says:

Hello my husband recieved an FI 5 and approved for release under the stipulations that he complete an IPTC program and not to be scheduled for release no sooner than JANUARY 1 2016. He started that program in june and has since completed the program on december 16th 2015…He has not heard a word from nobody as far as his home approval or his release date. Can anyone tell me what to expect because all that has gone through the program with him has gotten their home approved and a release date except him. Thanks for any information that can be provided

        • Rose says:

Have you tried calling release at 512-406-5299 to see if they have a release date yet? It would seem like to me that you should be hearing something any time now.

    • Maria Gomez says:

I have a question about the 6,000 inmate nation wide release in our history! I don’t know how to leave a post here. Therefore, I had to go under a reply button. I constantly see my husband status everyday..I write letters to Parole since he still under review and we do have the right since his not up for a vote yet..information was told. The system is so unfair to our prisoners and we are their advocates for them out here! They took his short-way twice is placed in a Trustee camp but it seems that they are just not being heard justly. Our system is so chaotic when it comes to your love one behind bars. I sometimes wonder if they even read your letters written to the board and take efforts in seeing their good virtues. I guess I am just wishing to hard! I am sorry to vent like this but they have amendment as a prisoner and rights but I guess like they say? They are state property of classification and statistics of numbers.

      • Rose says:

Hi Maria. Im not sure Im understanding what your question is. I had read that the inmate release, the 6000 was federal inmates and really do not know much else about that. I know this is a hard road and no life in there is not fair doesn’t work like life out here. I pray your husband is doing okay and is able to be home soon. Keep writing your letters, checking his status and praying…this too shall pass…big hugs and lots of prayers to you and yours!

        • Maria Gomez says:

Good evening, Rose I do apologize for the confusion and misunderstanding on my behalf. I jumped from one topic to another. I truly don’t understand this system until you have your love behind bars! I read and try to understand the importance of short-way and denials of why and honestly it’s very heart breaking. I sometimes wonder if they even acknowledge our letters and even read the importance of them. Rose if you would read them I truly emphasize statically on how I am determined to bring him home. I am so glad at least our voice is being heard here and yes I appreciate your help and support. I will continue coming here for support because at times it really hurts me to see his status daily and still nothing..but please sorry for the confusion once again

          • Rose says:

Just pray Maria, that’s really all we have is prayer and faith. Keep the letters going to him for sure, he needs the encouragement and love. I know how hard this is, but it will pass. My son got to come home just before Thanksgiving. His first parole was denied and I thought I would die, but you just pull it together and trust that God has a plan and is working these things together for the good…Im sorry you and your family are going thru, it is heartbreaking. Hang in there!

          • Maria Gomez says:

Thank you! Very much for knowing what I am going through especially when there’s holidays coming and going. Yes! Praise God for all his work and letters I will not stop writing until they actually hear me out!! Rose, thanks for your support

  45. Okie says:

My husband was transferred to Holliday unit last week, Nov 23, and his number appeared a few days later. Got a letter from him and have been emailing him daily. This morning his information page is empty. When I search I get nothing. When I called the unit, the operator said that Visitation could look him up for me, but then she was unable to transfer my call. Any ideas what happened to him?

    • Okie says:

I finally got an answer. After trying for an hour, I reached an officer who confirmed that he is still at the Holliday unit. When I asked her why his name disappeared from the system, she said “Well sometimes that happens.”
      Wow, really?

      • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Okie, I am glad you were able to reach somebody and found out he’s still there. I just always figure, with TDC you just can’t count on things being as they should. And, there isn’t much you can do about it to top it off. Hope things go smoother from here on out. Peace ~ Magnum

  46. Rose says:

Just a little update. Things are going good. Son has a job. Parole is working with him good on hours and all with monitor. It was a bit aggravating the whole monitor, aa classes considering he was under the impression that by choosing to do the time rather than probation he wouldn’t have all this, but the monitor is only for sixty days and only on paper for a year so just making the best of it. But of a rough patch when realization hit that no one else has really changed, but decisions made to do him, his priorities and love those that cld hinder from a distance. I’m very proud of him. Still praying for those inside and their loved ones out here. Keep the faith and hang in there y’all.

    • Anonymous says:

Are you talking about Mark F. Walker? Was he finally released?

    • Texas Magnum says:

Rose you crack me up. Knowing all this prison terminology like “on paper” and “catching chain” – you shouldn’t even know about all this. Shame on your son and shame on me for putting my mom in the same position a few years back. Tell your son to suck it up and attend the AA and maybe he can even get some value from it. A monitor sucks but at least attending AA gives him an excuse to step out. Glad to hear he’s got a job. Hope to keep hearing good news about your son. Hang in there. Peace ~ Magnum

      • Rose says:

LOL! And now you sound like me…that’s EXACTLY what I said, suck it up! I started going to AA/NA earlier this year when my other son started having issues (when this one got locked up my other two fell apart), then started Alanon and its really been helpful so yea I agree he needs it and it will be a good thing. Whatever it takes to help self improvement and self awareness and keep that fire lit that says I don’t ever wanna go back there. Youre right, none of us should know this lingo…but such is life at times I guess lol. We are hanging!

  47. Vilma says:

    Hi,

Please somebody tell me information about SAFP program in Johnston Unit?…. My son was transfer 2 weeks ago and he’s still no visitation allow. I all ready open account for put some money in his commissary. But I want to know more about the program and when be able to talk to him..

    Thanks so much!!!

    • VEEDY says:

IT MAY TAKE A WHILE BEFORE GETTING A VISIT YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT TIL HE SET UP EVERYTHING AND DO YOU KNOW IF THIS GOING TO BE THE FINAL DESTINATION FOR HIM IT TOOK ME A MONTH BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO SEE MY HUSBAND MAYBE YOU WILL NEED TO WRITE HIM AND TELL HIM TO DO HIS VISTIATION LIST AND CALL EVERYDAY TO SEE IF THEY PUT IT IN THE SYSTEM YET

  48. Aly says:

Hi i was wondering if there was anyway on finding out where my husband was transferred he got transfered wednsday &&is still not popping up in the system

    • Rose says:

With Thursday being a holiday and now it’s the weekend you may not know until Monday or Tuesday. Was he transferred from a unit or from county?? If a unit you can call his previous unit and they will tell you.

      • Aly says:

He was transfered from a county supposed to be going to a state jail i kind of figured i would know anything right away due to the holiday and weekend but I’m just worried they called to cancel our visit we had wednsday because he had been moved… :(

        • Rose says:

I believe everyone goes to Middleton for classification and processing…then they are moved on to whatever unit they will be sent to. He should show up in the system Monday or Tuesday…then you can write him immediately, thru jpay once you know his number and put money on his books so he can make store and get stuff to be able to write you back as well as hygiene and some food. Processing can take up to 45 days, it did with my son. If you scroll down thru this thread you will see a timeline of my sons stuff. We didn’t do state but its basically the same, except state is day for day. Just hang in there, stay encouraging and positive in your letters and remember this too shall pass. Big hugs and lots of prayers for yall!

          • Aly says:

Thank you so much I’m freaking out here not knowing i guess ill check again monday and tuesday i did read on your story congrats on your son being home…

          • Rose says:

The not knowing was the hardest part for me. Lol I called every unit last week during transfer just so I could at least know where he was. Hang in there!

          • Aly says:

I spoke to my mother in law and she called and asked them if they could at least tell her if he was there at the jail that he was going to get transferred too and they told her he’s there but hasn’t been given a number yet so praise the lord its only 15 minutes away from where i live now i can wait to see him!!

          • Rose says:

Great! At least you now know where he is…that helps some for sure! The UNKNOWN sucks lol. Hang in there!!

      • Aly says:

Hi rose would you happen to know how long inmate orientation is?

        • Rose says:

The processing part at Middleton? They told me it could take anywhere from two weeks to 45 days…My son went to Middleton on 2/13 and then it was 3/15 when I got my first phone call and then 3/21 when I got to go visit. Saw him once at Middleton and then the next weekends visit he was at Rudd where he stayed until paroled out. In my case it was closer to the 45 days. Hang in there…keep writing…its so hard I know…but it will pass.

      • VEEDY says:

        hey rose,

when your loved one was release was it by the special schedule date or before it?

        • Rose says:

My son had his PRD on 11/29 but that was a Sunday and they don’t release on weekends. The Friday before tdcj release was closed for Thanksgiving so he got out on 11/25. If that PRD date falls during the week chances are it will be that date unless parole gives a different release date.

  49. Rose says:

Happy Thanksgiving Magnum!!! We are home…my home is complete…my tears are still falling and I am so blessed and so thankful. And yep theres video of the crazy mom jumping, running, and crying…so amazing…I hope your day is awesome!! Much love, hugs, peace and joy to you and yours….those still on this road or just beginning, hang in there…this too shall pass!!!!

    • gris says:

Im soo so happy for you rose im beginng on this road and its really hard but so happy for you cant wait till i can say the same as you
      god bless you

    • Texas Magnum says:

We have a lot to be thankful for today, all of us. Rose, I know you and your son are thankful and I know me and my family are too. I’ve got a son who just turned two and a beautiful baby girl. I just recently dodged a bullet health-wise and I’m married to a beautiful woman and a great mother to my kids. Yeah life is good. To all of you dealing with having a loved one in TDC – keep the faith. Keep the faith. Things can get better if you let them. Peace out, y’all ~ Magnum

      • Rose says:

Amen Magnum. We are blessed. My heart hurts for those still going thru. Keeping them in my prayers. Glad to hear about your babies and life!! Take care!!

    • Texas Magnum says:

Gris, some folks just get moved around a lot. It can be so random like no reason or thought behind it. As far as getting mail – yes JPay will follow him anywhere. So will regular mail from the post office but it can be delayed more as they forward it along to him.

  52. Kristin says:

My husband started in Middleton 1st of September then was transfered to the Byrd unit mid Oct and just recently got moved to Wynne. 1st parole review scheduled for January. Is it common to be moved this much? Is the mandatory minimum set off a year? Haven’t heard from him since Middleton so just trying to figure out how things worked. Thank you.

    • Rose says:

Hi there…my son went from Middleton to Rudd and then didn’t move again, but I was told this is because he had a shorter sentence (2 years) and sometimes those with longer sentences can be moved more…I haven’t dealt with that so I don’t know. I am copying the timeline of events with tdcj and my son below and maybe it will give you some idea of how things work, although they can vary. It seems that all cases are different and treated/handled differently. The main thing is to keep the faith, head up, think positively. Prayers all goes well, inside for him and outside for you.
      1/15 county
      2/13 Middleton
      2/19 Parole review started
      3/15 he called me
      3/21 first visit
      3/25 moved to Rudd
4/4 first contact visit and hug in 78 days
      4/6 Parole eligible
      4/28 he saw IPO
      6/17 Parole called me
      6/26 Parole denied
      7/3 Parole review started
      7/14 he saw re-entry
8/13 he got his line class change and his PRD moved up
      8/26 he saw IPO
      9/11 he finished Changes
9/18 they did labs on him
      10/12 PAROLE APPROVED!!!!!
      11/18 Transferred back to Middleton
      11/19 transferred, not sure where
      11/25 is release date

      • Rose says:

I just checked the site and he is at Goree now…in Huntsville. I know he is releasing from Huntsville at the Walls unit…so guess he is almost there…ahhhh. Praying for you and yours, I know this is hard, and very nerve wrecking. Hang in there.

Thank you for the response Rose! So happy for you and your son. :) I got a call from my husband so it looks like he’ll be far from home but he’s already seen parole for the 1st time and has over a year flat time in already even though he’s only been in a few months. We’ve been blessed in numerous ways and know that God is working all of this out. Thank you for the prayers as well.

Hey Roae just a shout out to you and your son. I know you are probably pretty damn excited. You and your family enjoy your Thanksgiving, it’s going to be a special one for y’all. Peace ~ Magnum

Hi my husband was just transfer 9 or 10 days ago i found him on the website but it says he is not eligible for visits does any one know way this may be hapening cause i called and they dont give me any reason or so

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Gris, it usually takes a short while to get visitation. First you need to go through intake and get classified and all that. Just be patient and communicate with letters and pretty quickly he should get visitation.

      • gris says:

Thank you so much im new in this and its been so hard and your website makes it a little easier also do you know if theres a number of letters (mail) they can have or keep with them

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Gris, you can send as many letters as you want. And getting mail is always the highlight of an inmate’s day. You can include photos (no nudity of any sort) and also things like copies of an article in a magazine. He can keep all your letters as long as they fit in his storage locker where he also needs to keep all his stuff like his food from commissary so there are some limitations. If he gets transferred at some point he will only be allowed to bring a certain amount of personal possessions but I wouldn’t worry about that right now. So, go ahead and start writing and don’t hold yourself back. (Just keep in mind that all letters incoming and outgoing are scanned by prison personnel so it’s not really private.) Good luck and keep in touch. Peace ~ Magnum

  55. VEEDY says:

HEY I NEED HELP GUYS, SO MY HUSBAND COMPLETED THE LIFE CHANGING CLASSES THE FIRST WEEK OF NOVEMBER BUT HIS PRD IS IN JAN 2016 WILL THEY MAKE HIM WAIT TIL THEN TO RELEASE HIM OR IT WILL IT BE BEFORE????

    • Rose says:

Has he been approved for parole?? If so then the PRD will be close to or exactly his release date. If no parole review yet then that still has to happen.

      • VEEDY says:

YES HE WAS APPROVED IN JULY FOR PAROLE AND THIS IS WHAT IT STATES >> FI-3R (10/2015)- Transfer to a TDCJ rehabilitation program, such as Changes/Lifeskills, and release to parole on or after completion and not earlier than three months from the specified date of 10/2015. >> NOT QUITE SURE WHAT IT MEANS BUT HE COMPLETED THE CLASSES AND I HAD SOMEONE TO CALL ME LIKE A MONTH AGO OR SO TO VERIFY HIS ADDRESS

        • Rose says:

Well to me it would seem like he would get out any time…if he could not be released no sooner than 10/15 and is to be released upon completion of the program. You could try calling your local parole office and see if they have anything on him yet…also, the release number in Austin 512-406-5202. They will just need his tdcj number and if they have a release date set will be able to tell you. Good luck! Really sounds like it should be soon!

          • Rose says:

I just saw your other post where his PRD is January…I still say call and see if there is a release date, but there is a very real possibility that he will not get out until his PRD

          • VEEDY says:

well I call someone this morning and they told me January but he completed his classes the first week of November but thanks for the info

    • dtmom2013 says:

Have they voted on his PRD yet, or was he approved for parole?

  56. nancyy says:

My bf signed for 3 years tdc how do I set up the phone for him to call me when he gets down there , how long will it take for him to receive his money from Harris county to tdc ?? Will I be able to go to store for him online ???? Please help a lot people tell me one thing and another

    • Rose says:

I don’t know how long it takes for money to transfer from county to tdcj.

I have trouble finding this site, makes it hard to keep up. I know you are on top of the world, waiting for next Wednesday! Hugs!! Thank you for the prayers!!

It makes so much difference being able to see them! Im praying yours is home soon…keep hanging in there!!! I did call and mine caught chain this morning to Middleton and they said he should leave tomorrow morning for Huntsville but to call back Friday and if he is still there I can see him Saturday. This week with no calls because of lockdown and transferring has been long and yucky and Im sure horribly long for him. Just oh so thankful its almost over! Oh and I just google each time Texas Magnum then click the link and then click home to get here lol

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey DTMom – thanks for your note on here. Glad Rose was able to help you figure things out. She told you to use “Texas Magnum” to find the site but here’s another real simple way – just type in “intexasprison.com” or search for “in Texas prison” and the site pops right up pretty easy. Peace ~ Magnum

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Rose, I know you and your son are so excited. Man, that is great, great news. Hey I apologize I haven’t been around to share in this great news with you. I had some unexpected surgery and the recuperating took a little more than I expected. But, I am back now, and everything came out OK so it’s back to normal.

So your son is already transferring and on his way, that is fantastic to hear. I guess you are already getting ready for the best Thanksgiving ever. I bet you are already cooking and planning. If he i like most of us, he is going to be on emotions overload when he gets home. It’s almost like so good feeling you can’t handle it – it’s awesome but at the same time almost too much because you have been waiting for it and imagining it so much for so long. I can’t even explain it, but he will know for himself in a few days. Then in a couple more days he will come back to earth and maybe even run into a few frustrations and challenges while he works it all out. Just be there and be patient with him.

I know you are real happy Rose, and I know he is about ready to bust. Congratulations to you on this very good news. Let us know all about his homecoming and hope you still find time to pop on here and visit. I got to get writing some new posts myself. Peaceful ~ Magnum

      • Rose says:

ahhh so glad to hear from you!! Ive been worried about you! Sorry recoop time took longer, but glad you are okay!! I was just fixing to try to email you if I didn’t hear from you soon lol. Im a worrying mother you know? I can only imagine how he must feel because I know my emotions are NUTS! The anxiety/anticipation/excitement…dear me lol. This will def be the BEST Thanksgiving EVER!! You take care of yourself and I will def stay in touch and want to keep hearing you are doing good!!!

        • Texas Magnum says:

Thanks Rose, I appreciate your concern and also thanks for helping folks out on here while I was out of action. I know you are just counting the days – it’s amazing TDC got it right and are giving your son back in time for Thanksgiving. Your son is one lucky dude. Peace to y’all ~ Magnum

  58. Jonyce says:

So my boyfriend has been transferred to a safp about an hour and a half away from our home town yesterday. It was early in the morning when he left but I can’t seem to find him on the tdc offender search, how long will it take for him to be in the system?

    • Rose says:

I don’t know about safp but it seems logical to say with tdcj it may take 24-48 hours for it show up changed in the system.

    • Priscilla says:

Hi, so I’m new to this and was hoping someone could answer if inmates are all mixed up or are they separated by crime in tdc? Pretty sure my dad is getting transferred here…separated by crime*

      • Rose says:

From what I understand when they are first at Middleton for classification they are all kinda together…then once thru there and set where to go their unit is based on length of sentence and type of crime…Magnum, is this right??

    • Lina says:

My son was transfer on Monday night to safp program and I check today and he is in the system all ready…

      • Texas Magnum says:

Lina that is great – glad he showed up so quick. He’s lucky to get safp – he’ll be home in no time. Peace ~ Magnum

  59. cheree says:

My fiancee has just been transferred but I don’t know where he is going and I can’t find him on any of the inmate searches, how do I find out where he’s been transferred to?

    • Rose says:

If he has just been transferred from county to TDCJ he probably will not show up in the system until Tuesday. Just keep checking. As soon as he shows up and you get his tdcj number you can find him in the jpay ap and send him letters and put money on his books.

    • Susan says:

Try calling the last place you knew him to be . See if they can or will give you any info .

  60. Samantha says:

My husband is in the Joe f. Gurney unit. He finished the changes and life skills class I little over a month ago. His projected release date is 11/22.I haven’t heard yet when the are going to release him. What I am wondering is how long does it take once the class is finished to get a release date.My husband has been tod that there is some things he will receive upon being released. Prepaid cell phone 50.00 in cash and This is the first I have heard of this. Does anyonehave any answersThanks.

    • Rose says:

Hi there. My son has a prd of 11/29. Ive called and am still calling Release to get his actual release date, so far nothing. Ive heard of those that don’t find out the actual release date even until the day before, argh! I have not heard anything about a cell phone, but have heard the money part. I would suggest calling the Release phone number daily, or even morning and afternoon and just asking for his release date…its 512-406-5202

      • Samantha says:

Yes I check the website daily and have been calling the release line and I have even called the parole officer. I was just hoping that we could have a couple of days notice. My husbands concerned that they will wait until the Friday before or Monday after on releasing him cause his p.r.d. is on a Sunday right before thanksgiving.

        • Rose says:

Chances are it will be the Friday before. My sons prd is the Sunday after Thanksgiving and then TDCJ is closed on that Friday after Thanksgiving so we are thinking his release date will be Weds before Thanksgiving…no way to know for sure until they get that release certificate. Its all a waiting game and us and our loved ones are the only ones in a hurry. I have a friend who didn’t get her hubbys release date until the day before release…argh!

          • Samantha says:

Thanks for the information and having someone to talk who understands where I am coming from and how I am feeling. It’s true us and our loved ones are the ones in a hurry for this. I know I’m very anxious for it to happen. So are our kids they ask all the time it is time yet mommy? I know it will get here it is just a matter of having patience. Hopefully you will find out on you son pretty quickly.

        • Rose says:

Thank you…and I hope you find out and its good news and hes home soon…this is hard on everyone. I hate it for those inside tho because we do have others that understand and then we have friends and family…it just makes me sad and crazy lol. Just gotta keep hangin in there!

      • VEEDY says:

HEY MY HUSBAND COMPLETED THE LIFE CHANGING CLASSES THE FIRST WEEK OF NOVEMBER BUT HIS PRD IS IN JAN 2016 WILL THEY MAKE HIM WAIT TIL THEN TO RELEASE HIM

  61. Rose says:

No release date yet…Im calling daily lol…but Parole did call today to verify address and said no restrictions nothing special…and then he sees re-entry again tomorrow, maybe hell hear the date tomorrow? Hes betting on Nov 25…I had a dream it was the 20th lol…so maybe we will know tomorrow. Im so freakin relieved that this is almost over…Im still praying for yall and your loved ones and the prisons/prisoners in general…if we hadn’t walked this walk I wouldn’t know the things I know now and may not be able to DO much but I know a God who can do all and will def continue to pray.

  62. Natalie says:

Is there a inmate site for Texas with pictures of our loved ones? Mug shots will be fine. My kids just want to lay eyes on their daddy

    • Rose says:

Not that Ive been able to find.

    • Texas Magnum says:

TDC does not release mug shots. Maybe that’s a good thing. Look at the good memories you have and refer to them. I pwrsonally think it’s better. Some TDC units take photos of inmates while they are in custody, sometimes in front of a cheesy, make believe background. The inmate can then pay for a print of the photo.

    • Joanna says:

I have yet to find one, but some counties jail or court records will have a mug shot attachment. Maybe yours will. Good Luck!!

  63. Rebekah McBurnett says:

Hello I have another question wat does Project Release Date mean its for 8/25/2017. His Parole Eligibility is on 12/02/2015 does that mean he has a parole meeting witht the board. If so is it possible he might get approved. I know its a long shot but id jus like some ones opinion or thoughts on this. Thank you

    • Rose says:

Hi there…projected release date is when they expect to release them. He is eligible for parole on 12/2, but that doesn’t mean he will see anyone or hear anything on that date. I am copying the timeline of events with tdcj and my son below and maybe it will give you some idea of how things work, although they can vary. It seems that all cases are different and treated/handled differently. The main thing is to keep the faith, head up, think positively but in the back of your mind hold on to the thought that the soonest he may be out is the 8/25 date. Prayers all goes well, inside for him and outside for you.
      1/15 county
      2/13 Middleton
      2/19 Parole review started
      3/15 he called me
      3/21 first visit
      3/25 moved to Rudd
4/4 first contact visit and hug in 78 days
      4/6 Parole eligible
      4/28 he saw IPO
      6/17 Parole called me
      6/26 Parole denied
      7/3 Parole review started
      7/14 he saw re-entry
8/13 he got his line class change and his PRD moved up
      8/26 he saw IPO
      9/11 he finished Changes
9/18 they did labs on him
      10/12 PAROLE APPROVED!!!!!

      • Kristin says:

So his parole was denied and the was back up for review that fast and then approved?! That is awesome. I thought they were set off a minimum of a year.

        • Rose says:

I know this is old, but I just saw it…when they are denied the first time then they are reviewed again…if denied a second time then its set off for a year before any review again. Bet you have this figured out by now, but just wanted to throw it out there for anyone else that might have the same question.

  64. Rose says:

Hes APPROVED!!!!! Magnum my son is coming HOME!!!!!!!! No date yet just the approval RMS…omg I cant quit crying and saying Thank you Jesus!!!! Hes coming home!!!!!!!!!

    • jennifer says:

my husband is in parole review right now. yesterday a lady from the parole board called to verify his address…does that mean that he has been approved or is that just a process they go through for everybody

      • Rose says:

Just a step they take…did she visit with you about him? They called me the first go around too…and he was denied. This time I haven’t heard from anyone but saw online that he was approved…I took everything as a sign of getting close to home!

    • Texas Magnum says:

Rose I am so happy to hear this. I guess you’ll be picking him up? They will release him in any old crappy clothes he remotely fits – so bring him something to change into – and if he had a favorite cap or boots or whatever bring them along too. You might bring along a CD he enjoys. Believe me he will be tripping. Getting out is surreal. You can’t quite Earp your head around it. My advice- be there but sort of leave him to himself for a day or two – he will come around, but let him take it all in. So glad for your good news Roae! Do you have a firm release date yet?

      • Anonymous says:

Hi! He’s already told me which jeans, shirt, boots and cap. His phone and music lol. His wife is picking him but coming straight here. I called arelease and they told me to check back next week to see if they’ve gotten release certificate with date. Target date is 11/29. I’m so excited. I’m sure I’ll be pacing the floors till he walks thru the door. Thanks for the info, I’ll make sure he has space if he needs to “escape” the holiday crazy.

    • Joanna says:

I am so glad your loved one is on his way home to you!!

      • Rose says:

Thank you so much! Got the phone call from his parole officer..gonna have a monitor for sixty days (ugh but at least hell be home lol), so got a land line being installed and just getting ready. His PO said that he will be home pretty quick, that once she receives the info and contacts the family its not much longer. Still waiting to hear that release date tho!

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Rose and Samantha, glad to hear that both of you have a homecoming on the horizon. Y’all will have blessed holidays this year. Best of luck and thoughts to you and your loved ones. ~ Magnum

Hi my names Rebekah im new to this. My fiancé just got transferred today so i know it will take a lil while b4 i can get his tdc# but my question is he signed for 5 yrs and he has to do 1 yr state. He already has 11 months under his belt. How long do you think hell be home if he behaves.

    • Rose says:

Hi. There is no way to really know for sure. My son signed for two years and was told hed be out in six months…that did not happen. We are now in our second parole review and praying he is released after almost a year inside. I do know that the year state jail is day for day so its good that he already has 11 months behind him. Just pray for the best and keep your fingers crossed.

  68. James says:

How would I be able to write to someone who’s doing time? Do I need to type or can it be handwritten? And one last thing, what would the approximate time be for them to receive the letter? I.e. 3-5 days, 2 weeks, 1 month etc..

    • Rose says:

Hi there…there is an ap called jpay that you can download on your phone or use from a computer. Its pretty much sending them email. You buy stamps (10 for less than 5 dollars) and email them. The unit prints these emails and gives them to the inmate within about 48 hours. Depending on size of unit and load in mailroom is what determines how fast their mail goes out and how fast they get your mail. You can write by hand, type, whatever just make sure you fill out the envelope with Inmate name, # then the unit and address. Remember they do scan all mail going in and coming out.

  69. Rose says:

Okay my turn again lol…I guess Im looking for assurance or reassurance. Im just so mistrustful and cynical. Where we stand right now is IPO says all is good and my son will be released on PRD. Parole votes after the 15th of this month…I do have a count down going on and we are at 49 days till PRD. Labs have been done, picture taken for id/dl…I still catch myself holding my breath and feeling as if I wont breathe easy until he walks out those doors. His prd is a Sunday, from his experience seeing people come and go, they don’t release on Sunday so the Friday before is the day after Thanksgiving…does TDCJ shut down on Black Friday lol? Could my hopes and prayers be legit that he will be home before the holidays? Its getting closer to that date and Im feeling anxious, hopeful and worried all at the same time…got some reassurance for this crazy mother? Hope all is awesome in your life Magnum!

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Rose, sorry I have been out of pocket for a while. I will tell you what I always said while I was inside – Hope for the best and expect the worst. I hope your son is released before Thanksgiving, that would be a fantastic gift for all of you. I would say that the timing seems really good that it COULD happen, but keep in mind that TDCJ is not going to take things like holidays or convenience into consideration. The fact that so much is happening for your son that indicates he is on the way out is very positive and I think very soon TDC will be behind him and you. Make sure you let us know how it goes on the 15th and any more news you receive, we will all be glad to her good news. It’s the best part of this blog, when someone who is on here due to a family member or loved one can let us know they are living free again. Peace ~ Magnum

      • Rose says:

Thanks Magnum! Im just hoping and praying and holding my breath lol. I will be sure to let you know…Ive made some friends on these boards and my heart goes out to so many who have much longer sentences, adopted one of my sons friends at another unit lol…its just heartbreaking, yes I know you get yourselves in there, but whew its a hard lesson/punishment to have to learn. Glad you are doing so good!

  70. Doug says:

My family member was recently “accepted” at Plane Unit for 180 days. I have deposited $ in the account and registered for phone callls. How long does it usually take before they can make a phone call?

    • Rose says:

Im not sure, Im thinking with the 180 days that it must be state jail…I know with Middleton they said it could take anywhere from two weeks to 45 days to get a phone call. My daughter had a friend who went to Sanchez, which is also a state jail, and I think he was able to make calls sooner than that. Im sorry Im not much help…the main thing is the money on their books so they can hit store and write you asap! Hang in there, 180 days seems long but it will go by fast!

  71. Naykee says:

My husband went before the parole board while in the transfer unit Middleton and he was just transferred to another unit but closer to Dallas does this mean he’s been approved by the parole board or what does this mean.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Naykee, not necessarily. You should be able to look him up on the Inmate locator, then click on Parole Information and see what it says. Maybe by now you have heard that he is approved for parole, hope so. Good luck to you and peace ~ Magnum

  72. Rhiannon says:

How long after an inmate leave the county jail does it take for them to get to there permanent unit.My husband made it to the Byrd unit on 9-23-15 but is going to safp how long does the transfer take. as I kno his time doesn’t start til the day he gets to the safp unit

  73. Heather says:

Can my finace call my cell phone from the middleton unit?

    • Jeannette says:

How long did it take for him to get processed?

    • Texas Magnum says:

Heather, I never had phone privileges in prison so I don’t know all that much about it to be honest. It is expensive compared to stamps and envelopes so I wrote letters. But, here is what TDC has to say about it. Hope this helps. http://www.tdcj.texas.gov/offender_telephone/index.html. I know as far as cell phones the phone has to be billed to your name as it is on your driver’s license and a few other rules. Good luck ~ Magnum

      • Jeannette says:

Hey magnum any idea how long it takes for someone to show up on the tdcj website after being transferred from county into the safp program

        • Rose says:

just a few business days and they should show up…the phone calls, you have to register your phone and I know with Securus when my son calls its like 5.20 for 20 minutes.

    • Rose says:

After they are processed they will get to call. The processing can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 45 days. They can begin getting mail and sending mail immediately, as long as they have money on their books to buy their stuff.

  74. Gissel Valdivieso says:

    Hello all.

My husband was transferred this past Thursday night. When I research his name on the Harris County inmate search it says he is not in jail. When I search on this website he doesn’t come up either. My question is, how do I locate him and where he was sent to? Thanks!

    • Jeannette says:

Have you found out anything yet????

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Gissel, it usually takes several days for s person to show up in the TDC inmate locator. Just keep checking and he will show up. As soon as he does you will see his TDC number on his record. You will need to include that on letters to him. You can click on the unit name that shows there as well and that will bring a new window to open that will show the address of that unit. Peace ~ Magnum

  75. Doug says:

Thanks for being here. Your info made it easy to locate inmate and make account deposit.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Glad to hear it Doug. Peace ~ Magnum

      • Yvette says:

If my loved one has a 35 year sentence non-aggravated. How much time do they need to serve in order for the parole board to consider the inmate for release?

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Yvette, sorry to hear your loved one is facing a long sentence. It’s good it’s non-aggravated. If you look him up in the locator tool, the projected release date is going to be a good indicator, but it’s hard to say with any certainty – it will depend on many factors. Good luck and peace to you and your loved one ~ Magnum

  76. Angelica Martinez says:

Can anyone please tell when when my sons father should be released his name is Rodrigo Montalvo date of birth 4/23/1990.I also have been getting calls from a church and different orginzations today asking for him so they can help him get on his feet but I tell them that he is still in prison. So with that being said it seems like he is getting out soon but I’m still not 100% sure November will make 1 yr he is in there.

    • Rose says:

The site says he has to complete a program first before being released and there is no release date set so there is no way to know as of yet. The good thing is that his parole is reviewed. Just keep checking the site.

      • Angelica Martinez says:

Thanks so much, I honestly don’t understand the site that much. How did u find out that he is in a program and that his parole is being reviewed?

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Angelica, when you search and find the inmate’s record, you can scroll down the page a bit to see more details. If you click the yellow button that says Parole Review Information you will see the details Rose told you about.

          • Angelica Martinez says:

Oh yeah I do see that, thanks so much I really appreciate it. His son misses him so much. I just wish I knew the exact date he is getting out

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hang in there Angelica, time has a way of moving on and before you know it he will be home.

          • Gissel Valdivieso says:

Thank you. When my husband actually pops up in the system I will try and see the information Rose is able to get. So this is really helpful although I was not the original requestor.

          • Texas Magnum says:

Glad it helped you and hang in there.

  77. Angelica Martinez says:

Can anyone please tell when when my sins father should be released his name is Rodrigo Montalvo date of birth 4/23/1990.I also have been getting calls from a church and different orginzations lately asking for him so they can help him get on his feet but I tell them that he is still in prison. 78. Rose says:

Hey Texas Magnum….trying to hold on to myself here, but I think we got some good signs. My son has to see medical today for labs…and he had put in for a different job and the Major told him last night that they weren’t approving it because he wasn’t gonna be there much longer and there was no reason to train in a new position…good signs right? I hope! Praying home time is around the corner! Have a GREAT day and weekend!

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Rose, that is great news and it sure does sound promising. By the sounds of it, he’s a short timer now for sure. I hope you get some firm news and a date soon, and let us know when you do. Peace out to you and your son ~ Magnum

      • Anastasia says:

Hello Magnum. My boyfriend is in Wallace Unit he saw parole like a week ago. I checked the website and it stated that he was not in parole review that he was approved on 9/15/2015. But below that it said FI-2 (7/2016). Can you tell what that means and about how long before he comes home?

        • Anastasia says:

Oh by the way his tdc number is 01802937 Darrell Donaldson

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Anastasia, FI-2 means release on parole on a specified future date, so it would seem in his case that would be July of 2016. Sometimes part of this is they want the inmate to complete some courses like Changes before being released. TDC shows him at Wilderness 3 which I am not familiar with. Makes me think it might be some sort of rehab camp unit? Anyway, less than a year, and he ought to be home. Those dates they give are not guarantees but around that time. Good luck to you and peace ~ Magnum

          • Anastasia says:

Hello Magnum. Yes the Wilderness 3 is a camp site. So if he happens to finish his classes is it a possible that he will be released before july?

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Anastasia, I don’t know, I would think that the July date is the most realistic to count on. I don’t want to get your hopes up so just count on July and if it turns out earlier then you got lucky. Peace ~ Magnum

          • Anastasia says:

Makes since to me But turns out you were right. His release date is 7/1/2016 he has a 9 month program to finish…. Just glad he’s finally coming home. Thanks for your help! God bless

  79. Julie says:

Hello my niece will be going in front of the parole board on Monday 9/21/2015. I just sent my support letter today 9/14 will the parole members still accept it even though her parole hearing is just right around the corner? Thanks in advance!

  80. Bobby says:

My Daughter has been trying for days to get information on her Mother in Carol Young Facility. Her TDCj number is 00607836 Lori Beth Adams. It is our understanding she may have had some seizures or strokes and is not expected to make it much longer. The tough part is nobody id cooperating in giving us information on her condition. How can we get a status on her condition? For all we know she could have passed and it has been swept under the rug.
    Thanks!

    • Texas Magnum says:

It is very hard to get the folks at a unit to tell you anything. If you have good reason to believe she is seriously ill, your daughter might try to contact the prison chaplain. They can be a little better about talking to a family member. Lori Beth Adams still shows as at the unit, so she has not been transferred to a hospital, if that was the case she would show as temporarily unavailable. So, hopefully she is not as bad off as you are thinking. I hope your daughter hears something soon, she must be very worried. Keep us posted when you get some word, and peace to y’all ~ Magnum

  81. dolly says:

my son is serving 180 days in state jail has been in county detention center waiting to be sent to state jail he has been in county detention center for 3 months wish is half his sentence already and barely got sent on tuesday 9/8 how long before i can find out what his release date will be shows nothing in the tdcj website yet.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Dolly, State Jail sentences are meant to be “serve all”, so he is looking at doing the remaining 90 days. You can look forward to him being home in time for Christmas. Good luck to both of you and peace ~ Magnum

  82. Bianca Woods says:

Is the Johnston Unit in Winnsboro TX on lockdown? Ive been trying to get with tdc#1998001 & cant contact him.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Bianca, as far as I can see Johnston Unit is not on lockdown. When you say “trying to get with”, what do you mean? Contact by letter or visit? He is eligible for visit, are you on his visitors list? Good luck ~ Magnum

  83. Vicky says:

I have been looking for my brother-in-law for a couple of days and I can’t seem to find him his name is Jose Dario Ramos Mejia and his day of birth is 10/04/1991. I have been looking for him for a couple of days and I can’t find nothing on him. I for a fact know that he is in jail I just don’t know which one.

    • Rose says:

Is he in jail or prison? I only know how to search the TDCJ site and he does not show up there. If its jail and you know what county you should be able to call them and find out if hes there.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Vicky, if your brother in law was recently detained then the first step is to find out where. He will not be in prison yet, that takes time and may not even happen, depending on what he is detained for. He can be in a county jail or city jail. If you know what city or town he was at, that is your best bet. Find out the County for that city or town. Some Texas county jails do have inmate search tools, you can find their websites pretty easily searching Google. But, a lot of city and county jails are a LOT more helpful than they are at TDC, and you can just call and ask if he is detained there. Regarding his name, you need to make sure you ask for him the way his license reads or his official ID. Usually in the US the father’s last name is the name used and they drop the mother’s last name. So, I am guessing you would want to ask for Jose Ramos and his birth date. If you tell us what city or town he was in when this happened, I can try to help you find him. Meanwhile, he might contact your family soon. Hang in there and good luck. Peace ~ Magnum

  84. Cruz c Castillo says:

I wish to no above my son got parole he been for many years in prison’s he have pay half years of the time put I hope have give him his time to come home because I need he to help me I’m a sick ludy I need my son thanks you sir

    • Rose says:

      What is your sons name?

      • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Rose, thanks as always for keeping an eye on things here. I appreciate you. Any good word from your son lately? Peace ~ Magnum

        • Rose says:

Hi there! Hope your life is going amazing! Ive become rather “OCD” about checking the sites Ive used thru this time period lol…several times a day. Nothing new yet, but Changes is finished this Friday and we will send in copies of his certificate to the parole board. I know they vote next month. Other than that we are just hanging and waiting and hoping. A guy in his dorm had a SA to PRD and when his Changes class was completed his SA changed to a release date about a month early, so not holding my breath but am hoping lol. Just hangin in there and holding on!

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Rose, have you guys sent in a parole packet? TDC says they are not necessary but a lot of folks prepare them and send. Basically it is showing parole that your son has a good support system waiting on the outside, from family and friends, a place to live, possibilities of a job. Might be worth getting one together, can’t hurt, might help. Not sure if you can see this link but here is some info about it: http://prisontalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=594

        • Rose says:

Yes sir…we have sent in a packet, numerous letters with several jobs available to him. Thank you for thinking of us tho. I did turn around and send in new letters with second review even tho they said he would have all files from first review. My son actually even wrote his own letter this time and didnt last time, so maybe it will help.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Cruz, there are so many factors that effect when someone gets parole. If you give us his name we can see what TDC has to say. It depends on his charges, if they are considered “aggravated” charges then it takes longer to get parole. Also, it depends on how things have gone for your son during his incarceration. If he has done half his time that is great, he is getting much closer to his release. I am sorry to hear you are not well, and hopefully we can find out he will be home soon to help you out. Take care and peace to you ~ Magnum

  85. Lucie Bradford says:

My brother was transported to the Middleton Transfer Unit 08/31/2015. I have been trying to get an ID number for him using the TDC inmate search but have had no luck. How long does it usually take for them to show up in the system? Would it be best if I called Middleton?

    • Rose says:

Hi Lucie…I would think he should show up on the tdcj website today or tomorrow…My son was transferred on a Friday morning and I believe it was Tuesday when he was on there and I could write him. Just keep checking the site. You can try calling, I did when my son didnt show up right away, but they couldnt tell me anything. Hang in there, right now all you have is patience.

      • Lucie Bradford says:

        Thank you so much, Rose!

        • Rose says:

Youre welcome! As soon as you get his number write him and if possible put money on his books. My son said the first trip to store everyone was telling him he couldnt buy but he got there and had money! He said it was like Christmas. Letters and some money help them so much! Hang in there!

  86. Jessica says:

Ok, so my boyfriend has been gone 9/25/2015 will make 3 yrs, he signed for 7 but for some reason he believes that he will be home a lot sooner than either of us expect. I wanted to ask is that really possible since this is not his first offense? Also he mentioned something about his custody level changing that will allow him to call me more often, not really sure what that means either. I am just lost and need clarification on what’s going on. He is 6 hours away from me and has been for 2yrs now, I am checking tdcj offender search to see if anything has changed and nothing…. Help me please….

    • Rose says:

Hey…Im sorry there is no set answer. Parole depends on how they behave inside, the nature of their charge, the history…its hard to just guess. My son signed for two years and was told hed be eligible for parole after six months. In our naivety we took that to mean home in six months…rude awakening. He was denied his first parole and is being reviewed again now. The parole officer there at the unit told him that if he had a longer sentence, like five years, he would of done went home, but that short sentences normally stay until their PRD. I dont know your boyfriends situation, but its possible if all goes well he could make it home by his PRD…just depends on all sorts of things. Sorry

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Jessica, what Rose told you is pretty much the case, there is just no way to know, as there are so many variables. I will say having his custody level change for the better IS good. That means he is behaving as they want him to, doing the classes they want him to, etc. and yes, it can result in more privileges. It sounds like your boyfriend is preferring to remain optimistic about his situation and that is a good thing. Write to him often and encourage him to keep on the right path – he will be home soon. Peace to y’all ~ Magnum

  87. Rose says:

Hey Texas Magnum…thanks!! I will try with an alternate email and see if I can get in. I honestly dont know if it were the phone calls made by me and my daughterinlaw, the fact that the co was caught in a lie, or just an answer to prayer but it all worked out and he was not cut off of contact visits and it all “went away” So Im thankful! Anddddd he saw IPO yesterday and as long as things stay as they are he will be out 11/29, which is a Sunday so they said it would probably be 11/27 and that is the friday after Thanksgiving so she said he could possibly be home before the holidays!! Im so thankful! Thankful for this site, for jpay forum and just in general! God is good and Im praying for yall…and I worried a bit I might be overstepping bounds by answering questions, I dont have a lot of experience, but do know how it feels out here with someone in there and just want to encourage and help others thru as much as possible. Take care!!!

    • Texas Magnum says:

Right on, Rose. Sounds like things are looking up. Your son will soon be what’s called a short-timer – looking at light at the end of the tunnel. Glad to hear it, and any and all input and participation from any one who happens along here is good stuff as far as I am concerned.

  88. Jaye says:

My fiancé was just transferred to Garza West. How long does it take for an inmate to receive a visit? Also will I be able to have a contact visit as a fiancé.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Having a contact visit depends on if you are on his list that he filled out when he arrived at TDC. I would imagine, as his fiance, you were included. It usually takes several weeks to get cleared for visitation. Meanwhile, keep in touch with letters to him, they will help him keep his spirits up and feel in touch with the outside world. Peace ~ Magnum

  89. NayNay says:

My husband caught chain this morning from LewLew in Dallas,Tx how long will it be before I can find out where he has been placed.

    • Texas Magnum says:

NayNay, it usually takes just a couple days before a person shows up in the TDC system. Just keep checking every day and he will show up. When he does, it will show his TDC number, which you have to put on your letters to him, and it will show the Unit he is at. To get the address, click on the Unit name and a list with all the addresses will pop up. Peace ~ Magnum

  90. LaRica says:

What would make someone not eligible for visits…. and when it says projected release date is that date a guarantee that he would be out on that day

    • Rose says:

My sons visit status changes from yes to no every weekend when he gets his visit, then on Monday changes back. If they got in trouble their visits could be restricted and I believe if the unit is locked down there arent visits. The projected release date is not a promise…thats just when they CAN let them out if they want to and if they have done their time/classes well with no problems or cases.

    • Texas Magnum says:

As Rose said, there are a lot of reasons for not being eligible for visits. Everything from a discipline issue he had to the entire unit or just his pod being on lockdown. And, a projected release day is not a guarantee at all. It is just when the system figures is around when they will get out. Then, in actuality, it has to do with many factors, if he has kept out of trouble, completed certain classes, and things like that.

  91. Margarita says:

My boyfriend was in Ector county Odessa, then been moved to hudspeth county in Sierra Blanca, his release date should be August 10th, but today he still there, not moved back to Odessa yet. I so worry, don’t know what happened. Is that possible they keep him longer in jail?

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Margarita, when it comes to County jail I am not sure what might be going on. Sometimes a person is in one county jail and then gets sent to another to face some charges they had pending in that other county. That might be the case with your boyfriend. Have you called the jail he is at for information? At a county jail it is usually a lot easier to actually get someone on the phone who will tell you some information. That would be what I would ry if I was you. But, it’s been awhile since you wrote this so maybe he is home by now, I hope so.

  92. Rose says:

I tried prisontalk again, thru Mozilla and IE. I log in and get a thank you for logging in then a box pops up that I cant access the site either I am not approved/activated or have been deactivated, same thing that has happened since first creating a log in there.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Rose, first off thank you for being here on the blog and helping out with people’s questions. I have been real busy and not able to be on here much at all. I notice you are really helpful though and I appreciate you helping folks getting some answers. As you know it’s a confusing time for people when their loved ones and family members are sent to prison. Now for prisontalk.com, I just don’t know what could be happening. Can you click on FORUM and at least read the threads or you can’t access the forum at all? I wonder if you just made yourself a new email address, like a gmail account or yahoo account, and try again starting fresh. I know, from how much you have participated on this blog, that the forum would be good for you, it’s very active all the time and there is lots of folks who really know all the ins and outs of getting through this. I guess there is only so much hassle a person wants to go through to get on a forum. Wish you weren’t having those problems. Hang in there Rose and peace to you and your son ~ Magnum

  93. Rose says:

Here I am again. Is there ANYthing you can do about a co lying and writing a minor case (with major consequences)? I called to speak with the Warden, instead got the Liaison…We are very upset about the unfairness of the situation and how my son is being treated…all he has done is just try to do is time and get home. It almost feels like its all a mind game and they WANT to tear you down and cause you to act like an idiot and be all the things they think you are. Its very hard to maintain a good attitude and mood when you see the bs and now are subject to the bs unfairly. Should I continue to call the Wardens office and try to speak to him? Should I go the ombudsman route? I really need some direction here. My son has already filed his grievance/appeal…other COs even told him to do this that they have never seen him or his wife be inappropriate as accused…the CO that wrote him up did not see anything, and during the discussion after visitation stated that he did not see anything and my son should be glad or he would write him up, but then turned around and wrote it up as if he had witnessed it and terminated the visit ten minutes early. The terminated visit is bs and the Liaison even said that was bs they do not have the authority to do that and cant do that so he dont know why the CO said that. I said well if he said that and its not true then how do you know the other part is true? No answers, just oh well its just 60 days no contact visits, 30 days no rec or commissary…oh thats easy for them, it dont effect them. Im sooooo aggravated with this mess. Can you call someone, Huntsville, someone and request a transfer to a new unit due to singled out by a co and treated unfairly?

    • Rose says:

Never mind…God is good and things are okay…nothing needed more than prayer and believe me prayer works!

    • Been there says:

I have been in situations in prison before. And the truth of the matter is, they are not going to do anything. It’s his word against the co. And like one co told me. One co lying, will carry more weight than twenty prisoners telling the truth. No one will ever know, cause those walls hide everything from the outside world. Sorry. Sad but true. And the warden will only pass it down to rank. Which is friends with the co. So you are in a no win situation..

      • Rose says:

yea…some how tho this last weekend he still got a contact visit…hoping maybe its all resolved, hoping, guess we shall see when I go this weekend. Just be glad when this crap is over

    • Tdcco says:

Best advice is tell your son to read his inmate handbook. My experience is that inmates who cannot or will not follow the rules such as shaving, keeping shirts tucked in and pants up, engage in disobedience to orders, late for work or classes, cursing at staff are the ones that wind up calling mommy for help to call the warden.
These are supposed to be grown up men. The vast majority of inmates do thier time after adjusting to the rules of prison life without getting cases.
They know the rules better than the gaurds. It they that control how hard thier time is. This is the first time for many that they have been told that NO means NO.
You were not there when they did thier crime and you can’t be there to do thier time. All he is doing is stressing you out and using you.
Yeah there are some officers that are more strict and c/s than others, but basics of following the rules, the yessir and no sir, yes mam and no mam.
      Go along ways.

      • Rose says:

Thanks for the advice. My son has read the handbook and has had no cases and been in no trouble…this situation was a stupid one that wasnt even true and has been fixed. I have yet to have him call crying to me about anything, he may call pissed off and vent, because he holds his tongue in there and minds his own business and is just trying to get this behind him. He had his on straight before choosing this sentence and has only gotten stronger in his determination for a new life since. And yes he chose this, against my better judgment and input…but its okay because its almost over, finally.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Rose I have to say, even though its really shitty that your son is getting the run around, there probably isn’t much you can do about it. My best advise on this is that he is going to have to tough it out. I don’t think you contacting anyone there at the prison will help much. What Tdcco and Been There replied to you was maybe worded a little harsh but basically that is the way it is. The guards have the power in there. Some of them are ok guys just doing a job and others are on ego trips or just jerks. It’s like you said, sometimes they are trying hard to push you into getting angry and screwing up. Hopefully your son just lays low for a bit and things settle down for him. I tried not to tell my mother about stuff going on because I knew she would just spend all her time dwelling on it and worrying about it and I also knew there wasn’t much to do except just get through it. I hope that is what your son chooses to do. Just remember, each day passing is one more day closer to the end of this. Keep the faith.

I believe it will take a couple of business days

        • marlenen says:

Hi, I belive you’ve been helping everyone here. So I ask you My babies father got caught with a cellphone about 1year ago they moved him to high security and just recently heard from court , they are trying to give him 9yrs is that right? Or should I just get a lawyer for him??! Thank you

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Marlenen, I answered your other question already, but yes I think you should get a lawyer if it’s possible. Having a cellphone inside is a serious offense. Good luck ~ Magnum

      • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Christy, I was away from here for awhile. I am pretty sure by now you’ve found him but yeah, it takes a couple days for a person to show in the system. Hope you have been able to hear from him by now and that things are going OK. Peace ~ Magnum

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Dulce, sorry for the delay. I am sure by now you have found out Jonathan is at Garza West. That is a transfer unit so you can expect him to move again at some point but if you write to him with his TDC number and he is transferred they will send his letter to where he is. Same with money on his books. Good luck to you and him. Peace ~ Magnum

  95. Stephen says:

My sons sentence to state jail after probation revokation was for 180 days but his release date shows only 90 days(which ends today). Since state jail doesnt have “good time” or early release how can that be and will he likely be relased on that day? The site still says not sheduled for release, same as it always has so we’re kind of confused.
Also he is at the Hutchins Tx. unit, when he does get released, where will they do that? Just send him out the front gate or transfer him to someplace likea jail beforehand?
    Thanks

  96. Hello I’m in need of help or advise on what to do . My dad is in prison is being released 8/7/2015 , he is a resident here in the US but the problem he got into could cause him to lose he’s green card an get deported , anyways ive called ICE an I CAN’T seem to get a hold of anyone , what should I do ????

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Daniella, ICE is real hard to get a hold of. I think if ICE wants to deport him right away, he would already have an ICE hold on him. If he is being released and you don’t know of any ICE hold on him, then he is probably OK for the moment and can get out and then deal with this himself. If anything try to find out if he currently has an ICE hold. He ought to know if he does. Good luck to you and your dad. ~ Magnum

  97. Chris says:

    What does temp release mean?

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Chris, a temp release can be for a couple of things. Sometimes it is to be transferred to a county jail to face other pending charges. Sometimes it can be for medical attention that is above what can be provided at the prison infirmary. Very rarely an inmate is released for a funeral of a close family member, but this isn’t too common. Hope you get word soon as to where they are. Peace ~ Magnum

  98. LaRica says:

I am looking at my boyfriends record and it says hes not eligible for visits… does that also include letters… can i write him and how?

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey LaRica, You should be able to write to your boyfriend even if he cannot have visits at this time. Peace ~ Magnum

  99. VGarcia says:

It shows my brother should be released on 7-29-15, but still hasn’t been transferred to the release center(Huntsville). Is the date an estimate or for sure he will get out that day. How do I check? Btw it’s only 2 days away

    • april says:

That is only a projected release date. If you are not 100% sure call the prison he is located in. As long as you are immediate family, they will release the information to you. They sometimes will not ever transfer to a release center if it is a short term prison sentence.

    • Crys says:

You can always write to him .. I believe

    • Texas Magnum says:

Sorry I missed this question VGarcia, hope you got it figured out and that your brother is now home enjoying his freedom. Peace ~ Magnum

  100. musbheaven says:

it shows that my daughter is being release from Plane jail on 7/23/2015 and I was wondering what do I have to do to pick her up? do i have to call a telephone number or do I just show up

    • Texas Magnum says:

As far as I know you should not have to call. You show up, and you might have to wait for an hour or a couple hours in your car so bring a book or magazine. Does she know you are coming to pick her up? You can bring her a change of clothes, because she will be released in whatever odds and ends they can find for her, it is usually something she would not prefer to wear and doesn’t fit right. You can try calling 936-295-6371 or 800-535-0283 which are information lines but it can be real hard to get through. If you call there you need her TDC number. Good luck to you and your daughter ~ Magnum

  101. Diane says:

Hello , please can you help me, I’ve been trying to find my brother in law Refugio Delgado , DOB August 22, 1981 Please can you help me find him. Thank you

    • liz lichtenberger says:

Hi my boyfriend Abel aguliar was picked up on the 8th from Polk county jail in crookston mn. And he still hasn’t made it to a county can anyone please tell me what’s going on how long will it take him to be in county or is he okay. D.o.b 02 12 1995

      • liz lichtenberger says:

Please someone help me I’m really worried about my boyfriend Abel aguliar.. thanks

        • Rose says:

I have not found any way to track them when they are going from a county jail to a county jail. Do you know what county he is being transferred to? If so you could try calling that jail. Im sorry Im not much help.

          • Rose says:

I did find MN Dept of Corrections and he is not listed there. But wouldnt be if not in prison. I tried the Polk County Jail and there isnt a list of inmates available on line. Sorry I couldnt find anything to help you. Praying all is well and you hear something soon.

          • liz lichtenberger says:

Thanks so much he is being transferred to Harris county jail and I have called everywhere and everyone and nothing I just want to know if he is ok or where he is . I hope to hear from him soon I go back home to MN. On Monday and I’m 7 months pregnant I just want to hear something before I leave.

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Liz, glad Rose could help you look. You mentioned Harris County Jail but he does not show on the roster there. What makes you feel he was taken there? Aguliar, like you spelled it, is not a common name. You didn’t mean Aguilar? I don’t find either name with first name Abel but just to make sure you are searching the right name.

          • liz lichtenberger says:

Yes well the way u really spell it is aguilar but aguliar is how they spell it in the system he has a warrant in Houston tx and he will be sent to the Harris county jail I have a lawyer for him already I just haven’t heard anything from him its going on 9 days and still nothing I just want to know where he is or how long will it take for him to be in Harris county from Minnesota

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Liz, yes I would have expected him to show up in Harris County by now too. I don’t know much about the Harris County system but I suspect he is already there, and it’s such a big county facility that they just haven’t gotten their records updated yet, or maybe have him in lockdown for a couple days so he can’t call or write. I;m hoping you hear he is there at Harris County in the next day or so. Keep us posted. ~ Magnum

        • Anonymous says:

If he has been to prison before then no he doesn’t have to go down and actually touch prison ground that cuz he already has a TV CJ’s number so he can be released right from the county jail
If he has never been to prison you might want to get on the horn you might have other cases still pending if that is the case he’s waiting for a blue warrant

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Diane, Refugio Delgado does not show up in the TDC system at this time. Are you sure he is there? If he just got transferred from county jail it can take a couple days for him to show up in the TDC system. Peace ~ Magnum

    • anita says:

Is ur brother in law in tdc or federal

  102. Sharn says:

Hello , please can you help me, I’ve been trying to find Angela Kaye Valka , d.o.b – 28th November 1983 . Please can you find her . Thank you

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Sharn, Angela Valka is not showing in the system. Did she just go to TDC? If she just was transferred from county it can take a couple days to show up. Are you sure she is there? This will only show TDC inmates, not those in county jail lockups or in Federal. Peace ~ Magnum

  103. Amy Maldonado says:

My husband is in ISF in harris county but is not showing in the.tdcj offender search. Also i need to set up a phone acct. through ISF. I need the number to call. I know its a different acct through ISF than tdcj. Can I please get help!

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Amy, the phone number for ISF in Harris County is (713) 223-0601. But that is the number to the unit, I do not know what number you need to set up phone service or if it is different than for the other TDC units. I never had phone service. In my opinion phone service is a rip off and your better off writing letters. But that is just me. Maybe if you call the unit they can help you out with some info. Peace ~ Magnum

  104. pearla sanchez says:

Can you help me locate my husband who caught chain a few days ago from Tom green county jail located in San angelo, tx with TDC his name is christopher nathan sanchez age 23 d.o.b 05/30/1992? Thank you!!

    • pearla sanchez says:

Can anyone help me out with answers to finding out which TDCJ unit my husband has been taken to please??…

      • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Pearla. If he just caught chain it takes a couple days to show up in the system. Once he does, the unit he is at will be listed in the inmate locator on this page. If you click on the unit name, it takes you to a page showing all the units and the address for each one. If you try jpay.com sometimes people show up faster there for some reason. If you’re having trouble with it, send me his name and date of birth and I will try to help you. Peace ~ Magnum

        • pearla sanchez says:

You’re a true lifesaver for those of us who don’t have none else to turn to with these questions and for help locating family you don’t get thanked enough!! So here’s my husband’s info…Christopher Nathan Sanchez age:23 DOB: 05/30/1992…if you could check into locating him I’d really appreciate it! Thanks a bunch

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Pearla, well Christopher has shown up in the TDC system now. He is at Middleton. His TDC number is #02005338. Put this next to his name when you write him. You can write him at
            Middleton Unit
            13055 FM 3522
            Abilene, TX 79601
By the way, I checked JPay.com and they changed their site. Now you cannot find someone on their site without knowing either their Unit or TDC number so I was telling you wrong. Glad he has shown up. Peace ~ Magnum

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Pearla, your husband isn’t showing up yet, it takes a couple days when they catch chain to appear in the system. I have found that sometimes Jpay.com, the site for sending money, finds them quicker than the TDC locator does, you might check that out. Meanwhile, don’t worry, in another day or so he will show up. Peace ~ Magnum

  105. Rose says:

When my son first got to Rudd he saw Re-entry…then as you know parole was denied to prd 12/14 and he is in parole review again right now…he got a letter today telling him he has an appointment with Re-entry Monday…of course the stories flow and I know there isnt set rules you can follow because everyone is different and you hear different things. But a guy that got a serve all to prd with his prd being in Nov saw Re-entry and they told him he had an F51 and he is going home next month…Im trying to find out all options about what this means and NOT get my hopes up…anyone know anything?

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Rose, what you said – don’t get your hopes up – that’s a good way to play it — but I’m pretty sure you are getting your hopes up right about now. I tried to use the attitude “hope for the best, expect the worst.” You plain don’t know with TDC. I don’t think there is a formula you can use to figure out the odds. I’d put money on your son coming home soon, but not all I had. You ought to try again to get onto prisontalk.com, it has a lot of info. The jpay.com forum is small compared to it. Try using a different browser or something? I’m hoping you and your son get some good news from this, keep me posted. Peace ~ Magnum

      • Rose says:

this time at re-entry they took his picture, they didnt the first time…I just dont know. Im tired, emotionally and mentally as is he. This latest bout with the unfairness and bs that goes on in there has us worn. Just praying he is home soon and we can get past this mess.

Can you help find where aaron rosales is he, left county on the 30th but i cant find where he was transfered his dob is 06/19/1996
    Contact me at ldbr30@gmail.com

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Tina, Aaron Rosales is in Middleton Unit. You can write to him at:
      Middleton Unit
      13055 FM 3522
      Abilene, TX 79601
Include his TDC number next to his name. It is #02003264. Middleton is a transfer unit so after awhile he will likely be moved elsewhere. Peace ~ Magnunm

  107. Megan says:

Hello, my husband is being transferred from county today to a tdc loacation. how long before i know where he is and be able to look him up in the system??

    • Rose says:

Hi there. My son was transferred to Middleton from county on 2/13 (Friday) and I believe he was in the system by Tuesday. As soon as he I saw his name and number I added him in jpay and put money on his books and sent an email. He said that first week when they went to store everyone told him he wouldnt be able to get anything, it was too soon. So when he got there and had money he felt like it was Christmas…so if you are able to put some money on his books as soon as you see your hubbys name by all means do it…money for commissary and letters keep them encouraged and not quite as alone feeling. Hang in there!

  108. Rose says:

Hi I am just wondering if there is someone that I can write to in support of my son seeking a line class change? He has been in TDCJ for six months now. Changes is not required for him to parole out but he is in the class anyway. Hes not sure who to ask about this so I told him I would see what I could find out.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Rose, I am not sure who would be the right person or office to contact about that, but line class is based on behavior while in prison. So I am not sure if writing to anyone would help. An inmate goes in as L1 and needs to stay out of trouble. If an inmate has disciplinary trouble their line class goes down. Sometimes this is tough because your whole pod might get in trouble about something that wasn’t really your doing. But of course the best bet is to stay out of trouble and do as much positive like taking classes, which it sounds like your son is. Here is a good thread that explains line class. By the way, if you are not familiar with http://www.prisontalk.com you might want to check it out, it’s a good resource for the family and friends of those incarcerated. Click on Forum and from there you will find a lot of information, there is a section for Texas and a section for parents of inmates.

  109. Brittany says:

I am just wondering something. My husband was in Bexar County jail finishing out his sentence from years ago and then they just transferred him today to TDC. How long will he be in there since he’s already finished his full sentence?

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Brittany, that sure doesn’t sound right. So, you are saying he had a parole violation or something and was being held in Bexar County and finished the sentence there? I do not have an answer for this situation. Has he shown up in the inmate locator yet? The only thing I can think of is it’s going to be a quick trip and he will be released shortly, but I really don’t know. Hope it works out quickly for y’all. Peace ~ Magnum

Can someone please help me find aaron rosales i dont know where hes serving his time now please email me at: ldbr30@gmail.com thank you!

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello, Aaron Rosales is not showing in the TDC system or in the Federal prison system. He could be in county jail, or in a city jail. If you are positive that he is incarcerated that would be a good start. If you know he was in TDC at one time, could it be possible he has been released now? Peace ~ Magnum

      • Anonymous says:

I have a question my brother just got sentenced to 12 years and i know he will be sent to TDC we don’t know which location yet, and i know it might be a stupid question but how bad is TDC? I’m just worried because he is diabetic and i know it’s not going to be a five star hotel or anything but just to get an idea. If you can tell me anything, that would be greatly appreciated.

        • Duff says:

TDCJ medical staff put there diabetics ahead of a lot of other offenders. He will recieve an small piece of paper called a (lay-in) that will tell him when he is scheduled to go to the infirmary for his treatment. But… If he dosent go to his medical lay-in then he could suffer disciplinary action. That and the nurses get pretty upset when they don’t show.
As for how TDCJ is… IT SUCKS! No A/C, hard beds, food is gross, it stinks, the guards are under paid and under appreciated so they suck, everything is unfair, ect… It’s Prison.

      • Anonymous says:

It says he was released from el paso annex but he was sentenced to tdc and state jail his dob is 06/19/1996

        • Texas Magnum says:

Anonymous, is this your diabetic brother you are asking about? If so, if he just caught chain to TDC it’s going to take a couple days for him to show up in the system. Just keep trying and he will show up. First you will probably see him in Garza West, but usually that is a temporary step and he will move on to another unit. As far as diabetic, Duff gave a good answer. Yeah TDC conditions suck overall. Just like Duff said, though, they will give him some treatment at the infirmary for his diabetes. For a diabetic, the poor quality of food can be a challenge. If your family can add money to his commissary so he can buy food like tuna packets for protein, that can help him, because they will load him up on a lot of carbs and high fat food. Also with enough funds he can buy a fan. If he gets motivated TDC is a good place to get fit, and that can be a good thing for a diabetic. A lot of it will depend on him and his attitude, I’m hoping he will be motivated to make the most of his time inside. Peace ~ Magnum

  113. Teresa says:

Good evening Texas Magnum. I posted a couple of weeks ago about my friend that we hadn’t heard from in a while. We received a letter & he’s ok. He’s been going through a bit of depression. His family abandoned him & his baby mama/wife hooked up with one of his former friends. With the exception of my family nobody writes or sends him money. He had to borrow a paper & pencil from his bunkmate because he didn’t have any money to purchase those things. I don’t know how anyone could dismiss a family member/husband like that. He made a mistake but he’s still a human being with feelings. Anyone reading this, please keep in touch with loved ones. Our correspondence gives them hope, encouragement and let’s them know they’re loved. Texas Magnum thanks for your help & all you do. Keep it up! Peace & blessings.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Teresa, I am glad you got word from your friend. Sounds like he can really use your friendship right about now. You are right about the importance of keeping in touch with those that are incarcerated. It might seem a small thing and there are a lot of reasons folks put off writing letters. They think they don’t have much news worth writing about, or they want the letter to be written perfectly or on nice paper or something like that. Believe me, just getting a letter with no news or written on old, lined notebook paper is awesome when you are incarcerated. I was happy to hear what my sister cooked for dinner or what my mom was watching on television, it just made me feel not so alone and like I still had some sort of family caring about me, and I would imagine the smells of that meal or think about just the pleasure of sitting on a couch and watching a show without 100 yelling, loud men all around me and somehow things were better for a minute. (The noise is a crappy part of prison that a lot of people don’t ever think about.) Anyway, I appreciate you updating us, glad to hear your friend got in touch. Hope to hear from you again as you go through this journey with your friend. I can guarantee you and your family are helping him a lot with your correspondence. Peace ~ Magnum

        • Texas Magnum says:

I will reply by email but also here on the site in case anyone else is curious about the answer. I do not see that Mountain View is on lockdown, but there are other reasons you might not hear from someone for awhile, including that they are out of postage or something simple like that. If you are dealing with someone in prison I suggest you visit the site http://www.prisontalk.com. It’s a great resource. Here is a link for a thread on that site that is specifically for lockdown status in Texas Prisons >> http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=590. Good luck to you and hope you hear from your friend soon. Peace ~ Magnum

Hi can someone help me find my friend please , I don’t know which jail she’s in

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Sharn, I would need to know his information to help. If he was recently detained, you can start by contacting the local city or county jails where he was detained at. If you reply with some more details like his name and date of birth and where he was when arrested I will try to help you. ~ Magnum

  114. sarah says:

Can someone please tell me how I can write someone. What all do I need to write him a letter??

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Sarah, you need to have your friend’s full name, and it is helpful to have their date of birth. Put their last name and first name in the TDC Inmate Locator found on the top of this page and if you get multiple results, then look to the right at the date of birth to narrow it down to the person you are looking for. Hope this info helps you. Peace ~ Magnum

  115. Ebony Taylor says:

My name is Ebony Taylor the father of my children is Darwin Gerod Grant It says he can’t have visits and I am wondering why.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Ebony, an inmate is usually denied visitation for disciplinary reasons. This can range from the entire unit or pod going on lockdown to something like being caught with something against the rules, like prison-made tattoo equipment for example. If there is trouble in the pod they usually put the entire pod on lock down. That means no rec time, sack lunches in the cell instead of going to the cafeteria, and no visits or any other priveleges. Chances are it’s something like this and soon he will be allowed visitors again. Peace ~ Magnum

    • Anonymous says:

Hi, my brother’s name is Jason Keith. tdc number is 1942975..he’s at the Byrd unit I’m Huntsville. He just got transfered there from gurney unit. Before they transfered him he wrote me a letter saying parole board put him in cognitive intervention class but then a few days later transfered him to Byrd unit. He had a year set off for parole last October so he will be eligible against this October to make parole. Why was he transfered and what does that class he is taking mean?

      • Texas Magnum says:

Hi there, the class your brother got put into is probably what’s called “Changes” class. It’s purpose is to teach life skills to help your brother learn how to better handle situations, anger and other challenges, and a lot of times completing this class is a prerequisite for parole. So, it’s a good sign as it indicates he could get parole at the next time he is up for it but it doesn’t guarantee it. It just means he is moving in the right direction as far as completing the requirements for parole. As far as being transferred, TDC moves folks around sometimes for no apparent reason. It happened to me. Also sometimes a person is in a class like Changes and they get moved and then they will end up in another class or program. Transfers like this make family and friends on the outside stress out a little and want answers, but remember in TDC there isn’t necessarily a good reason for the things that happen. Peace ~ Magnum

  116. Steven Blevins says:

Hello I was told that my father had passed away in TDCJ. I did an offender search to find him listed at the Neal unit. Is there anyway he would still be listed if he is deceased? His name and TDCJ# are 01593271. BLEVINS,JAMES CLAYTHAN.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Steven, well this is a new one for me. I do not want to steer you wrong on such a thing, but it seems unlikely to me that a person would still show in the TDC system if they had in fact deceased. I suppose if it was just a matter of a few days it could happen, but it seems that pretty quickly the TDC system would be updated. I am not sure who told you that they were deceased, but I think you need to get more information about this. Good luck to you, and peace ~ Magnum

Hi Bianca, there is not a Roderick Scruggs in the TDC system at this time. There is a Randall Scruggs. Could this be the person you are looking for? Their birthdate is 1987-06-02. They are currently at the Beto Unit.

    • rharnishfeger says:

that should be easy to find out where he is at if you have a computer all you need is his first name and last name it should tell where he is incarcerated and for what period of time Bianca

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Bianca, I imagine by now you have located your husband, but in case you haven’t, you are right he is at the Johnston unit. You will want to include his TDC number on the envelope next to his name. His TDC number is 01998001 You can write to him at:

  121. dulce says:

Im trying to look for Jonathan Lucero DOB 4/4/81

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Dulce, I do not find Jonathan Lucero in the TDC system. Are you sure he is in TDC and not in county jail?

    • Garza says:

My son just signed for 15 yrs on an F1 aggrivated robbery charge. He has been in Montgomry County Jail for about 10 months of this past year. March of 2015, he was convicted and charged. My sons name is Trevor Jerome Garza, Im his father Rudy Jerome Garza.

      • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Garza, Sorry to hear about your son, on an aggravated charge he has awhile inside. I want to suggest you check out the http://www.prisontalk.com forum. Just go to the site, click on forum, then find the section on Parents of Children in Prison. I know it helped my family a lot, my mom told me there were some cool folks, and as a matter of fact, a couple reached out to me personally and wrote to me while I was inside. They even sent me cards and really reached out. It’s a great place to get all the information you need, and to just share your experience and your son’s. The thing I can tell you is to stay in touch with him and to keep in touch with letters and visits, if possible. I will be hoping to hear back from you as your son and your family go through this time. Meanwhile – take care and peace ~ Magnum

  122. Lorena says:

Im looking for Rogelio Elizondo Estrada

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Lorena, Rogelio is not showing up under Rogelio Elizondo or Rogelio Estrada. Did he just get transferred to TDC? Maybe he is in county jail? When someone is just transferred from county to TDC it takes a couple days to show up. Try again in a day or so.

  123. mariana says:

I am trying to find my husband juan antonio jimenez he was transfer to Holladay prison.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Mariana, I do not find your husband in the system. If he was just transferred from county, it can take a couple days to show up. You might try again in a day or so. Peace ~ Magnum

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Mayra, your sister is in the Crain Unit. When you write to her you need to include the TDC number. Her TDC number is 01076599. You can write to her at
      TDC Crain Unit
      1401 State School Road
      Gatesville, TX 76599-2999

  126. Teresa says:

Hello! I came across your site while looking for info regarding a family friend. I have to say while I don’t know you, I have a sincere & deep respect for you, your journey & all the encouragement you provide. My father was incarcerated for a good portion of my life & the entire family “did time” with him. It’s hard on everyone involved not to mention all the social stigma that comes with the words “felon” or “convict”. Your page & all your words/actions bring people help & hope. Thank you for that. I did have a question in regards to finding out info on a family friend. We have been corresponding regularly then about a month ago nothing. We continue to write & send funds for commissary but we haven’t heard anything from him & we’re extremely worried. We called the current facility & got told “he aiight”. Is there any way we could find out if he’s in lockdown or the infirmary? We just want to know that he’s ok. Thanks for any help.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Teresa, thanks for the kind words, I appreciate that. I know what you mean about the whole family doing time with you. For your friend, did you locate him on the TDC inmate locator? If he is in agg seg usually it will show he is not eligible for visitation. If he is sick or hurt to the degree he is at a hospital somewhere it will also give a message that he is temporarily at another site. Unfortunately, as you probably already know, the prison is not usually too helpful with information in these cases. If time keeps going by and you don’t hear anything, you could try reaching the chaplain at the unit he is at. They are tough to reach too, but if you get them on the line they can be a bit more helpful. I hope you get word from him soon, I know that is hard not hearing. Do you happen to know his bunkmate’s name and TDC number? You can try writing to them if he is friendly with them, to set your mind at ease.
Good luck to you, write back and let us know when you get in touch with your friend. Peace ~ Magnum

  127. JD Watts says:

Hello, I am attempting to locate James Peyton Busbee Jr, who was transferred out of the Victoria County Jail and into the Federal system. He does not appear in the Inmate Search, and while I am getting his SID number I do not have it at the moment and would appreciate any assistance you could offer. Thanks, JDW

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey JD, there is not a James Peyton Busbee currently listed in the Federal system. When someone is transferred, it takes a couple days for them to show up in the new system. I think if you wait a few days they may show up. I wanted to mention, there is a James Merrill Busbee mentioned, who is not currently in federal custody but at one time was. They are listed as a white male, 52 years old. Not sure if this is possibly the person you are looking for and you had the middle name mixed up? Anyway, you can check Federal Inmates at this link >> http://www.bop.gov/inmateloc/. Keep an eye on it and your friend ought to show up if he was recently transferred.

      • analisa says:

My husband Sergio I. Sierra is in gurney unit. His prohected sentence is 9/29/2017 is he gonna have to do two years then? Before he was transferred, and before going to mcclennan county jail he went to court 4/2/2015and was told he was only going to do 3 or 5months, and would be out on parole so I dont understand why he is going to do two years. Can you please help me understan what’s going on

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Analisa, in general I have found the projected release date to be a good indicator. When I went in, my lawyer told me I would be out in a couple months… which was not true. My experience has told me that lawyers will tell you almost anything and also do not necessarily understand what going to prison is all about. All I can tell you is settle in for awhile, keep in touch with Sergio with letters and visits if it’s possible for you. I would bet he makes parole well before his 2 years is up if he keeps things cool inside. So just try to be patient, and the time will go by. Peace ~ Magnum

        • Texas Magnum says:

Analisa I took a look at your husband’s sentence and I see his sentence is for 7 years total, so it is probably pretty realistic he will be there for about 2 years. I am sorry, I hadn’t looked at the details last night and thought that his entire sentence was 2 years. The good news is he is already eligible for parole and you never know, he might be out much sooner than expected.

    • B Brown says:

do you have his tdcj number this is not the sid number, it is the number that thay give them when theyput them in the Federal system. if you have that number put it where it says tdcj number, it should locate him.

  128. Briana says:

Hi, my husband signed for 3 years tdc.. He just got transferred but, I can’t find him any where in the system.. Also how much of the 3 years would he have to complete? And does the 4 1/2 months from county go with him to tdc? His name is Freddy Rasalio Umanzor.. If u can help find him that would be great..

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Briana, your husband is at Holliday Unit. That is a transfer unit so in awhile he will be relocated to another unit, where he will likely stay for the duration of his sentence. His TDC number is 01995924 and this number must be included next to his name on envelopes when you write him. If you plan to use regular mail the address at Holliday is:
      TDC Holliday Unit
      295 I.H. 45 North
      Huntsville, TX 77320-8443
Also, you might check into jpay.com. There you can sign up and send him funds that way, and also send him letters via email. He cannot answer you by email, but they will print out your mail and deliver it to him.
In answer to your questions, yes, the 4 1/2 months he spent in county will count towards his sentence. He shows as already eligible for parole, but his projected release date is showing as May of 2016. In my experience this will be about right, give or take a month or so.
Hope this information helps. Peace ~ Magnum

      • Carolyn Dillon says:

Can you please help me locate my husband. He left Dallas County, Lew Sterret yesterday and I can’t find him anywhere. His name is Dewayne H. Dillon. Thanking you in advance.

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Carolyn, when someone is transferred from county to TDC, it takes a day or two for them to show up in TDC’s system. Sometimes a person will show up on the JPay.com site before they even show up on TDC’s search. Not sure if you have heard of JPay.com, it is a site where you can send an inmate money, you might want to check it out. At any rate, give it another day or so and your husband will show up in the TDC Inmate Locator too. Peace ~ Magnum

  129. Kamile Ramos says:

Can you help me fiqure out when my uncle will be able to get out for parole, his name is Raul Ramos and hes 40 years old and hes in for murder

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Kamile, there are several Raul Ramos in the TDC system, but the one that appears to be your uncle based on what you wrote is at Ferguson Unit. The address at Ferguson is:
      TDC Ferguson Unit
      12120 Savage Drive
      Midway, TX 75852-3654
His TDC Number is 00712537, if you write to him be sure to include it on the envelope.
Looks like he will become eligible to go before the parole board in 2025, but his sentence is for much longer than that. It’s very hard to say when he will actually be released on parole because that is based on many factors including how he comports himself while he is incarcerated. He has served 20 years already, so I am pretty sure he has already made his choices about things like what group he has affiliated himself with inside, etc. Hopefully he is making good choices and does his best to stay out of trouble and continue to work on himself as a person so when he gets out he will be ready to face the world. The best thing to do at this point is to just hang tight and write to him when you can, it means a lot to an inmate to hear from family. Peace to you and your family ~ Magnum

      • Sway says:

Hi, my name’s Sway and I came across your website today while attempting to find a friend who is in custody. I think your work on here is incredible. The situation is extremely complex and I do not want to put my friend’s business out there like that. I would like everything to be said in confidentiality. I really, really, REALLY need help finding him. Is there any other way I can contact you, preferably via email, besides on here? It would mean a lot if you could help me with this.

  130. Kamile Ramos says:

Im looking for my cousin Refugio Martinez and his nickname is “Cuco” some says its his middle name but i dont know . I dont know his birthday but hes probably around his mid or late 30’s . I really need to find him asap. I havnt spoken to him in a year and his son who is also my cousin would really love to here from him . please help if possible .

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Kamile, your cousin is at Hodges Unit. Looks like his full name is Refugio Coronel Martinez and his birthdate is 12-23-1979. Does that seem right? That would make him 35. You can write to him there, you need to include his TDC number next to his name on the envelope. Refugio’s TDC Number is 01902888. Here is the address at Hodge Unit:
      TDC Hodge Unit
      P.O. Box 999
      Rusk, TX 75785
Looks like his projected release date is set as Oct 2016, and that is usually a pretty good guideline. Best of luck to you, your cousin and his son. Peace ~ Magnum

  131. Jenn says:

I m looking for a Joshua Sean Resnick. Birth date is 11/13/81. I have no idea what prison he is in. I know he got sent to state. Other than that no idea.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Jenn, I do not find Joshua Sean Resnick in the TDC database. If he just got transferred from county to state, it can take a couple days to show up. You can keep checking and he should show up soon. Peace ~ Magnum

  132. Jansi says:

Hi I’m kind of confuse may be you can help me out but my husband has been sentenced for 35 yrs and he has 4 cases and I see that eachother case is for 5 years will he be doing the 5 year sentence or the 35? we are doing and appeal he has an a court pointer appeal how lucky do you think we will get on the appeal you think we will be able to give all the time back or at least have of it do you recommend that I get an appeal lawyer? His tdcj #01988681

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Jansi, the other charges that he has 5 years each for will usually be served concurrently with the longer sentence, so basically it’s like he is serving all the sentences at once, for the first five years. I checked his case and his longer sentence is 30 years, not 35. His charges are what are called an aggravated felony, meaning it was done with a gun or with the intent to cause violence. These sorts of sentence usually requires that half the time be served before the inmate is eligible for parole, so he will need to serve about 15 years before he is eligible for parole.

Regarding an appeal lawyer, that I do not know because I don’t know if there are grounds for an appeal. If he was charged or sentenced unfairly, or if the trial wasn’t done fairly, etc. maybe there is a chance, but appeals are not all that easy, once you are locked up, the state really has the power in the situation. Good luck and peace to you and your husband ~ Magnum

  133. M says:

    Hello,
I have an uncle I would like to write. I know his full name, TDCJ/SID Number, etc, but i’m not sure how the process of writing him actually works. I was wondering do I have to go through any specific steps of writing him or can I just send him a letter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi M, you can just send a letter. You need to include his Name, and TDCJ number on the first line of the envelope, then the Prison and it’s address. If you don’t know the address of the unit he is at, you can find it here at the TDC Unit Directory: http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/unit_directory/index.htmlYou have to have a return address on the envelope too, or they won’t deliver it. All mail that is sent in or out of a prison is opened and read before it is delivered to an inmate, so be aware that you should be careful to not discuss anything of a violent or illegal nature ever, you could get your uncle in trouble, they take it pretty seriously. You cannot include money in the envelope or anything besides photos. When I was incarcerated, receiving photos of almost anything was awesome. Of my family, my dog, a flower, a nice scene… its all contact to the outside world and can really be a mental break from the prison environment so if you have some to include it’s always nice to throw in the envelope. Peace ~ Donna

  134. Joanna says:

I’m looking for a friends family his name is Pedro Baltazar Paniagua they try to look on the internet but they don’t find nothing he is arrested on Texas but they don’t know can you please help me to help them. He date of birth is 11-22-1982 and his pin is L88744379 and he call from that number 713-489-7846. Thank you!!

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Joanna, If Pedro was recently detained, he is probably in a city or county jail waiting to have a hearing on charges. The state’s prisons are separate from city or county jails, and to find him you need to figure out what county or city he was in when he was arrested. Do you have an idea about that? The phone number you are getting calls from is a company named Global Tel Link and they provide phone service to jails and prisons all over the country, so we cannot figure it out from the number. Do you know what part of Texas he was in? That is the starting point for tracking him down. ~ Magnum

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Laura, your father was detained on May 12th and is currently at Parmer County Jail. You can write him at:
      (Inmate’s full name)
      Parmer County Jail
      P.O. Box 860
      Farwell, Texas 79325
Hope this information helps you out. Good luck and peace to you ~ Magnum

  136. whitney says:

In trying to search for someone that was transferred yesterday afternoon how long will it take to show up

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Whitney, it can take a couple days for them to show up in the TDC system. I have found that sometimes JPay.com will show where an inmate is even before the TDC system does. If you are not familiar with them, check out their website. It is a service to send money or send mail to inmates electronically. My family found it helpful. I hope you find the person you are looking for soon – they will show up. Peace ~ Magnum

  137. Mandy says:

How do you fight a parole eligibility?

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Mandy, I think what you are asking is if you can help prevent someone from being given parole. Parole eligibility is figured by a formula based on time served, the nature and class of the crime, and good time accrued. It is also affected by negatively disciplinary action or time in ag-seg for misbehavior. So, you cannot yourself affect when someone is ELIGIBLE for parole, but you can affect if they are granted parole. Family and friends of an inmate try to positively affect the outcome of a parole hearing with a support packet that gives the parole board an idea if the inmate will have a good support system, a place to live, and a job if they are let out on parole. On the other hand, the Victim Services Division of TDCJ is who looks at protest letters and other information from crime victims and concerned citizens. When you write to them you have to include the TDC number of the inmate in your correspondence. Click here to learn more about TDCJ Victims Services.
I hope this information helps out. Peace ~ Magnum

  138. Mandy says:

I’m trying to figure out how to fight a parole eligibility .

  139. Cindy says:

Hi, Am I allowed to write to Elmer Wayne Henley, and is it possible to get his address in order to write to him?
    Thank you,

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Cindy, yes, you should be able to write to Elmer. He is at the Michael Unit. When you write, you need to include Elmer’s TDC number on the envelope. So, write his name, then his TDC number which is 00241618. And then the address, which is:
      TDC Michael Unit
      2664 FM 2054
      Tennessee Colony, TX 75886

Also, if you prefer, check out JPay.com, they have a way to write to inmates via email. You have to set up an account with his name and TDC number. And what they do is the prison has someone that receives all the emails and prints them out and delivers them to the various inmates along with their regular mail.

All mail – regular mail and email – will be opened and read by prison officials before it is delivered so keep in mind whatever you write will be read by other people.

      Peace ~ Magnum

  140. Adriana Espinoza says:

Im trying to find out what facility my brother is at. His name is Shane Espinoza hiz tdcj number is 01965576. I just want to know where I can write him. His family loves and misses him.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Adriana, the TDC locator shows your brother on temporary release. This can mean a couple of things. Sometimes an inmate is sent to a county jail somewhere to face other pending charges he might have against him. Or sometimes it is a medical release of he is having a medical problem. It’s hard to know exactly what’s going on without more details. If you check back in another couple days the TDC locator may show an update. Hang in there.

      • Adriana Espinoza says:

It’s been saying this for a while now.

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Adriana, How long is “a while” that it has shown this? What unit was he last at? Have you tried calling the prison where you last knew he was? It can be very frustrating to get through to anyone helpful at the prison, but, perhaps if you get to the right person, they can tell you something about where he is if you are persistent. It can take some patience. I would see if there is a prison chaplain you could ask to talk to, they can be more helpful than some others there. Do you happen to know his bunkmates name and TDC number? I always felt it was good to have someone inside have my family’s address, and likewise, have my family have the info for my bunkmate or a buddy, so they could keep in touch in case something like this happened, and they didn’t know where I was.

I noticed that he was sentenced to 180 days in early February on charges in Coryell County. I checked the Coryell County Jail, where those last charges were, just in case he was still over there from that February sentencing, but he is not there.

The prison system just doesn’t put any effort into keeping family members informed. I know you and your family must be worried and frustrated by this. Keep the faith, and stay positive until you find out what’s going on. And, let us know when you find him, I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts.

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Adriana, I also found this number you might try: (936) 295-6371, or (800) 535-0283. You will have to supply your brother’s info including TDC number. They might not be any more helpful than the online locator, but it’s worth a try.

  141. Sehrish says:

Hello, I have been trying to obtain information for my uncle who is in Texas prison. I would be grateful if you could help me locate any information about his case and his current situation. Many thanks for your help.
    Kindest regards

    • Sehrish says:

I would really appreciate your reply, my uncle’s ID is 00686143.

      • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Serrish, I am sorry to hear about your uncle. I see that he is at Robertson Unit over in Abilene, and that he has a life sentence, I am sure that has been hard on your family. But I do see that he can appear before parole in 2023 – that is something to look forward to. Meanwhile, I always feel the best thing you can do to help an inmate is to keep in communication. Send him letters and cards, I am sure he appreciates hearing from you. I always looked forward to receiving mail. I do not have any details about his case, I tried finding any more information about him, but didn’t come up with anything. Peace to you, your family and your uncle.

        • Sehrish says:

Hello, thank you ever so much for taking the time out for me to reply back and for your help. I really appreciate it.
          God Bless you

It’s for her safety and mine. Please help. His tdcj # is 01973733 his sid# is 05305929 anything else you need please ask but I need to know as soon as possible. Thank you.

          • Megan says:

I’d also like to add his name is Scott M. Wessel birthday is 01-25-1968. I’m not really sure what else to give you. Sorry. What is a projected release date? Is that when he’ll get out? I just need to know how much time I have to get my daughter somewhere he can’t find her. He’s already tried to kill both of us once.

          • Megan says:

I’d also like to add his tdcj #: 01973733 name: scott m. Wessel bday is 01-25-1968. I’m not sure what else to give. Is projected release date the day he’ll get out? I just need to know so I can keep my daughter safe. He’s already tried to kill her once and me twice. Please help.

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Megan, so what you are seeing on his record is “temporary release”. This can be for a couple reasons. One – he was going to be released from prison soon but faced some outstanding charges somewhere, in which case they send him to that county to face those charges. Depending on the outcome, he could receive an addition to his sentence from that. Another reason for temporary release is he needed medical attention beyond what the prison medical staff can give him. That is for pretty serious injuries or illness or maybe broken bones because they don’t send you to the hospital for small stuff. The last and least likely reason is to be released temporarily for a funeral of a close family member. This is rare, and usually only granted if someone has a great record in prison, and isn’t a troublemaker of any sort, no gang affiliation, and stuff like that. Like I said, it’s a possibility, but it’s RARE that this happens.

His projected release date shows December of this year. That is a “good guess” of when they would probably release him and not a sure thing at all. I will tell you, as a victim, you are entitled to write to the parole board and let them know anything you want about your concerns about him getting parole. You can let them know if you think he is not reformed, or is a danger, or anything like that. Here is a link to a page on the TDC website that explains what you can do to submit a protest of him getting parole >> http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/divisions/vs/victim_parole.html. Also, as a victim, you can register with the Victim’s Services Division of TDC. When you register they will let you know when he is due to be released or other information like that. You can learn about that at this link >> http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/divisions/vs/index.html#notification.

Bottom line, you and your daughter do have rights to protect yourselves but I also believe you shouldn’t leave it all up to the state because there are just too many people coming and going in the criminal justice system for you to count on them focusing on your situation. So that means even if you go through all the right steps you still need to ultimately rely on yourself to find a safe environment for you and your daughter. I hope you can find some folks to help you get that part all figured out, whether it’s your family and friends or even check into some women’s shelters for advise. They might be able to give you some good advice. Take care, and keep in touch so we know how you’re doing. Peace to you and your daughter ~ Magnum

  142. belinda edwards says:

Im looking for joe hardeman he has been approved for parole but having a hard time getting his release date

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Belinda. TDC has a phone line to check release information. The number is (512) 406‑5202. You will have to have Joe’s TDCJ or SID number, or his date of birth. The number can be hard to get through to, but after a few tries you WILL get through. Sometimes they tell you “no relase date yet” so then you call the next day, and the next… finally, when you are just about out of patience, you will get the good news that his release date is set. You can find out where he will be released from and if it’s possible, you can make arrangements to go pick him up. If you cannot do that, they will put him on a bus to the place he is paroling to. Good luck to you and Joe! I know he is so excited to walk out those doors.

      • Megan says:

Thanks for your help on that and the links you sent me! I can’t thank you enough and of course i’ll keep you posted. Now that my souls a little more calm I can focus on everything else I’ve already got her somewhere but I know when he gets out he’ll find us. He’s already having somebody stalk my Facebook page amongst other things. So I just gotta keep on keeping on I suppose until everything gets settled. He’s also got time to serve in illinois for stealing some guns up there and bringing them here to Texas to try and get after me and my girl. Hopefully that’s a good long time there too.

  143. Rachel says:

Hi, I’m looking for my cousin Rene Escalante to write to him but I don’t have an address to do so, all i know he’s incarcerated somewhere here in Texas, How can I obtain such info?! T.I.A

    • Texas Magnum says:

Your cousin shows a projected release date in 2033. He could get out sooner, he is eligible to be reviewed for parole in September of this year. It will be helpful if you and your family prepare a parole packet for the parole board to review before he goes. A packet should include information about where he will live, what sort of support your family can give him, and things like that. Good luck to you.

  144. monce says:

Hi. I have been searching my brother up an nothing shows up county jail told me to search in here but nothing comes up .his name is Luis felipe coronado. Anything is helpful thanks in advance.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Monce, there are 3 Luis Coronado’s in the TDC system. Use his last name and first name. Could he be the one named Luis Coronado IV?

  145. wendi cantrell says:

I am teddy l cantrell Jr’s ex wife. Is there anyways to find out if he is gettin out in 2016 or sooner which I hope not. he has charges in arkansas for failure to pay child support. I’m going to court waiting on a summons for review of custody and hope he is still in on court date. Not like it’d really matter but just wondering because of projected release date.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Wendi, there isn’t a way to know, but usually the projected release date is fairly accurate, as a guideline.

  146. I have a question about my husband Michael John

  147. Nicole says:

  149. nani Jacqueline says:

how do i get the SID#?

    • Texas Magnum says:

If you enter the inmates first and last name that is all that is required to do a search. When you get the result, click on their name and a screen will open showing all the details including the TDC# and the SID#. Good luck to you.

  150. Emily says:

I’m so worried I don’t know where they send my daughter. She’s being punish for something she didn’t do.Tha news ppl.made her look like she’s a bad mother. They don’t know tha truth. I LOVE U Emily Ann Sanford hope to God ur doing ok.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello, your daughter has been transferred to Plane State Jail. That is northwest of Houston on the way to Beaumont. There are only female inmates there. I had a female friend who spent some time at Plane and she did OK. It’s a State Jail and also a transfer unit and I have a feeling that Emily will be moved again shortly. She may be in Plane for just a month or two while they figure out what they think the best unit for her to be in.
An important thing for you to note down now is Emily’s TDC number. That will be used to ID her throughout her period of incarceration. Her number is TDC# 01981642.

You can write to her using this address:
      Emily Sanford TDC# 01981642
      Plane State Jail
      904 FM 686
      Dayton, TX 77535

Because Emily is going to be gone for awhile, I have a suggestion for you. If you have not already visited the website http://www.prisontalk.com, I would like to suggest you do. It’s free. Once you get there go to the forum and find the section called “Parents with children in prison”. Here is the direct link: http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=75. I think you will find this forum to have a lot of very friendly and helpful folks in the same position as you. I know having an incarcerated child can be a real worry and it’s hard to find understanding people to talk about things and share worries with, but the people on prisontalk.com are just great. Best of luck to you and your daughter. Try not to worry, she will find her way and get herself situated and the time will go by. Take care, and peace to you ~ Magnum

  151. Patricia Palmer says:

Can you please tell me when Martin R. Aguirre #01832294 is up for parole?
    Thank you

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Patricia, you may already have figured this out by now, but your inmate is currently listed as temporarily released. Since his parole eligibility was in January, there are a couple possibilities what this could mean. One that happens pretty often is that sometimes a person has a pending charge from another county when they are incarcerated. When it is time for them to be released, they have to first be transported to the county where they have a charge pending and face that charge. Could that be a possibility in your inmate’s situation? Another situation where a person can be listed as temporarily released is if they need medical care that requires a trip out of the prison. I hope by the time you read this you have already figured out what’s up. Much peace to you and yours.

  152. lesly says:

if my dad is realsed on march 6th whom may I contact to find out info …

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Lesly, you ought to be able to call the hotline for this and get info. Normally the inmate will be provided money for a bus to the location that they have approved for parole, if they are to be on parole.

  153. Shanta says:

I’m looking for Lorenzo Wesley.. tdc #1813645
It keep saying no inmate found…

    • Texas Magnum says:

You are right, no inmate by that name comes up. Could they still be in County jail waiting for transfer or already released? Good luck in your search.

      • Shanta says:

He got transfer March 5, 2015 to R.L Roach unit…. How long do it take before they be in the system?

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Shanta, keep an eye on the locator to find him. It can take a couple days to show up. Also, if you set up an account at JPay.com, sometimes it actually shows in jpay quicker than in the TDC site. Weird, but it does. It can be difficult when you don’t know if they have arrived at their destination but just give it a couple days.

          • Leslie says:

The previous person asked the question I had and thank you for answering…..my next question is…..will their tdc # be the same as their original spn#?

          • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Leslie, I am not sure which of the prior questions you are referring to, and I also am not sure what an SPN# is… but for anyone you are trying to locate or write to, you would use the locator tool, and put their first and last name in, and hit search. Once the result comes up, click on their name, which will be hyperlinked. That opens up the details about them, including their TDC# and their SID#, which might be what you are referring to as SPN and which is not the same as the TDC#. Hope this info helps clear up your question. Peace ~ Magnum

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Shanta, I see that your inmate is now showing in the system. You are correct he is at Roach Unit. You can write to him at
      Lorenzo Wesley TDC# 01813645
      Roach Unit
      15845 FM 164

Good luck to you and your inmate ~ Magnum

  154. kathy says:

I’m curious on your take on getting parole on a life sentence.
His name is Bobby Reno Schneider TDC#01342554 at Allred Unit

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Kathy, I do not know too much about that, I am sorry. Probably your best bet might be to go to http://www.prisontalk.com and ask their opinion there. It is a great forum with information about almost everything about prison. There is probably someone there with more knowledge of this. Good luck to you.

  157. ptwj says:

i am looking for my cousin maurice c harold he is in his 30s and from grand prairie, tx. it keeps saying no results but i know he is in the system

    • Texas Magnum says:

I also do not find anyone by that name listed with TDC. Could he be in federal prison or maybe in a county jail? This locator only finds those in Texas state prison system, not county and not federal, even if that prison is located in Texas.

  158. Samantha says:

I’m trying to find my sons friend but we don’t remember his last name. his mothers name is Troy Bush whom is in the murray unit. my husband don’t want me to write to her so she doesn’t know our address. how do i get the answer from her. thanks, samantha

  160. Dez says:

How long until TDC posts new inmate numbers? My female friend caught chain recently and I’ve been looking her name up everyday since. Still nothing. I know she signed for SafP. Shouldn’t she have been issued a number by now?

    • Texas Magnum says:

I am sorry I was away from here for awhile, but I hope you have gotten information on your friend by now. Good luck to you and your friend.

  161. Tyranny says:

ok I talked to his PO and he said that he is in Plainview however Im still not finding him any where.

  162. Tyranny says:

I am wondering how long it takes for me to know which state jail he was sent to he was in county and was transferred today to serve 6 months in state jail. we are originally from Lubbock so he caught chain today and I was wondering how long will it be before I know where he was sent and if and when can I write him and go see him?

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Tyranny, if you check the TDC locator, he will show up within a couple days. he is probably already showing. Also, http://www.JPay.com which is a site you can use to send funds to your inmate, often shows up the person even before TDC updates their databases, so you might want to check that out too. Good luck.

      • Jessica says:

Hello..okay so I’m confused, my brother got arrested on June 09 2015 he was on a city jail and was told he was getting tranfer to a county jail..he called last night saying he was already getting transferred and that he was told that maybe he would be out by today but i haven’t known anything about him since then and he doesn’t appear on the city jail system nor the county system…what can i do? thanks!(:

        • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Jessica, Sometimes it takes a day or so for the records to update in the new place. It can be really frustrating to track someone down in these circumstances. Usually you can call the county jail and ask if he is being held there. It might be the most direct. They can tell you if he is there, and possibly if he was released already. Depends on how they keep their records. Good luck to you. I imagine you will be hearing from him soon. ~ Magnum

I havent heard from him or anything. And I was hoping if its possible if you can help me by telling me what his I.D number is so I can write to him. Please I’m begging. He’s my fiance.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Vanessa, there isn’t a good way to find your fiance in county jail without knowing what county he is in. Do you have any idea what city or town he was in when he was detained? You need to check with the county where he was arrested to find out where he is. Good luck to you, I hope you find him soon. I bet he will send you a letter himself pretty soon.

  169. Mark Ryan says:

Hello again T-Mag, I see you are a very busy man but your help is so appreciated by all! I’m in need of your help, IF possible. First, are you only able to locate Prison inmates bcuz the person I’m looking for is for sure in a county jail. I’m going to give as much info as I have and hope for some Magnum magic. A friend of mine went to Texas to pick up her son in San Antonio but was stopped in Hudspeth County and arrested for a large quantity of marijuana. This occurred sometime after Jan. 13th, I don’t know exactly. So she’s for sure in a county jail but I’m getting nothing going through those locator sites. Anyway, I was hoping you can give it a try to see if you can come up with something. All the info I have is: Rhonda L. Morse, 48 white F. I know it’s a long shot but I thought I’d try. Thanks!

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Mark, well I located her. She is in Hudspeth County, you are correct. She was arrested on Jan. 15th. I don’t suppose it would be right to post on here all the details of where you can write to her, and the charges she has against her, but if you want to send me a personal email at rivers@intexasprison.com I will reply with the information for you. ~ Magnum

  170. Texas Magnum says:

Hi Amanda, I am glad to hear you did some counseling. I am sure you have taught your children to protect themselves and be alert to dangers as well.

Albert Daniels projected release date at this time is Sept 2015. That is usually somewhat accurate. But depending on a lot of factors, like if he got himself into some trouble in the prison in the meantime, he could be there longer, the maximum amount of time being until Oct. 2016.

I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers, peace to you.

  171. Amanda says:

I did counseling for a long time , the night mares never go away. However if I can protect my kids and know what he looks like, that is my concern. Can you tell me if you know when he is supposed to be let out for sure.

  172. Amanda says:

Albert daniels how do I find out what he looks like now. I am the victim and I don’t know what he looks like today and he gets out in two years. Can you help? I want to know what he looks like so that away , I know if he is around me. It has been almost 20 years and to this day he scares me. He is in the beto unit

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Amanda. Texas does not publish photos of inmates, like some other states do, so there is not a way for you to see what Albert Daniels looks like now. Have you looked into some sort of victim counseling for yourself? You went through something terrible but don’t let him have that power over you any more. Remember, over the past 20 years you have matured yourself, and learned a lot about life. I am sure you have become a lot stronger in every way than you realize. Hang in there, and live your life without feeling scared of him or anyone.

  173. Jessica says:

I am looking for an inmate by the name Anthony Kelly or AK here in Middleton unit please help!

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Jessica. You are correct, Anthony Kelly is in Middleton Unit. I am not sure what you are asking, since you already know he is there, but you can write to him there, if you want to communicate with him. You should include his TDC number on the envelope. His number is 01873524.

  174. Luisa Bueno says:

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Luisa, there is not a person with that name and birthdate in the TDC database. There are a couple with other birth dates. Looks like he is not be in TDC custody, are you just trying to check all places he might be or did you think he was incarcerated? Good luck to you in your search. Peace.

  175. Stephanie says:

thanks somuch for that info on my mother and thanks for taking the time to respond through ur daily life…. • Stephanie says:

correction on my mom’s out date 2014 not 2013 and her middle name is rios so maria rios ramirez thank u

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hey Stephanie, insurance fraud for that amount of money involved is a state jail felony. That does mean she will serve her sentence day-for-day and be released on the actual release date in February. Best of luck to you and your family, I hope you are all together again soon.

This person does not appear in the TDC database. I am not surprised, based on his arrest date, he is probably still in county awaiting trial. You can check in the county jail that corresponds to the town he was arrested in. Good luck.

  181. rebecca says:

My fiance has been in custody since May. He had his parole hearing in October, but we still have not heard anything back from the parole board. How do I find out if he made parole?

    • Texas Magnum says:

It can take a while, but, I would think you would be hearing pretty quick now. If his hearing was mid-October you are at about 2 months out. Here is a link to some phone numbers you can call to get the status. You will need his TDC number for this. Also, be prepared for a wait on the phone, but they will tell you what the status is. They don’t know any details though. Good luck, I hope you get good news soon!

  182. Stephanie says:

hello, I was wondering about my mother she is in plane state jail and she has served 80% of her time on Friday December 5th. do u know if she will even get her 20 % her out date is Feb 5th,2013 her sentence date was May 31st, 2013. today is Dec 17 2013…. we really miss here especially my 7yr old sister.. if u can help me with any info id appreciate it. also how do they send those offenders home by bus or do they go back to county?? thanks for ur time.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Stephanie. The thing about State Jail sentences is that they are day-for-day, meaning she must serve the entire sentence. Now, there are some TDC inmates being HOUSED in certain State Jails, due to overcrowding in TDC units. And those folks fall under TDC sentencing. So, the question is, was your mother’s case a State Jail felony or a TDC felony? I could try to help you figure that out, if you don’t happen to know, if you told me what the charges were. Regarding how the inmate gets home when they are released, they will get sent to a completely different unit that is considered a release unit. For example, Huntsville. From there, if they do not have someone coming to pick them up, the State of Texas will give them bus fare. I hope this info helps and feel free to get back in touch if you want, about your mom’s charges and whether they are State Jail charges or regular TDC charges. Peace.

  184. Nikki says:

We usually talk every day Thursday was the last day I spoke to him I had low balance on my phone account and what he told me was he had ask one of the guards if the we’re going to transfer any inmates to the state jail that day the guard told him yes did not tell him if he was on the list but he told me to check on line if he did not appear for me not to put money on my phone anymore but when I call over the phone they say his still bring held at the county but if I don’t have balance the call will no come tru I just don’t want to add money if his not there I just call not today and they tell the same thing his held at the county but doesn’t say the same thing on line I’m kind of confuse here??

  185. Nikki says:

Ones again thanks for your advised there’s also another weir thing when I go to the jail lookups for the county it doesn’t show anything when I enter his information but when I call the county over the phone it tells me that the book in# of the person I enter is being held at the dallas county jail but online it says no criteria was found that’s the reason I think his already transfer I’m not also how long does it take after there transfer for them to be able to make a phone call and how can I create an account to receive collect calls from the state I don’t think is the same system i was using for the county?????

    • Texas Magnum says:

I agree with you, he is probably transferred and just not up to date in the system yet. Within the next day or two I think you will see him pop up. And, you are right, you will usually have to use a new phone calling system that is authorized for TDC. Honestly with the short amount of time you are looking at, I would be inclined to use JPay to send email correspondence and forget about setting up phone account because TDC and State Jail are a lot different than County and your inmate will not have access to a phone daily or even regularly like they do in County, especially at first. The way JPay email letters works is you write the letter via your JPay account like you are sending an email, and the prison prints it out and delivers it to your inmate like regular mail. Your inmate cannot reply electronically, he must hand write a letter and mail it to you. One thing all inmates enjoy is money for stamps and envelopes. In JPay you can also put money on his commissary account which is one thing you can do for him that will be very appreciated. Good luck. Don’t worry, time’s going to go by fast for y’all.

  186. Nikki says:

Thank you the reason I was asking is because according to him he’s was sentence to 6 moth but he was already in the county for like 4 moths according to the lawyer he had like 45 day to be release he was transfer after 30 days from his sentence is it possible that the get transfer if they only have a couple of day to go..

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Nikki, yes, as strange as it sounds, this is the case. It sounds like your guy might have what is called a “state jail” sentence. This is usually for sentences of two years or less, and they are “day for day” which means if the sentence is for 6 months every day of that 6 months needs to be served. If his time to transfer comes up while in county, it won’t matter if he has only a short while left on his total sentence, they will ship him out and put him through the process of intake. It’s stupid because they spend money on transferring him and paperwork than makes any sense for just a week or two there. Oh well… sounds like he will be home soon anyway. Hang in there and tell him to stay out of trouble and away from the law once he’s home!

  187. Mark Ryan says:

T-Mag, I thank you so very much for your kind words and your time in collecting that information for me. I tried and tried but couldn’t get anywhere. 94 years sounds good to me. Thanks again, my friend. RIP Auntie Flora, we all love you!

    • Texas Magnum says:

You’re sure welcome. The TDC system can be pretty hard to navigate if you’re not used to it. And I don’t suggest anyone choose to be “used” to the Texas Dept of Corrections! RIP to your Auntie indeed.

  188. Elizabeth Hayes says:

I am trying to find out information on John Charles Zimmerman: first conviction 1977, overturned, second conviction 1979 also overturned. I have found information from 1988 about the second conviction being overturned but have not been able to locate anything from that point on.
Victim: Ramona Ann Abner murdered 1977, she and I were childhood friends.
Any information about the 1988 ruling and retrial would be greatly appreciated.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Elizabeth. I do not find John C. Zimmerman in the TDC database at this time, he is not currently an inmate at Texas Department of Corrections. I did a little searching and it appears to me that the conviction for murder held, what was not upheld was the death penalty. Based on this I would bet he stayed incarcerated, only did not face the death penalty. It’s hard to say if he was ever released or if he actually passed away while in custody, which does happen. I wish I could give you more information, sorry. Hope you find some answers, can you contact her family members?

  189. Nikki says:

I have a friend that’ was going to be transfer to tdc from dallas county not showing in the county system anymore but also Being trying to look him up on tdc system and his not there either any ideas on what my be going on with him please help????

    • Texas Magnum says:

When an inmate gets his orders to transfer from county lockup to TDC there are several days where he is not going to show up on the TDC site while he is being processed. Typically he will first go for processing, then to someplace like Garza East while they figure out which unit he will go to, then to his unit. This can take several days and it really makes the folks on the outside worry while they don’t know where their loved one is. One thing I have found is that JPay, at http://www.jpay.com, which is a site where you can add funds to your inmates commissary account or send emails to them, usually updates their database even faster than TDC does. So, visit jpay.com and look for him there. But don’t worry, he is going to show up on TDC’s website in a couple days. Take care.

  190. Mark Ryan says:

I’ve been following the status of someone who killed my aunt in Harris County, Houston Texas. Last info I have is that a jury found him guilty on 9-25-13. Since then he’s been moved and I’ve been trying to find out the location. When I try the locator in the top left it says, HTTP Status 404, The requested resource () is not available. Is there any way I can find out what his sentence is and what prison he’s located? He is, Dean Jerome Wood SPN: 00279955, Thank you.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Mark, Thanks for your note. I am so sorry to hear about your aunt, that is a terrible thing and I am sure it has taken it’s toll on your family. By the way, I am glad you brought to my attention that the prison inmate locator was out of order. It’s fixed now. I looked up the individual you mentioned and I did find him. He is in the Michael Unit of TDC, that is in Tennessee Colony, TX. HIS TDC number is 01886087. His sentence is 94 years, he’s going to be away for a good long while. His projected release date is 2102, but his first parole eligibility comes up in 2040. I would think it would be denied, considering the charges and sentence, but of course I’m no lawyer. Peace to you and your family.

I Am Looking For David Uceda

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Bibiana, I just noticed today that the inmate locator was temporarily broken. I have fixed it. I searched for David Uceda and he does not come up in the TDC records. Other possibilities are that he is incarcerated in a county jail, not TDC, or a Federal penitentiary. Sometimes if someone is sentenced to TDC they first spend time in county, waiting to transfer. If he was recently sentenced this may be the case. Best of luck to you.

  192. Chris W says:

I would like to know when Michael angel Lopez is being released? The Austin city jail site says he’s not in custody anymore but I know he is.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Chris. The inmate locator is now fixed, sorry it was out of order. But, there is one Michael Angel Lopez in the TDC system, his birthdate is listed as 9/24/86. Is this the person you are looking for? He is currently in Baten Unit. That is an ISF Unit which is where they send someone with drug problems. A lot of times they let the person out on parole, and they mess up and they send them there for 90 days or so to straighten them out, rather than return them to prison. It’s a prison though, just a drug rehab style prison. Anyway, they also sometimes send a person to ISF before releasing them if they feel they are at great risk for drug problems once they are released. Here is the information for Baten, you might be able to contact them and learn a little more. Sometimes these units have visitation. Good luck!

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Shawni, sorry for the delay in responding. I have been busy with work and not here on the blog too much lately. I imagine by now you have heard from your fiance. It is very frustrating and scary when you first have a loved one in prison and you don’t hear from them. But, all these things can take a while. I hope all is well now and he is settled in to his unit and doing OK and yourself as well. Take care.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Kris, I am sure by now you have figured out the monitor. I apologize I didn’t reply sooner, I have not been on the blog for awhile. Let me know if you need any other info, I do know something about having the monitor on and the whole process. I hope your husband is doing well and that everything is working out. Take care and best of luck to you both.

hey i was trying to see if my sons father projected release date the day his getting out or is it sooner because i cant get any further information on him and i just want to be prepared cause my son has never met him before ricky gene isbell cid#1410511

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hello Monica. I apologize for not replying a lot sooner. You may have found this information yourself by now but the TDC Inmate Locator says that Ricky Isbell has a projected release date of Feb 5, 2014. Those projected dates are not 100% accurate but that is his maximum sentence date so in his case it is probably going to be right around then. He is located at the Neal Unit in Amarillo. If you write to him include his TDC number on the correspondence. His TDC number is 01410511.
Best of luck to you and your son.

  196. Shirley says:

Hi, I found out they approved my son parole but said he will not get out before September 1, 2014. That’s like giving him another one year offset. Why would they do that usually they are released soon as the address is approved where they are going. Sidney will not be coming back to el paso. Sidney R. Digbie 1221978 please reply. He has been in prison for 14 years. We really miss him

  197. my fiance’ Jamie Tennimon was just transferred from Gregg County Jail to a State Jail Facility. How can I find out where she is? I tried the Inmate Locator Tool and followed the instructions but it says to offender with her name was found. I know for a fact she transferred on 10/29/2013 but don’t know where she is or what her State ID number is. I want to get money on her books ASAP and start planning to save for a trip to visit but need to know here location.,please help.

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Steven, I had been away from the blog for a while, so sorry I didn’t reply sooner. I am sure by now you know this, but I looked up your fiance and she is in Plane State Jail. Unfortunately when an inmate is transferred it can take several days for TDC to update their database, and they won’t show up for awhile. It’s pretty messed up, butwwwJPay.com, the online site to send money to inmates, usually has their records updated faster than TDC does.

  198. tammy miller says:

I would like to know why my brother Henry Henderson #1077112 released date has changed from November 1, 2013 to Dec 3, 2013.
    Thanks,
    Tammy Miller

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Tammy, I was away from the blog for awhile, sorry I didn’t have an answer for you sooner. I hope by nwo your brother is home and doing well. Unfortunately when it comes to TDC, they change dates, rules, and everything else they want without good reasons so we are really at their mercy when it comes to getting out. Peace.

  199. Alejandra says:

Hi my boyfriend Jesse galvan 8/19/87 has been transfered to garza west can I write him?
Would you happen to know his release date? Can i visit him if were not married?

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Alejandra. I imagine by now you have the answer to the questions you sent. You can visit your boyfriend if he has you on his list of people. I am sure by now you have the address to Garza West and have been writing to him, so best of luck to you and him and take care.

  200. laura says:

Question my baby’s father got sentenced Aug 28th 2013 to serve 6 months in TDC. He signed for 6 months in TDC & 10 years probation. I searched him and his projected release date is Jan 31 2018th ? I’m nervous on why its saying that ?

    • Texas Magnum says:

That doesn’t quite sound right. First of all, a sentence of 6 months would usually be in State Jail. State Jail sentences are for two years or less and are day for day, meaning there is no good time or early relase. But I haven’t heard of anyone having a TDC sentence for just 6 months in the first place. Regarding the projected release of 2018, well I don’t know without knowing more about the situation. If you want to send me another note with more details I will try to give my opinion but of course I am not a lawyer, just someone who has been there. Good luck to you and your boyfriend.

  201. Raylor says:

My dad went to prison for 9 months and I want to know why. Can anybody tell me how to find out? His name is Eric Locascio. PLEASE AN THANK YOU!

    • Texas Magnum says:

Hi Raylor. I was away from the blog for awhile. I bet by now you have already found where your dad is. I looked up his name and he doesn’t show in the TDC database. That means he might be in County Jail, especially since 9 months is not a very long sentence. I know it’s long to you, but it’s not in terms of TDC time. Or, he could be in a federal penitentiary. It all depends on why he is incarcerated. If you still need help finding him send me a few more details and I will try to help. Peace to you and your family.

  202. My husbands name is melvin mitchell when is his parol date?

    • Texas Magnum says:

You may have gotten the information you need now but in a quick search I see that there are 2 Melvin Mitchells listed in TDC. One had a projected release date of yesterday, as a matter of fact. I hope that is the one you are looking for. The other has a date of August of 2014. You can look them up and figure out which one is yours by date of birth or race.
