Do you need to find someone in Texas prison? If a family member or loved one has been sent to prison, you might be wondering how to find them. Probably you want to write to them and stay in touch while they do their time.
I used to be able to display a form on this page that let folks search for inmates within TDC but the folks at TDCJ have changed the way things work and I cannot make it work now. I hope to have a solution soon. Meanwhile please continue to send your questions to me and I will keep trying to help y’all. Sorry for the hassle.

How long until TDC posts new inmate numbers? My female friend caught chain recently and I’ve been looking her name up everyday since. Still nothing. I know she signed for SafP. Shouldn’t she have been issued a number by now?

ok I talked to his PO and he said that he is in Plainview however Im still not finding him any where.
I am wondering how long it takes for me to know which state jail he was sent to he was in county and was transferred today to serve 6 months in state jail. we are originally from Lubbock so he caught chain today and I was wondering how long will it be before I know where he was sent and if and when can I write him and go see him?
Hi Tyranny, if you check the TDC locator, he will show up within a couple days. he is probably already showing. Also, http://www.JPay.com which is a site you can use to send funds to your inmate, often shows up the person even before TDC updates their databases, so you might want to check that out too. Hello..okay so I’m confused, my brother got arrested on June 09 2015 he was on a city jail and was told he was getting tranfer to a county jail..he called last night saying he was already getting transferred and that he was told that maybe he would be out by today but i haven’t known anything about him since then and he doesn’t appear on the city jail system nor the county system…what can i do? thanks!(:
Hi Jessica, Sometimes it takes a day or so for the records to update in the new place. It can be really frustrating to track someone down in these circumstances. Usually you can call the county jail and ask if he is being held there. It might be the most direct. They can tell you if he is there, and possibly if he was released already. Hello Vanessa, there isn’t a good way to find your fiance in county jail without knowing what county he is in. Do you have any idea what city or town he was in when he was detained? You need to check with the county where he was arrested to find out where he is. Good luck to you, I hope you find him soon. I bet he will send you a letter himself pretty soon.

Hi Ruth. Currently there is no inmate in the Texas prison system by that name. Are you sure he is incarcerated at this time?
