Texas Prison Inmate Search
Do you need to find someone in Texas prison? If a family member or loved one has been sent to prison, you might be wondering how to find them. Probably you want to write to them and stay in touch while they do their time.
I used to be able to display a form on this page that let folks search for inmates within TDC but the folks at TDCJ have changed the way things work and I cannot make it work now. I hope to have a solution soon. Meanwhile please continue to send your questions to me and I will keep trying to help y’all. Sorry for the hassle.
You can also check these other pages I have with information about Texas prison, Federal prison, and, soon to come, county jails in Texas.
Hello i was trying to Find my best friend “Marcos Nahum Robledo Jimenez”
Hi Sully, I did not find your friend, but that is a whole lot of names he has. I tried all the names you listed. Are you sure he is in TDC?
Hi Iam looking for Jose Benavente Ramirez since 2 months ago and we can’t find him anywhere in the system please help .
Hi Cynthia, I do not find him in the TDC system. If you can tell me more, we can look in county jails from the area he was living. Where was he last?
Im trying to look for Jonathan Lucero DOB 4/4/81
Hello Dulce, I do not find Jonathan Lucero in the TDC system. Are you sure he is in TDC and not in county jail?
My son just signed for 15 yrs on an F1 aggrivated robbery charge. He has been in Montgomry County Jail for about 10 months of this past year. March of 2015, he was convicted and charged. My sons name is Trevor Jerome Garza, Im his father Rudy Jerome Garza.
Hi Garza, Sorry to hear about your son, on an aggravated charge he has awhile inside. I want to suggest you check out the http://www.prisontalk.com forum. Just go to the site, click on forum, then find the section on Parents of Children in Prison. I know it helped my family a lot, my mom told me there were some cool folks, and as a matter of fact, a couple reached out to me personally and wrote to me while I was inside. They even sent me cards and really reached out. It’s a great place to get all the information you need, and to just share your experience and your son’s. The thing I can tell you is to stay in touch with him and to keep in touch with letters and visits, if possible. I will be hoping to hear back from you as your son and your family go through this time. Meanwhile – take care and peace ~ Magnum
Im looking for Rogelio Elizondo Estrada
Hello Lorena, Rogelio is not showing up under Rogelio Elizondo or Rogelio Estrada. Did he just get transferred to TDC? Maybe he is in county jail? When someone is just transferred from county to TDC it takes a couple days to show up. Try again in a day or so.
I am trying to find my husband juan antonio jimenez he was transfer to Holladay prison.
Hello Mariana, I do not find your husband in the system. If he was just transferred from county, it can take a couple days to show up. You might try again in a day or so. Peace ~ Magnum

hello im trying too look for my sister lisa huerta
Hello! I came across your site while looking for info regarding a family friend. I have to say while I don’t know you, I have a sincere & deep respect for you, your journey & all the encouragement you provide. My father was incarcerated for a good portion of my life & the entire family “did time” with him. It’s hard on everyone involved not to mention all the social stigma that comes with the words “felon” or “convict”. Your page & all your words/actions bring people help & hope. Thank you for that. I did have a question in regards to finding out info on a family friend. We have been corresponding regularly then about a month ago nothing. We continue to write & send funds for commissary but we haven’t heard anything from him & we’re extremely worried. We called the current facility & got told “he aiight”. Is there any way we could find out if he’s in lockdown or the infirmary? We just want to know that he’s ok. Thanks for any help.
Hello Teresa, thanks for the kind words, I appreciate that. I know what you mean about the whole family doing time with you. For your friend, did you locate him on the TDC inmate locator? If he is in agg seg usually it will show he is not eligible for visitation. If he is sick or hurt to the degree he is at a hospital somewhere it will also give a message that he is temporarily at another site. Unfortunately, as you probably already know, the prison is not usually too helpful with information in these cases. If time keeps going by and you don’t hear anything, you could try reaching the chaplain at the unit he is at. They are tough to reach too, but if you get them on the line they can be a bit more helpful. I hope you get word from him soon, I know that is hard not hearing. Do you happen to know his bunkmate’s name and TDC number? You can try writing to them if he is friendly with them, to set your mind at ease.
Good luck to you, write back and let us know when you get in touch with your friend. Peace ~ Magnum
Hello, I am attempting to locate James Peyton Busbee Jr, who was transferred out of the Victoria County Jail and into the Federal system. He does not appear in the Inmate Search, and while I am getting his SID number I do not have it at the moment and would appreciate any assistance you could offer. Thanks, JDW
Hey JD, there is not a James Peyton Busbee currently listed in the Federal system. When someone is transferred, it takes a couple days for them to show up in the new system. I think if you wait a few days they may show up. I wanted to mention, there is a James Merrill Busbee mentioned, who is not currently in federal custody but at one time was. They are listed as a white male, 52 years old. Not sure if this is possibly the person you are looking for and you had the middle name mixed up? Anyway, you can check Federal Inmates at this link >> http://www.bop.gov/inmateloc/. Keep an eye on it and your friend ought to show up if he was recently transferred.
My husband Sergio I. Sierra is in gurney unit. His prohected sentence is 9/29/2017 is he gonna have to do two years then? Before he was transferred, and before going to mcclennan county jail he went to court 4/2/2015and was told he was only going to do 3 or 5months, and would be out on parole so I dont understand why he is going to do two years. Can you please help me understan what’s going on
Hey Analisa, in general I have found the projected release date to be a good indicator. When I went in, my lawyer told me I would be out in a couple months… which was not true. My experience has told me that lawyers will tell you almost anything and also do not necessarily understand what going to prison is all about. All I can tell you is settle in for awhile, keep in touch with Sergio with letters and visits if it’s possible for you. I would bet he makes parole well before his 2 years is up if he keeps things cool inside. So just try to be patient, and the time will go by. Peace ~ Magnum
Analisa I took a look at your husband’s sentence and I see his sentence is for 7 years total, so it is probably pretty realistic he will be there for about 2 years. I am sorry, I hadn’t looked at the details last night and thought that his entire sentence was 2 years. The good news is he is already eligible for parole and you never know, he might be out much sooner than expected.
Thanks very much Texas magnum
do you have his tdcj number this is not the sid number, it is the number that thay give them when theyput them in the Federal system. if you have that number put it where it says tdcj number, it should locate him.
Hi, my husband signed for 3 years tdc.. He just got transferred but, I can’t find him any where in the system.. Also how much of the 3 years would he have to complete? And does the 4 1/2 months from county go with him to tdc? His name is Freddy Rasalio Umanzor.. If u can help find him that would be great..
Hi Briana, your husband is at Holliday Unit. That is a transfer unit so in awhile he will be relocated to another unit, where he will likely stay for the duration of his sentence. His TDC number is 01995924 and this number must be included next to his name on envelopes when you write him. If you plan to use regular mail the address at Holliday is:
TDC Holliday Unit
295 I.H. 45 North
Huntsville, TX 77320-8443
Also, you might check into jpay.com. There you can sign up and send him funds that way, and also send him letters via email. He cannot answer you by email, but they will print out your mail and deliver it to him.
In answer to your questions, yes, the 4 1/2 months he spent in county will count towards his sentence. He shows as already eligible for parole, but his projected release date is showing as May of 2016. In my experience this will be about right, give or take a month or so.
Hope this information helps. Peace ~ Magnum
Can you please help me locate my husband. He left Dallas County, Lew Sterret yesterday and I can’t find him anywhere. His name is Dewayne H. Dillon. Thanking you in advance.
Hi Carolyn, when someone is transferred from county to TDC, it takes a day or two for them to show up in TDC’s system. Sometimes a person will show up on the JPay.com site before they even show up on TDC’s search. Not sure if you have heard of JPay.com, it is a site where you can send an inmate money, you might want to check it out. At any rate, give it another day or so and your husband will show up in the TDC Inmate Locator too. Peace ~ Magnum
