Texas Prison Inmate Search
Do you need to find someone in Texas prison? If a family member or loved one has been sent to prison, you might be wondering how to find them. Probably you want to write to them and stay in touch while they do their time.
I used to be able to display a form on this page that let folks search for inmates within TDC but the folks at TDCJ have changed the way things work and I cannot make it work now. I hope to have a solution soon. Meanwhile please continue to send your questions to me and I will keep trying to help y’all. Sorry for the hassle.

It shows my brother should be released on 7-29-15, but still hasn’t been transferred to the release center(Huntsville). Is the date an estimate or for sure he will get out that day. How do I check? Btw it’s only 2 days away
That is only a projected release date. If you are not 100% sure call the prison he is located in. As long as you are immediate family, they will release the information to you. They sometimes will not ever transfer to a release center if it is a short term prison sentence.
You can always write to him .. I believe

it shows that my daughter is being release from Plane jail on 7/23/2015 and I was wondering what do I have to do to pick her up? do i have to call a telephone number or do I just show up
As far as I know you should not have to call. You show up, and you might have to wait for an hour or a couple hours in your car so bring a book or magazine. Does she know you are coming to pick her up? You can bring her a change of clothes, because she will be released in whatever odds and ends they can find for her, it is usually something she would not prefer to wear and doesn’t fit right. You can try calling 936-295-6371 or 800-535-0283 which are information lines but it can be real hard to get through. If you call there you need her TDC number. Hi my boyfriend Abel aguliar was picked up on the 8th from Polk county jail in crookston mn. And he still hasn’t made it to a county can anyone please tell me what’s going on how long will it take him to be in county or is he okay. D.o.b 02 12 1995

I have not found any way to track them when they are going from a county jail to a county jail. Do you know what county he is being transferred to? If so you could try calling that jail. Im sorry Im not much help.
I did find MN Dept of Corrections and he is not listed there. But wouldnt be if not in prison. I tried the Polk County Jail and there isnt a list of inmates available on line. Sorry I couldnt find anything to help you. Praying all is well and you hear something soon.
Thanks so much he is being transferred to Harris county jail and I have called everywhere and everyone and nothing I just want to know if he is ok or where he is . I hope to hear from him soon I go back home to MN. On Monday and I’m 7 months pregnant I just want to hear something before I leave.
Hey Liz, glad Rose could help you look. You mentioned Harris County Jail but he does not show on the roster there. What makes you feel he was taken there? Aguliar, like you spelled it, is not a common name. You didn’t mean Aguilar? I don’t find either name with first name Abel but just to make sure you are searching the right name.
Yes well the way u really spell it is aguilar but aguliar is how they spell it in the system he has a warrant in Houston tx and he will be sent to the Harris county jail I have a lawyer for him already I just haven’t heard anything from him its going on 9 days and still nothing I just want to know where he is or how long will it take for him to be in Harris county from Minnesota
Hey Liz, yes I would have expected him to show up in Harris County by now too. I don’t know much about the Harris County system but I suspect he is already there, and it’s such a big county facility that they just haven’t gotten their records updated yet, or maybe have him in lockdown for a couple days so he can’t call or write. I;m hoping you hear he is there at Harris County in the next day or so. Keep us posted. ~ Magnum
If he has been to prison before then no he doesn’t have to go down and actually touch prison ground that cuz he already has a TV CJ’s number so he can be released right from the county jail
If he has never been to prison you might want to get on the horn you might have other cases still pending if that is the case he’s waiting for a blue warrant
Hello Diane, Refugio Delgado does not show up in the TDC system at this time. Are you sure he is there? If he just got transferred from county jail it can take a couple days for him to show up in the TDC system. Peace ~ Magnum

Hey Sharn, Angela Valka is not showing in the system. Did she just go to TDC? If she just was transferred from county it can take a couple days to show up. Are you sure she is there? This will only show TDC inmates, not those in county jail lockups or in Federal. Peace ~ Magnum
My husband is in ISF in harris county but is not showing in the.tdcj offender search. Also i need to set up a phone acct. through ISF. I need the number to call. I know its a different acct through ISF than tdcj. Can I please get help!
Hey Amy, the phone number for ISF in Harris County is (713) 223-0601. But that is the number to the unit, I do not know what number you need to set up phone service or if it is different than for the other TDC units. I never had phone service. In my opinion phone service is a rip off and your better off writing letters. But that is just me. Maybe if you call the unit they can help you out with some info. Peace ~ Magnum

Hey Pearla. If he just caught chain it takes a couple days to show up in the system. Once he does, the unit he is at will be listed in the inmate locator on this page. If you click on the unit name, it takes you to a page showing all the units and the address for each one. If you try jpay.com sometimes people show up faster there for some reason. Hey Pearla, your husband isn’t showing up yet, it takes a couple days when they catch chain to appear in the system. I have found that sometimes Jpay.com, the site for sending money, finds them quicker than the TDC locator does, you might check that out. Meanwhile, don’t worry, in another day or so he will show up. When my son first got to Rudd he saw Re-entry…then as you know parole was denied to prd 12/14 and he is in parole review again right now…he got a letter today telling him he has an appointment with Re-entry Monday…of course the stories flow and I know there isnt set rules you can follow because everyone is different and you hear different things. But a guy that got a serve all to prd with his prd being in Nov saw Re-entry and they told him he had an F51 and he is going home next month…Im trying to find out all options about what this means and NOT get my hopes up…anyone know anything?
Hey Rose, what you said – don’t get your hopes up – that’s a good way to play it — but I’m pretty sure you are getting your hopes up right about now. I tried to use the attitude “hope for the best, expect the worst.” You plain don’t know with TDC. I don’t think there is a formula you can use to figure out the odds. I’d put money on your son coming home soon, but not all I had. You ought to try again to get onto prisontalk.com, it has a lot of info. The jpay.com forum is small compared to it. this time at re-entry they took his picture, they didnt the first time…I just dont know. Im tired, emotionally and mentally as is he. This latest bout with the unfairness and bs that goes on in there has us worn. Just praying he is home soon and we can get past this mess.

Hi there. My son was transferred to Middleton from county on 2/13 (Friday) and I believe he was in the system by Tuesday. As soon as he I saw his name and number I added him in jpay and put money on his books and sent an email. He said that first week when they went to store everyone told him he wouldnt be able to get anything, it was too soon. So when he got there and had money he felt like it was Christmas…so if you are able to put some money on his books as soon as you see your hubbys name by all means do it…money for commissary and letters keep them encouraged and not quite as alone feeling. Hang in there!
Hi I am just wondering if there is someone that I can write to in support of my son seeking a line class change? He has been in TDCJ for six months now. Changes is not required for him to parole out but he is in the class anyway. Hes not sure who to ask about this so I told him I would see what I could find out.
Hey Rose, I am not sure who would be the right person or office to contact about that, but line class is based on behavior while in prison. So I am not sure if writing to anyone would help. An inmate goes in as L1 and needs to stay out of trouble. If an inmate has disciplinary trouble their line class goes down. Sometimes this is tough because your whole pod might get in trouble about something that wasn’t really your doing. But of course the best bet is to stay out of trouble and do as much positive like taking classes, which it sounds like your son is. Here is a good thread that explains line class. Click on Forum and from there you will find a lot of information, there is a section for Texas and a section for parents of inmates.
