Texas Prison Inmate Search

Do you need to find someone in Texas prison? If a family member or loved one has been sent to prison, you might be wondering how to find them. Probably you want to write to them and stay in touch while they do their time.

Texas Prison Inmate Search

I used to be able to display a form on this page that let folks search for inmates within TDC but the folks at TDCJ have changed the way things work and I cannot make it work now. I hope to have a solution soon. Meanwhile please continue to send your questions to me and I will keep trying to help y’all. Sorry for the hassle.

You can also check these other pages I have with information about Texas prison, Federal prison, and, soon to come, county jails in Texas.

    1. Hi Mindy, this is the Editor of this site, who makes the posts for Magnum who is in prison. I checked the TDC site, and Mitchell is not up for parole at this time. Currently his case shows that he just became eligible for parole. This means that within the next couple of months he should have a review, and then they will make a decision to parole him. His projected release date shows as 2014 but that is probably the “worse-case scenario”.

Have you ever visited http:www/prisontalk.com, specifically in the Texas section? If you have not, you might check it out, they have a lot of very good assistance and support there, all run by the family members and loved ones of inmates as well as those who have previously served time.

Best of luck to you, and to Mitchell as well.

    1. Hello Don, It looks like your brother became eligible for parole in 2009 but no parole release date is present. This probably means that he was denied parole at his last hearing. Right now his release date of 2019-12-08 reflects the full sentence.

To keep yourself updated, just put his inmate number in the field for that and submit, and you will get the latest details. Best of luck to you and your brother!

  3. I would like to know the relase date of someone who’s in middleton.when I look it up dosnt say a release date..

    1. Hello Somer, So, it sounds like you WERE able to locate the person, but no Projected Release Date was available? Did they just recently arrive at Middleton? I think that your best bet is to just keep checking back regularly, until TDC gets one posted. I am sorry I don’t have more information for you but it might take a little bit for a date to appear.

    1. Raisa, that doesn’t look like a Texas Dept of Corrections inmate number. Where is your brother incarcerated?

        1. Raisa, I found this information –
To locate an offender within the Massachusetts Department of Correction you will need the following information:
Offenders Last Name and First Name and/or Committment Number
          Then call (877) 421-8463.

I suggest you give them a call tomorrow, hopefully they can help you out.

    1. Dusty, on the left side of the site under Links there is one that says “Texas Prison Inmate Search”. Click on that and the TDCJ Inmate Locator tool is available.

However, I just checked for you, and this name is in the database but does not have a release date listed.
You can keep checking back and maybe one will appear there soon.

        1. Hi Melissa, really there isn’t much you can do on your end, it’s up to the parole board to set parole hearings and make decisions on them. Once he has a parole hearing coming up you can prepare a packet with a letter from yourself and other family members and send it to the parole board for their consideration. Good luck to you and your father, just keep in touch with him until he gets out – those letters mean a lot. Peace

        2. I would also like to know if and how I can get my Uncle to get Parol again. I am his Great Neice, and also does anyone know if I can have contact visits with him or only though glass?

          1. Breana, when an inmate is eligible for parole, their family and loved ones can prepare a parole packet for them. This includes letters telling how the family can help the inmate once they are out on parole, details about where they can live or what jobs they might have open to them, and other things like this. The parole board will review the packet when the inmate is having his case reviewed.
Regarding visitation, usually an inmate has to already have you on their visitation list. I do not know if it would be a contact visit or through glass, but if you call the prison where he is incarcerated they should be able to tell you if he can see you for a visit and if it is a contact visit. Good luck to you and your uncle.

          1. Charles Edward Mack does show up on the TDC inmate locator. His TDC # is 01170609 and he is at Michael unit with a projected release date of Oct. 2017. Good luck to you and him. Peace ~ Magnum

        1. My brothers release date is today but a county in Texas has a hold on him, where he will most likely get time served. I would like to be there when he sees the judge since I will be taking him home with me. How can I find out when this transfer might happen?

          1. Hi Marie, if your brother’s release date was today chances are he has already been transferred to the county facility where they have a hold on him. Try calling that county jail directly to see if you can get info on whether he shows as there. Good luck to you, and your brother. Peace.

    1. Why do Im I still paying child support to a women that’s in prison and I have had our child for a year already! !!!

      1. Know the feeling although my ex isnt in prison yet and had the children since 08. Write the attorney generals office it may take a minute but so worth it. They knocked back child support off of my case that occured during my incarcitation. Almost $30,000. Contact them and ask for a review of the case

        1. Hey Texannia, he will get time served for the time spent in county. It’s a hard time for everyone, keeping in touch with letters will help you and your kids and mean a lot to him. Hearing from home means a lot to inmates. Good luck and peace to you ~ Magnum

    2. my love we love u and miss u bad but i just saw your release date and thank the lord you wont be there long at all.
